      Tobias Flohr, If you’ll look closely at cross sectional views of an McDonell Douglas/Boeing F15 and the Migoyan/Gurevich (MiG) 29 you’ll notice a strong resemblance between the two. The only major difference is in the cockpit and canopy area. As a former active duty Marine Corps Officer and F4 Phantom fighter pilot during the 60’s in Vietnam these similarities jump out at me!,

      @@arttafil6792 It's always so cool to meet people like you from all over the world on TH-cam. As a son of a former GDR MiG 29 technician, i have to admit, that from my point of view there simply can not be a better looking aircraft on this planet than the MiG 29. Guess that design was state of the art back in the days. But I like the F4 Phantom too. They served side by side for Germany at JG 73. My dad used to say, that 'the F4 is so ugly, that she appears pretty again'.
      Not a very good translation but i hope, you're getting the message.
      Greetings from Germany. 👋

      Tobias Flohr JG73, Richthofen? Or is that JG71? At Almost 73 years of age even old former active duty Marine Corps fighter pilots get rusty.

    • @schneiderphotoMD
      @schneiderphotoMD 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      We had on fly over our office not long ago, I’m not sure why the physics are what they are but that semi hover position is extremely noisy. We have jets fly over and they can be louder for a very short time, but the Osprey vibrated the whole building for a good 3 - 4 seconds. It was so much that some co-workers that normally tune all the aircraft noise out stopped what they were doing to try and figure out what was happening. It is pretty sweet. It’s the sound you hear at about 5:34 - 5:50

    • @mpk6664
      @mpk6664 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@schneiderphotoMD It has to do with how the props themselves are rotated. It also happens on the second chinook in the video when the aircraft pitches the nose up. I suspect that the large Osprey blades at that certain prop angle creates more drag, and thus increases the sound output. The sound could also be increased due to the lack of cyclic control on the props too, but I'm likely wrong on that.
