I am surprised how many negative comments on this video... These people just wanted to show other people on the youtube how they did certain things.. You can like it, you can dislike it, you can skip it... Why so much hate? What's going on with the world?
I agree, she doesn't deserve the hate. It's a DIY, it's not meant to be professional. She's happy with what she did, she's proud, and if she changes her mind in a few years she'll be able to make something new easily.
The idea is great. The construction is normally different. You would first apply a sheet of MDF or a board. Affix the board to the studs, sand and paint, then apply the slats. That way you can use glue and nails w/o damage to the wall and it will be a more permanent/secure application. A primer is crucial when painting with darker colors. Otherwise, Im super proud of the effort. 👏
Fair play for showing how to do this. I know you mentioned it but I would have concerns about the wood warping over time and even getting uniform straight pieces to start with. In my experience wood can get very warped with seasonal changes etc. I know it is more expensive but the pre made panels woild give a better finish and better longevity. They also have the benefit of audio surpression. I do understand this was to show how you could do it on the cheap but it could be false economy.
As a construction field engineer, I would have done it differently as far as sequence, but im very impressed that u guys were able to accomplish this without much experience. It came out great. Trial and error will make you a beast. Great work!
Looks pretty good, I’m afraid to nail the wall, it may be some pipes, perhaps electrical wires. Other than that, I think I’m doing this project tomorrow. Thanks for the tips.
Nice. I like it with a only few slats in 2 corners cause paint so nice. Shoudve left a little extra spacing around outlet for maintenence. Always maintenence lol.
Great video only one thing... i would have got new outlet box's fitted so that the face could have been fitted on top of the wood to give it a better finish
Hi, loving some of your begginer advice as I'm going to start sharing all my cool stuff soon. My stuff that I think is cool anyway. Since I grabbed a little handful of your tips, thought it only fair to leave one for your propagation. This may very well be rife input, but it is a pretty simple technique for holding lighter-weight, non-structural materials to sheetrock like slats for instance. Works best with longer 16‐18gauge nails ( I always keep 2" loaded up). Shoot one at 11 o'clock and as close to the head of your 11 nail as possible, fire another at 1 o'clock. Kind of shooting a v away from yourself creating a pretty stable anchor. Obviously lots of people would say glue or caulk, but trying to blow and go on something this tedious saves lots of nails and is much much less permanent. Meaning if you need to make it be not, the pinholes to be filled are much less work than removing the glue and sheetrock/texture the glue takes with it.(usually requiring new rock all together) I do apologize, I have a strange condition where when I have simple thought i expel a massively prolix and windy, but gratuitous, thicket of a grapheme and phoneme amalgamate. See lol. I talk too much would be more concise
I would have glued the slates. Brad nails will never stay in place long term on a plastered wall when your not hitting the studs. Other than that it looks great . Good job
The issue with glue is removing them. If you get tired of the design, you’ll have to do a lot of drywall repair. With brad nails it’s just a couple holes to patch if you remove them
Did you use wood that was already cut, for the slat wall? I am doing this under my house instead of lattice. I am trying to figure out what would to use.
@@sandiapillay9691 drilling nails into drywall will be ok for a very short time or as long as the slats are it disturbed I guess. They are not secured properly in the video I think. But OP said they have been fine for over an year so 🤷♂️
you fired a brad nail into the wall around the socket... without checking the orientation of the cables? how were you sure you didnt or were not going to penetrate the cables???
Are you concerned that brad nails won't keep the slats from warping with changes in humidity? Did you consider using a backer board and screwing from behind to provide more ridgity and would be interested to know why or why not? Thank you!
Hi Carl! This has been up for 4 months and there’s no issues yet. Since we did a geometric design in the other side of the wall, we wanted the slats to be as close to the wall as possible. I guess you could do the backer board depending on your environment.
Wondering what you would think about this method but in a partially underground basement? We are thinking of doing a single wall like this but attaching it to MDF/Plywood, then attaching that panel to cinderblock walls. How would we attach the slats to allow them not to warp with humidty?
We aren’t using very long nails and tried to nail at the top and bottom where there is less chance of any wires. You can also get a stud finder that detects electrical too if your concerned about it!
Hi Taylor. Good question. We nailed them in an angle so they criss cross (like an x formation) so they are holding well. This helps to anchor nails when there is no stud. Also, No one is pulling them so I don’t anticipate any problems!
Hey Devionne! It’s actually the same piece of wood, but we flipped it on the short edge. You can use anything but we liked a smaller gap than the width of the board.

Thank you so much! That means a lot. Like you said, I wanted to help ppl if they want to do it in their home. You’re a shining star!
Thank you Laurence! I def never implied I was a professional. And that’s the exact reason we didn’t use glue! Thanks for understanding
Keep on Hana, you are very talented 👏👏
Looks awesome, keep up the good work.
This is really good especially for people with little to No tool experience... great job
I appreciate that! That’s who I am trying to help! Everyone should have their dream home
As an interior Designer i found it very beautiful and emazing work
Congrats guys you did a great job!
Great Job, its BEAUTIFUL 😍 ❤
I love the 2 accent options. Im looking to do something like this in my condo for my combo dining/living room.
Very cool, the result turned out fantastic!

That’s a great idea too!! Thanks for the tip
So you’re saying to like put a cross board screwed into the studs running horizontally and then attach the planks to that?
Great tips.. thanks for sharing!
Was looking for something similar for my bar.. thank you for making the video. Amazing effort.... and as usual great job. ❤️
Thank you so much!! So excited for your project

Great job! I will follow your style to decorate my movie room. Thanks alot❤
This would be very cool in a movie room!!
Thank you! Getting ready to do mine
It's beautiful ❤

Hana! It turned out so good. I’m so inspired
Thanks so much Ashley!! It’s an easy beginner level project

Other than that, I think I’m doing this project tomorrow. Thanks for the tips.
Absolutely do what you’re comfortable with!!! Good luck.
Put a planter and a hanging light over it in that corner as well 😍😍. Very Niceee ❤
Nice. I like it with a only few slats in 2 corners cause paint so nice. Shoudve left a little extra spacing around outlet for maintenence. Always maintenence lol.
Oops! Didn’t think of that. Noted for next time
so beautiful. can you tell me where to buy the small wooden sticks? and what are they called? thanks?
FairPlay to you fantastic job keep the good work up 👍
Thanks!!
Good job 👍❤️🙏
They make adhesives you can caulk on the back of the wood for extra security on the wall
We didn’t want to use glue in case we change our mind a few years ago. It would be hard to repair the drywall damage
beautiful job thank you
Great job! I will follow your style to decorate my movie room. Thanks alot
Amazing!! You’re so welcome!!
Great job!!!
Thank you!!
The first slat was installed "plumb" not "level". Plumb is vertical. Level is horizontal. This is a beautiful design.
I’ll remember that. Still learning
So you’ve never misspoken before?? How ridiculous
Thanks for sharing useful information..now it's useful for my salon decor
That’s amazing!!! Good luck
Great job, love it! What percentage of the wall was slats and what percentage was geometric figures?
Great idea Hannah forget all the haters looking good 👍🏻
Thanks so much Gary!! Gotta be the bigger person ☺️
I ' m learning on your vidéo. Amazing!
So lovely ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Were the wood slats expensive? Great job!
I don’t think so. They were about $150-$200 for this wall
Amazing job 👌
Awesome 😎💯 work indeed in fact this is kinda high end well 🙂 done ✅
Thank you for the video!!!! Copying this now!!!
Yes!!! Go for it!
Love this! I'm doing this to my downstairs. Did you have textured walls or flat?
Good Team Work.
It’s so helpful to have a partner for DIY projects! They go much faster
Don't worry about negativity make every situation educational we all learn from mistakes

great job
Thinking about that second cutout for the outlet I suppose a chisel might be a good tool to carve it out as well.
Hi Hana, when you mapped out the design using paint tape, do u measure the tape? Thanks
Çok muhteşem olmuş çok başarılı
That was a very nice video very helpful
Hello, It is interesting Cool. I am impressed. 👍
Gran trabajo!
Fantastic!!!! Did you upload part 2 yet?
Yes!! You can watch it here th-cam.com/video/Ibp7xaWrPDk/w-d-xo.html
Great video only one thing... i would have got new outlet box's fitted so that the face could have been fitted on top of the wood to give it a better finish
Same thought. They sell extenders that would have brought that box back to where they needed it
What is the color of the paint? Beautiful job❤

What kind of wood and what is the slates dimensions. Great Video 😊
This is 1x2 poplar!
Thank you 😊
Why we need to paint on the wall and where did you get that panels? Reply please??
What size slats? Maybe I missed to sizing.
It turned out amazing. Good job.
I want to do this on a bathroom ceiling.
They are 1x2 cut to the length we needed
@@Hanasdiyhome thank u
Good work
Can you tell me the wall paint color and paint brand? It's stunning!
It’s cyberspace by SW
Amazing 👏
Did you buy the slats or cut them from something? What was the total cost of the materials?
About $200. It’s 1x2 pine

@@Hanasdiyhome that's why they make proper slat wall channels and concealed covers, you don't see anything and screws are used as fixings
These comments 😢 why not just watch something else if you have nothing good to say?! I think she did great! It doesn't have to be for everyone
Can you tell me what kind and size if wood you used in this project.
Did you use wood that was already cut, for the slat wall? I am doing this under my house instead of lattice. I am trying to figure out what would to use.
They were already cut into 1x2 strips. Then we had the hardware store cut then to the height of the wall to make it easier for us.
Lovely video thanks a lot
Just a question
Which type of wood bars did you use, I know that pine wood will deform with the time
Mabye could you help me
Hey! We used poplar wood
Looking like a hotel
That’s an awesome compliment 🥰
Этот гвоздезабивной пистолет стоит, как весь ремонт в моей квартире))
Love it!!
Glad you like it!
Do you have a steel beam?
Très bon travail. Bravo.
Hi, what is the name of that yellow machine used for the slat wall installation?
What is it being nailed onto on the bacK?
Great ideas. But was painful to watch. Do you think the drywall will hold the slats forever?
It’s been a year and there’s been no issues at all. So yes. I do
😂 why painful to watch? It was fun to watch
@@sandiapillay9691 drilling nails into drywall will be ok for a very short time or as long as the slats are it disturbed I guess. They are not secured properly in the video I think.

you fired a brad nail into the wall around the socket... without checking the orientation of the cables? how were you sure you didnt or were not going to penetrate the cables???
I don’t think we nailed right around the outlet just in case.
You can connect the vacuum directly to the saw by the way ;-)
You’re right!! Miss in our part
Perfect🎉🎉
Wooden houses in America saying hello to hurricanes haha

It’s inside. No humidity issues. That’s what an air conditioner is for.
Did you not risk hitting any wiring with the nail gun near the wall sockets?
We aren’t using very long nails and tried to nail at the top and bottom where there is less chance of any wires. You can also get a stud finder that detects electrical too if your concerned about it!
Ηi
could you write me here in the comments what is the name of this yellow machine that you nailed to the wall?
Thanks
It’s a brad nailer
do you have a color code for the paint you used on the wall?
It’s by Sherwin Williams. It’s called cyber space
hello a question is your wall in wood? my wall is in concrete the nail gun is not good? thanks
No you will need to use a hammer drill, concrete screws and a masonry drill bit. Tbh it’s really hard to drill into concrete for this many slat
Level is horizontal….plumb is vertical.
Thanks for tip! Didn’t know that
And beans are on toast.
Hello Hana, what are the studs sizes and where did you bought them ?
They are 1x2 poplar
Hi, what sealant did you use please?
Polyurethane
What size slats did u use ?
What paint color is that?
Can you please help me with the color 🎨 code? 😊
What kind of wood did you use? How far the distance between the slats ??
It’s 1x2 poplar. We used the same board as a spacer but flipped on its side
Hola que marca es la pistola de clavos qué utilizo? Es muy hermoso el trabajo que realizaron saludos desde chile 🇨🇱
Hi how do you use the nail gun apart from pressing on it
You press it against the wall and then pull the trigger! You can practice on scrap wood before you try it on the wall
Looks great! How well do the brad nails hold in the drywall without hitting a stud?
Hi Taylor. Good question. We nailed them in an angle so they criss cross (like an x formation) so they are holding well. This helps to anchor nails when there is no stud. Also, No one is pulling them so I don’t anticipate any problems!
Hey tell me pls what was colour code by ral?
Mau tanya ka itu vinylnya habis brpa.?
Looks good.
And the actual retail price is…..?
Welcome to Canada 12$ per slat
Haha yea. And this is poplar so it was more 🤪
I like it
What’s the color spec of that paint
What size wood you use
1x2 poplar
Where did you purchase the slats?
Any hardware store should have them. They are 1x2 poplar wood
Did your friends get sick at the end?
Nope!!
Sory .. what machine you used to joint a wood and wall ?
It’s a nail gun. It’s linked in the description box.
What’s the divider piece you’re using to keep them divided while nailing
Hey Devionne! It’s actually the same piece of wood, but we flipped it on the short edge. You can use anything but we liked a smaller gap than the width of the board.
What's the end song?
