Love the refitting Penguin gave that old surplus pre-atomic submarine he purchased from the Navy. And equipped with Polaris missiles for Riddler to use as skywriters. As Biff Tannen said, "Great flick, great frickin flick!"
It's funny how you almost feel for the villains in this scene, even though you're rooting for the Duo at the same time. They are just loveable enough that you can appreciate the peril they are experiencing, especially when Catwoman screams for them to "DO SOMETHING!!", and Joker bellows for the submarine to _"SURFACE!! SURFACE!!"_
honestly i thought it was sweet when they had to grip the pole to stay steady, joker had his arm around catwoman and penguin was low-key holding riddler 🥺💖
When I was 6 year old, in 1966, My Dad took the family to the New York National boat show at the NY Collosseum at Columbus Circle and the Bat Boat was on display. Every kid , including me , lined up just to get a glimpse of it. Later on in life , I discovered it was just a 17 ft factory made Glasstron with all kinds of fake gadgets and modifications made. But for that one February night in 1966 I believed it was Batmans boat.
Good Old Cesar Romero, a Pro to The Last, I love how he starts jumping up and down when he starts shrieking "Surface! Surface!". I swear he had no idea the pyrotechnics were gonna ignite that close to him, but he never broke character. Villainy is a dire place when The Joker is only sensible person in the room.
This is one of those sequences that you feel almost goes on for two long yet if it were shortened it wouldn't be nearly as fun or satisfying to watch, lol
Batman: Some days, you just can't get rid of a bomb! Batman: Robin, listen to these riddles. Tell me if you interpret them as l do. One. What has yellow skin and writes? Robin: A ball-point banana! Batman: Right. Two. What people are always in a hurry? 🤯
@@Captain_cannon Entirely possible. Even if he hasn't it's clear they're using depth charges and he's familiar enough with Batman to know that he labels everything he uses as "Bat-whatever."
@@Wright805 exactly but he has dealt with them before in a 3 part special episode where the penguin builds a tank out of gold, if I remember correctly Batman used bat-charges to stop the tanks
Love both the late great Caesar Romero and Frank Gorshin! They played a damn good role as both the Clown Prince of Crime and the Crime Prince of Puzzles my favorite Batman's Rogues!
Fun fact Tim Burton was going to have Burgess Meredith The penguin in the beginning of Batman returns playing penguins father. but then purchase Meredith couldn't do it at the time because he was sick. So they got the guy who played Pee-wee Herman instead
This is such a cool scene. I love the way they all start going crazy every time the submarine gets shot, and they the huge fight begins with Batman and Robin on the boat. Also, did anyone else notice the Penguin’s hat fell off at 1:02?
Batman won't let robin drive the bat-mobile because he doesn't have a license and is only 15 but he'll let him explode ppl and drive a helicopter occasionally. Smart.
Yo-ho! Compartments A, B and C are taking green water, sir. Aah! Penguin! Penguin, you know I can’t take water! Oh, you cowardly kitten! Do you want to live forever?! Waagghh! @@JoeChillton it's interesting; I wonder if the cartoonish Pow effects come from budget restrains or was that simply the aesthetic they were going for?
This scene is absolutely dynamic. The score is swashbuckling and the villains getting their butts kicked is too satisfying
2:08 The way how Joker ordered the crew was PRICELESS, he sure was PANICKING! XD
One of the best scenes of the movie. It is so funny to see The Joker giving the order to surface. It was so him. 😂🤣😂🤣
I agree, definitely one of the funniest scenes in the movie.
@@MyGuyJustinH of all four of the villains, imagine, The Joker is only one who came to his senses in time to avoid sinking...

I love the jolt Burt does with every shot. He really sells it. This is such a great guilty fun fest!
Yes, he does it well
He sold EVERY fight.

I'm with Joker and Riddler, that bird had flown around the bend to Cuckoo Land.
I agree 👍
Ironic, since Penguin is actually a clinically stable individual unlike those two! 😅

I remember wanting the Bat-Charge Launcher just as much as I wanted the Total Dehydrator.
1:31 Joker getting a handful...sly old dog!
I don't think that was intentional. He was trying not to fall on the floor while the Submarine was getting shot at.
0:08 when robin gets dumped by batgirl for 2 seconds
You know, it just reminded me. How the hell does penguin know exactly what they’re using? Like how does he know they’re called bat charges?

I seriously don’t understand why they couldn’t have the bat charges or some of these other gadgets in some of the modern movies

It would take a hundred-thousand of these weapons to take down the Hollywood monster.
This what should happen to every bad guy submarine and I always the Bat Charges.
