Joe Cocker puts himself in the music he sings. He sings so loud and great, his tongue shows itself. He gets so lost in it, he becomes the instrument itself. He is a LEGEND

My dad saw him live in 68 or 69, he also saw Hendrix & Joplin, when I was 14 he took me to see fleetwood Mac on New Years eve, it was their 1st reunion as a band in quite some time. These are the musicians who inspired me in my youth to pursue songwriting. Joe Cocker was so very special, I hope one of the new talents in WV like Jake Kohn will get the nerve to cover 1 of his songs. ❤

Found this a couple of weeks ago and watched it at least once every day since. Everything about it is perfect: the song takes him over when he sings it, the bass line, the guitar solo, the way he plays along. One of the greatest performances I’ve ever seen and the album recording doesn’t even do it justice. RIP Joe Cocker

I don’t think I have ever felt the commitment by any other singer like Joe. Much as I love “With A Little Help”, this song from 1968 has all the qualities and exuberance of that time (in my life I would be 13 when life was alive made possible by people like Joe Cocker. Who else cold deliver that gravelly voice?

I think half of the people who were there were tripping on acid. Fans and performers. Carlos Santana had that famous quote saying " the guitar`s neck " was moving like a snake and I was trying to keep it still" " that is why you see me making those faces with my eyes closed". But they still played a great set, one of the best of all that played there. Joe is possessed with the music they are playing imo. Legendary performance there.

The guy is indestructible! He is still touring and making music 43 years later! The same cannot be said for many of his peers of that generation. Then guy should be in the RRHOF. He is the real deal. Hit records in the 60's, 70's, 80's 90's and 2000's. Too bad the HOF people do not recognize his contribution, as one of the iconic classic rock voices of them all.

here's the lyrics i got from this amazing performance:
    somethin's comin' on,
don’t know what it is but its gettin' stronger
    everywhere i go
things are takin me a lil bit longer
    feel it in my head
somethings coming on just like a rainstorm
    doing things to me yehh
turnin’ on the things that never been turned on
    then she came in
    like she’d been gamin'
    ohh everybody else
    i asked her proudly
    she answered kinda loudly
spent her life on the shelf
    somethings coming on
never had a thing I'm just gon' find it
    somethings telling me
everywhere i go I’m all around it
    feel it in my head
somethings coming on just like a rainstorm
    doing things to me
turning over things that never been turn on
    then she came in
    looking like she’d been gamin'
    everybody else
    I asked proudly
    she answered kinda loudly
spent her life up on the shelf
    I’m gonna take this
before, i get the chance to waste it
    somethings coming on
never had a thing i just can’t waste it
    everywhere i go
people telling me I’m gonna taste it
    even if i love ahh
happens to the head that same old feelin
    feel it in my soul
takin me to fall right through that ceiling
    then she came in
    looking like she’d been gamin'
    and everybody else
    I asked proudly
    she answered kinda loudly
spent her life on the shelf
    gotta set it down boy
get it down my soul now

what a great *GREAT* band! (and sound-quality)
(I couldn't get a word of the lyrics, though, so here it is:
(not quite what Joe is singing, though)
Something coming on, don't know what it is but it's getting stronger
Feeling in my bones, hope you let it last a little bit longer
Breaking out my head, doing things I never even dreamed of
Rolling up my spine, turning on the things that'd never been turned on
    Suddenly she came in
    Looked like she'd been gaming
    Doing things with everybody else
    When I called out loudly
    She answered kind o' proudly
She spent her life upon the shelf
Something coming on, don't know what it is but it's getting stronger
I've got a feeling in my bones, and I hope you let it last a little bit longer
Breaking out my head, I've been doing things I never even dreamed of
Well, rolling up my spine, turning on my things that'd never been turned onTalk about the woman

+Boris B this is what i made out!
      somethin's comin' on,
don’t know what it is but its gettin' stronger
      everywhere i go
things are takin me a lil bit longer
      feel it in my head
somethings coming on just like a rainstorm
      doing things to me yehh
turnin’ on the things that never been turned on
      then she came in
      like she’d been gamin'
      oh everybody else
      i asked her proudly
      she answered kinda loudly
spent her life on the shelf
      somethings coming on
never had a thing I'm just gon' find it
      somethings telling me
everywhere i go I’m all around it
      feel it in my head
somethings coming on just like a rainstorm
      doing things to me
turning over things that never been turn on
      then she came in
      looking like she’d been gamin'
      everybody else
      I asked proudly
      she answered kinda loudly
spent her life up on the shelf
      I’m gonna take this
before, i get the chance to waste it
      somethings coming on
never had a thing i just can’t waste it
      everywhere i go
people telling me I’m gonna taste it
      even if i love ahh
happens to the head that same old feelin
      feel it in my soul
takin me to fall right through that ceiling
      then she came in
      looking like she’d been gamin'
      and everybody else
      I asked proudly
      she answered kinda loudly
spent her life on the shelf
      gotta set it down boy
get it down my soul now
