  • I received this donation recently and was shocked to see what was waiting for me in the box. A follower had sent this in when she noticed a vintage wedding dress, from her local high school theater where she volunteered, was in horrible shape and about to be thrown away. I'm so happy she decided to send it my way instead. This may be a HUGE challenge. Wish me luck, I'll do the best I can with this one...even if I might have to make some risky decisions.

Oh my goodness. In the 60s we had the same table and chairs. I would hide pieces of liver on the edge under the table and feed it to the dog after supper. Lol.

personally I find soaking things in oxiclean unscented, dye-free powder and blue dawn dish soap mixed in the water takes out a ton of stains ... of course, I haven't tried on a vintage wedding gown yet ( though mine does need cleaning at some point ) Good luck with these gowns you're doing and please make more videos of them, or show us pics of how they turned out !

English net with embroidered lace. I think it's called chifferella.

Well since it is pre ruined you can afford to take chances.

This looks like Flemish ( Belgian) lace. I have a baptism gown that is made in the same kind of lace. Bought it new in 1974 for my firstborn and is since worn my my children and three granddaughters. The little flowers and leaves are handsewn on a tule base fabric.wonder how this ended?

    Stains could be rust stains.
I used to work with donated wedding gowns for Angel grown group.
Been a while, but I think I added borax to the detergent to help remove the stains.
Soaked for a long time. Pre-disolved the washing powders & borax well before adding the dresses.
Then put through a few rinse cycles of washing machine.
I use this method on some white cotton tops that have sat in wardrobe not used for a while that had rust.
Hope you were able to rejuvenate it.

You could dye it another colour and turn it into an evening dress
