There is a phenomenon that happens with brides....they get SO caught up in the idea of (the fantasy of) perfection that they end up unnecessarily spending thousands on a dress when there often is not much difference. Good for you!
Oh Jordan-you look beautiful in the 2nd dress! Love that you thrifted it cuz a new dress is such a waste of money for one day. The money your saving on the dress can be used for other things. Way to go GIRL!!!❤
Yes! so many dresses cost thousands of dollars and then you never wear it again. I love the idea of giving a perfectly good dress another chance in the sun
You should be thrilled… looks soo good on you straight outa the box- - just imagine what it would look like once it’s professionally cleaned and steamed… I think you SCORED ❣️
U look beautiful in both dresses. I am watching say yes to the dress and all the waste of expensive thousands of dollars 💵 could go to a vacation back to Ireland or anything u and your husband to be, needed...both of those dresses look two to five thousand dollars and such great 😃 prices u got ...the ivory soap does work u can use it on cotton and polyester it does wonders. Lv u
I was a Bridal Consultant for 12 years and also am a tailor. First, the Ivory soap does indeed work, need to rub it with a damp soft cloth. Second, you shouldn't be trying to clean it while wearing it and sitting on the floor, just trying to help. Have a wonderful wedding day! By the way, I agree the second dress is a good choice.
Smart girl you look gorgeous in the dress! 41 years ago I took my older sisters$1200 dress and had it altered to fit me. From size 12 to 8. I had the long sleeves depuffed and made the long train into a demi train. It cost me $100. I saved my parents $1100 !!!❤🎉👍👏
The second dress is stunning on you! It looks like it was made just for you. I love a ruched ivory wedding dress very similar to this, however I only have a picture. I don't have any idea the cost, or even what the back looks like. This will be amazing for your wedding day!
I’ve had a bridal wear obsession for 45 years. I go to the trunk shows, watch the new styles in Barcelona, and simply study each designer and trends. THIS gown grew on you for you! You are STUNNING! Great choice!
You know Jordan you sitting down and cleaning your dress is actually very beautiful picture watching you get excited plus the fact that you only paid 30.00 dollars for it ,your going look stunning on your special day. ❤❤❤
Please don't put Satin or silk in the bathtub. Just get it dry cleaned. It may only cost 100 to 150 to get it dry cleaned and have beading reattached. Love the 2nd one and you can get a ivory panel from a bridal shop for the back.
You can put satin and silk in the bath tub. Hand washing is the only way to clean them. I have done it many times and it doesn't hurt the fabric at all. Just be sure to line dry no dryer.
There is nothing wrong at all with washing satin or silk in the tub. I had a satin dress that I used for YEARS for a weekly activity and my grandmother would hand wash it in cold water with soft soap and it would come out radiant every time. We would then line dry it and iron the pleats and it was good as new. Having that experience I decided to wash my own wedding gown before and after using it (A friend loaned me her dress as a wedding present) and when I returned it to her she was amazed because it was better looking than when she gave it to me. I managed to restore it to it's original shade of white because it had become off-white because of the storing. I algo repaired all the loose threads and some missing beads. Sometimes "only 100 to 150$" can be a lot of money for some of us... no need to waste money if you can do the job yourself well.
The first dress was very pretty. The second dress is stunning. It was made for you. The draping over the hip is so reminiscent of the way dresses draped in the 1890s and early 1900s. It lends a touch of bygone elegance without being an antique replica. You are a wise bride to see that you can have a beautiful dress without vastly overspending. And you are helping to be a sustainable citizen! My wedding was somewhat bohemian and my husband wore a very handsome handmade vest from Nepal and I wore a white cotton sundress with red trim that I borrowed from an acquaintance. I gave the dress back and have not seen it in 47 years. I've still got the husband though so it's all good!
So glad you found a reasonably priced dress; it was gorgeous on you. PLEASE don't wait until the night before to steam it in case something goes wrong! I think getting it cleaned professionally would be good! I got my wedding dress (for my second wedding) at SEARS (?!?) on a clearance rack for $90 in '88! I suspected it might have been worn for a wedding or even a prom with underarm shields as there was only one dirt smudge on it...but the price was SO right. When my daughter got married, I found a $30 dress with jacket in a consignment store!
Only Jordan would sit on the floor and clean a Wedding Dress. You always make me smile 😊. I wonder if a very pale pink or blue or green insert would look good in the back. My wedding dress cost $100.00 in 1970 at a bougie dress shop. In 1998 my young grandaughter wore it as an Halloween costume. She made into a scary bride look. Guess that was my way of recycling.
Yes, yes, yes on the second dress! Smart young lady to thrift. Don't understand how some brides-to-be think spending thousands of $ when it's only for one day.
Yes the second dress is beautiful and perfect! Amazing how you cleaned it! I would check all the seams etc and then have it cleaned professionally! If you shop for a wedding veil I would take a piece of fabric the color of your dress with me to see if the color matches…. in indoor light and outside in the sun, daylight! Same for shoe shopping! Congratulations! I know you are so happy! Your husband to be is wonderful too! God bless both of you!🙏❤️🕊️
Loved loved the second dress. I think it is very smart going second hand. Brides spend thousands and wear it once. That dress is very classy and timeless. You will love it in your pictures 25 years from now. I would not dry clean it. Google how to clean the kind of fabric it is. I’d use a hand held steamer after it is clean. The length was perfect. I can see it with a beautiful veil. I hope we see bits of your wedding on your channel. I’m excited for you. Lots of luck getting everything. I don’t know if you’re having a sit down meal for the reception. I have see people mix and match China. It was beautiful.
I borrowed a 50's dress for my 70s wedding. It was beautiful and fit like it was custom made for me, I believe when you put it out there things come to you. Keep making lists before you go to thrift stores. I am 68 and have always felt the universe provides when you ask. Good luck in all you do. I just subscribed and will be enjoying your fun.

Second dress is wonderful! I recommend a necklace on the day, perhaps pearls, or a sparkly necklace and earrings and bracelet that compliments the necklace. Congratulations and may you have a wonderful day and many to come!
Good for You! A thrifted dress is YOUR DRESS! It's perfect for you. As for the back panel, yes a piece of fabric inset may work, or it may bunch up, so secure it well. I'd think about the petticoat you'll need for the skirt to take the right shape. In that case, a slip may have the right backing on it (strapless of course!). You look phenomenal. Oh, what about a glitzy belt to bring more bling, if you want more. Best wishes on your wedding! This is the first time I've seen your channel and I love weddings! Have a blessed day! 💖 ✝👰🤵✨🎁💍🎩🔔🔔🎹🎵🍰🥂PS when I tried to get my wedding dress cleaned I was told that the sparkles and sequins would melt, so if you go that route, beware!
We got so lucky when my daughter was dress shopping. There was a thrift store in a nearby town that specialized in formal gowns. The entire basement was racks and racks of gowns, from prom to bridesmaid to mother of the bride to bridal. My daughter is so tiny that we didn't think we'd find one, but we did! She bought forest green ribbon to close up the corset back, and that pop of color was stunning.
Looks fantastic. I got married in September last year in 3 days from proposal to wedding…wish I could have had a wedding dress, but I’m lucky to have found the best man in the world….good luck!
The second dress is beautiful. I can wait to see you on your wedding day. One thing I almost forgot to day should try your dress with the shoes you are going to wear on your wedding.
Jordan. Wonderful dresses the 2nd seemed so perfect I love how excited and happy you are. And enjoyed how you were cleaning it and explained that even with professional cleaning it will be less than buying brand new. And I wanted to add when your taking pictures you sitting down with the dress around you I think will be a sweet one because just seeing you sitting with it now was such a beautiful sweet moment in time.
The second dress is gorgeous! After just having my daughter's wedding, I wish she would have tried thrifting a dress. It would have saved soooo much. I have some cleaner called Dryell. If they still make it, it is great for getting stains out of dry clean only clothes. There is also another cleaning item for dry cleaning. It is cloth stuffed with some kind of powder. Good luck with your dress and congratulations!
I think that you would be able to wash the 2nd one in the bath tub with a mild soap now that you have spot cleaned it. It seems to be the standard wedding fabric for wedding gowns unless it is real silk. Then I would take it to a dry cleaner. I had made my daughter's wedding gown from the standard satin wedding material. During the wedding, she had stained it with wine and the usual dirt on the hem and we knew that it would have to be cleaned. So because I had some leftover scraps, I washed the material in water to see how it would react. I didn't see any material changes to the scrap, so into the bathtub went the gown. The wine stain and the dirt came out with a light scrubbing of soap (Ivory) with a soft brush and then I just swished the gown around in the lukewarm water with Tide detergent in it. I then hung it up on a sturdy hangar ( the dresses are very heavy to begin with) in the bathtub to drip dry after I rinsed it. It came out beautifully. For those who might be wondering, the materials cost app. $300 +70 hours of sewing and beading @15.00/hr.
For some reason, watching your excitement while cleaning that second dress, was awesome! The gown is gorgeous on you. Your wedding planning is so much fun to watch. 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Great job! If you steam it, do the inside as well. Seems weird but it kills germs. I'd thrift a dress but I'm plus sized so harder to find cute ones and I'd have to pay for alternations anyway. BUT My bridesmaids dress (my sister's wedding ) just came in the mail yesterday, reg $160, on clearance for $35 🥳 im adding flutter sleeves for $35 and my wedding dress (2019) was boho beautiful and on clearance for $50 👏💕
I was married in the late 1960’s. I was paying for a lot of my wedding, including the dress. A really fancy one from a big bridal boutique ran about $250, but that was way beyond my budget. I had a friend who was a wonderful seamstress, who made it.I picked a very simple elegant Vogue pattern. The satin cost $15 including zipper thread etc. The Valencon lace used to trim it added $60 so my whole ensemble came to $75. My sweet mom in law made the veil and I borrowed a pretty bridal headpiece. One thing about the simplicity was that it still doesn’t look dated in the photos. You probably couldn’t make it for this today, so the thrifted dress was a real bargain. And quite beautiful on her.
What a wonderful story. I love how the people around you came together to make your day special, that's what its really all about. Couldn't have had a more beautiful and supportive wedding with all that love around you
As a clothing reseller, when I find really good wedding dresses in the thrift store, I love the challenge of trying to make them like new again and I love selling them to someone looking for a bargain. I've found designer gowns for under $75, but surprisingly most gowns, under $40. I avoid anything with beads (tend to fall off, impossible to clean without professional help, be missing, hard to replace unique ones), I don't buy anything that's faded, reeks of perfume, or has deep dark stains. Definitely no rips especially in tulle unless it's on a seam, and I avoid super heavy dresses with extremely long trains (hard to store, expensive to ship, you need to lift weights to deal with washing them by yourself). A good 85% of the time, hand scrubbing stains with dawn soap usually on hems, armpits, underskirts, and bust lines for make-up will get those stains out. Then a couple hours soak in Oxyclean will restore the white to the whitest white, then I will drop them in the largest fine mesh bag I could find on Amazon and wash them on gentle cycle for anything else. Finally a good air dry and steam, and they are good to go. Oxy did discolor some buttons once, but they were easy to replace, but other than that, the dresses are good to go for resale. I've only had to toss a few where stains were either so old and set in nothing budged them, or I discovered some damage where the dress could not be recovered (too costly to have it professionally cleaned or to take a seamstress who would charge more than what I bought it for).
Wow, the title of your video drew me in. Excellent shopping. Both were good but the 2nd one, the color and fit are perfect. Just treat yourself with a professional clean and press for the big day. You have a fun personality and best wishes for a beautiful wedding. I really love 2nd dress !!👰
Smart move Jordan! Thrift your wedding girl…it’s one day. Then over. Bills from wedding rolls in and puts damper on yall life! Kudos to you for being so young. Brilliant. And Thrifty matured 👌🏽😅
Jordan, that is absolutely gorgeous. You look beautiful in it. My wedding dress 24 years ago a bridal shop here in Indiana was Going Out of business. And I got a $900 dress for $40. And available for 5 and it was stunning. I'm so happy for you. I can't Wait to saysee the rest.❤❤❤❤
You might be able to find a person who does alterations who can make an insert to go under the lacing in the back using some of the extra fabric from the train, so it will be a perfect match with the dress.
Jordan, you are beautiful, and so is your dress! I didn't get my dress at a thrift store, but I did get it at a traditional clothing store. After some unfruitful shopping at wedding dress stores, I was walking past a clothing store that had a beautiful, off white, lacy dress in its window and went in. The dress was perfect! Total price $65 CAD. Not quite your level, but good enough for me. PS. The bridesmaids ended up wearing the same dress in colours.
Tears Jordan! Yes! And it is called rouching. If it's not crazy expensive get it professionally detailed. Have a friend tie you into it. You might not need an insert if it covers down low unless you want the whole back covered. But you have both time and budget right now to make this dress all yours! I love it for you!
I got my dress for $20 because it had a pen mark down the front. Cleaners got it out and I saved a ton of money! You look lovely in both but the second is the best.
I wore my Mom' s wedding gown. I needed a hoop and it needed to be taken out by the bust. It was all cha fully lace, long sleeve with a widows peak. I also used her Tierra headpiece a had a fingertip veil made, it did have to be dry cleaned. This was 41 years ago. Total for gown$150.00! The buttons all the way down back were the real deal, no zipper!
A coworker found a very nice 1990s dress in an antique mall, she had it cleaned and altered (puffy sleeves reworked, waistline reworked and train shortened and some other minor stuff).I went to the wedding, the dress was stunning and she spent about 300 dollars.
Dress number two is your dress, Jordan. I hope you can get the great results with cleaning. Please keep us informed with the end result. I agree get it professionally cleaned and pressed. I didn’t thrift my dress, this was back in 1978, I did go to a bridal shop during a sale and found exactly what I wanted.
Get in touch with the textiles/costume department of a local museum to find a restorer who can refresh your dress. Dry cleaning will put frightening chemicals in the fabric which will be next to your skin all day.
The dress you chose is gorgeous! Mine came from Penney’s and I also had “fake” flowers! You couldn’t even tell! This was in the 70s they are much better now😂😉

Wow what a fun niche!
omg u look beautiful this dress is a winner girl. good luck god bless.
You couild even have the second dress Dry Cleaned and it would be pressed and perfect for your wedding!
Your mom will be so proud. It looks beautiful and like it was made for you.
I would most definitely buy and wear a thrifted gown, esp if it looked as good as that second one on you. What a steal!
Oh Wow Jordan ❤don’t wast a cent on another dress 💕that dress is just perfection and looks absolutely stunning on you🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸
Amazing find beautiful dress 👗 ❤
Jordan, you are beautiful, and so is your dress! I didn't get my dress at a thrift store, but I did get it at a traditional clothing store. After some unfruitful shopping at wedding dress stores, I was walking past a clothing store that had a beautiful, off white, lacy dress in its window and went in. The dress was perfect! Total price $65 CAD. Not quite your level, but good enough for me. PS. The bridesmaids ended up wearing the same dress in colours.
Love the way the 2nd dress fit. You are going to look gorgeous on the big day. ❤ JoAnn
Tears Jordan! Yes! And it is called rouching. If it's not crazy expensive get it professionally detailed. Have a friend tie you into it. You might not need an insert if it covers down low unless you want the whole back covered. But you have both time and budget right now to make this dress all yours! I love it for you!
The second dress you look beautiful.
thank you
Looks awesome on you.
Thank you
I love the 2nd dress you tried on. It looks so like you! Thanks for sharing!
I hope you get it cleaned and wear it for your wedding it’s beautiful and so are you!!!!! Congrats on saving on the wedding
I got my dress for $20 because it had a pen mark down the front. Cleaners got it out and I saved a ton of money! You look lovely in both but the second is the best.
Stunning!! Glad the stains came out so easily too.
Clorox Bleach for Unbleachables will clean any stain. If polyester, you can wash it in a double front loader on delicate.
Thank you!
4:15 ❤❤❤Love Love Love how that second dress fits! 🥰
Jordan, Love love the second dress!
The second dress is stunning. What a fun video!
thanks for coming along!
That 2nd dress is gorgeous on you!
Love that second dress! You are going to be a gorgeous bride!!!
Thank you I am so excited
The second dress is just gorgeous on you…it looks like it was made for you! 💐🙌🏻❤️
Great finds! I think both are beautiful.
A coworker found a very nice 1990s dress in an antique mall, she had it cleaned and altered (puffy sleeves reworked, waistline reworked and train shortened and some other minor stuff).I went to the wedding, the dress was stunning and she spent about 300 dollars.
incredibly! I love giving life back to clothes
2nd dress a winner, looks vintage 👍
Exciting! The dress is beautiful 😍
What a beautiful dress! I would absolutely wear a thrifted wedding dress! How exciting!
That gown is beautiful!
Very pretty. Good job.
Get in touch with the textiles/costume department of a local museum to find a restorer who can refresh your dress. Dry cleaning will put frightening chemicals in the fabric which will be next to your skin all day.
I love this advice! will be looking to see who I can find! Thank you
Beautiful choice!
Number two is gorgeous!
The dress you chose is gorgeous! Mine came from Penney’s and I also had “fake” flowers! You couldn’t even tell! This was in the 70s they are much better now😂😉
