SheSpace: A co-working space just for women!

An innovative co-working space in Houston’s Heights is giving women a place to find a community and reach for their dreams.
SheSpace is much more than just an office space. The brightly-colored, 8,000 square foot space is Houston’s first all-female co-working space. Complete with a podcast studio, a pop-up shop, a community space, event spaces and private office areas, it’s the perfect place for female professionals and entrepreneurs who need a place to work and connect.
SheSpace was first started by mother and daughter-in-law team Stephanie Tsuru and Katie Tsuru during the pandemic.
"More than fifty percent of the businesses started in the last decade have been started by women, and yet there really were no workspaces for women," said Stephanie Tsuru, co-founder of SheSpace. "Fifty percent of women are in independent fields. They’re contractors, they’re freelancers, they’re entrepreneurs. A place needed to be born for women to come together."
Her daughter-in-law, Katie, also saw the need for a female-focused workspace.
"I wanted to work in a place that had all the amenities and support for a new mom like myself that was struggling," said Katie Tsuru, co-founder of SheSpace. "And then at the same time, my mother-in-law Stephanie, who’s very passionate about mentoring women, had the same idea. She wanted to create a space for women."
SheSpace currently provides a workplace for 33 women, from architects to construction managers and bankers. The space is open seven days a week, from 7am-11pm.
"Every woman’s schedule is so different," said Stephanie Tsuru. "We don’t live or work on a 9 to 5. That’s not how the world works anymore."
