@@OokisMcFlookis they actually do clean up decent even the old ones. I bought my first Boss Wazacraft pedal the DC-2w, I am on the edge of buying this one as my distortion to add with my TS808HW tube screamer, I am into Texas blues, not into distortion much, it’s too bad you did not demo this with a Stratocaster, great demo best one I have heard yet.
@@bryanherward4679 the CE-2W and DC-2W do not have a bad sound in them(neither do the vintage versions). Not only do they sound incredible on a clean tone which is expected, but they both truly come alive with some gain. It’s a massive sound that just takes up the room and slices through a mix
The MXR 78 badass is a staple on my board. Has the keeley mod replicated. But I use it for lower to mid gain dirt... if I want to push it I use a high output bridge pick up. I'd definitely be interested in this waza version though! Fantastic playing and beautiful tones!
I’ve been playing for 30 years and yet somehow have never owned a DS-1 (I do have about 10 other BOSS pedals currently, though). About to buy this one. Sounds great.
When I started playing in middle school I was walking home with my gig bag and my neighbor stopped me. Took me too his garage and showed me his workshop. He was making homemade telecasters and he gave me a old ammunition box filled with old school goodies. I got a few old PAF pickups pulled out of Gibsons and in there was also a DS-1… that thing I had so little understanding of that I traded it for a “better” digitech distortion 🤦🏽♂️ it took mean a couple decades of playing to really understand the DS-1 and then of course I just had to get one again. Been using a boss DS-1 anniversary since I liked the all black case instead. People still seem to be in disbelief every time I show them this old staple of a pedal just plugged straight into my tube amp.
Do not really care for this pedal, but I watch the video because you did it. Why the hell does your channel not have more subscribers? I don't get it. Love your content! By the way, I discoverd you through the Chase Bliss YT
I have a 1979 ds1 and I’m not one of those guys that just says “because it’s old it’s better” but man it’s special it has such a good organic sound compared to my 40$ ds1 don’t ask me why, I’m sure someone here might know why but its amazing. Now with the waza craft version out I’m going to have to get it to collected the trio
I'm still kind of struggling with it. The problem is I love the dirt channel on my amp but wanted something different for some variety. When I use the DS-1 through the dirt it just doesn't sound as good as the dirt by itself. Yes it's different, but just not as good. I have to try it in the clean channel next and see if that's any better for me. If not, back it goes.
One of the ideas of stacking dirt is you put a little bit of dirt into an amp that's breaking up. You don't put super high gain stage into another one that's already cranked. You dial pedal to have a little bit of grit, and you put it into something that has a little bit of grit. Put together they create one, saturated, thick sound. It's same idea with pedals stacking with pedals, same thing.
I was hoping for a few AC/DC bars or some ZZ top. New sub and i’ll check out your back vids. Few bars of Hendrix or SRV? killer tone. I dont’ need any more guitar pedals but ima reward myself with 3 boss pedals for bday/Christmas…thanks man…!!
Sounds like classic 90s stuff - Robert Plant, Fate of Nations album. I hate distortion but this particular sound is actually one of my top 3 sounds 'of all time'.
I always found that with my DS-1! Go pass 12 and it doesn’t sound great :) always keep it back! I know players who would crank everything?? Sound terrible and then Blame pedals :)
That's the whole point in showing the dry signal first, so you get an idea of what the amp is doing before the pedal is engaged. 'Neutral' is equally unhelpful because 'neutral' is no amp at all. The amp settings here is the ballpark of where the DS1 shines best: Dark amps &/or overdriven amps. The custom setting might help it with typical Fender mid-scooped cleans though, not sure it'll replace darker AITB type pedals though.
i love distortion, too much. I truly believe that unless you can fit half a dozen pre amp tubes in a pedal, it will never sound like an amp. my motto is "never send a pedal to do an amps job" and I will die before I use a distortion pedal
How good is that cleanup?
I was shocked! I never expected that from a ds1
Very good. I want to buy one now
Yes, I agree. Please, Boss, I also would like a free pedal sent to me. Thank you in advance!

Woahhhhhhhh Sasha! You've outdone yourself here. That's some playing. We're glad that you are enjoying the DS-1W.
Thanks!! You should get one, I think you’d love it!
Wtf BOSS makes crappy distortion pedals. This sounds amazing. I’m so confused. My world no longer makes sense
@@tubingforever I suggest taking a look at some more boss pedals, most of them are genuinely excellent
@@tubingforever *WAZA CRAFT* bruh
@@LunaWorldcast I mean off the assembly line ones also sound great if you know how to use them and plug them into a half decent amp.
Never heard a DS-1 sound good for bluesy licks - well done!
This is the only demo that you need for this pedal (old version or new waza version). Impecable as always Sasha!!
Thanks Vlad!
I hope this channel gets some love and traction in the demo world. Such an underrated channel, perhaps, but killer playing, cool gear, nice dude.

Great tones. Nice demo, Sasha. Gotta have one of those. It will be my 5th one. I have a modded DS-1 and a stock one now. That tone is awesome, Sasha.
One of the best distortions ever made. I have a '86 DS1 in my rig and it's a great pedal and very versatile.
Your very good at displaying pedals....guitar, pedals, amp and you....perfect. Now I'm going to buy it. Thanks for the review
Nice playing! Worlds beyond the average gear demo pentatonic noodling. Musical and soulful.
I didn’t plan on getting one of these. I knew I shouldn’t have watched your demo!! I’m going to have to order one now. That intro jam was astonishing.
Loved the tones fella .. great demo .. I have a Keeley modded one but that new custom mode is something else ..

How good is that custom mode!!! Cream era Clapton tone to my ears, and yes, I just bought one.
DS-1 was my first pedal. Thank you for your time. I loved this demo.
The Waza line just continues to be amazing. I cannot have a board without a CE-2W on it and I wasn't even that huge on chorus until I bought one.

It is the metal screw instead of the black screw that adds all the tone!

Btw would love to see you jam out with Chris Buck :) just discovered your channel very cool vids, subscribed!
thats a nice looking guitar 🤩
This van go nxt to my tried n true metal zone pedal.
Newbie question. How does he not get a load of hum and hiss with the volume on the pedal turned all the way up?
Volume generally doesn’t introduce a lot more hum, just a little bit. it’s the gain knob that can do that.

What strings do you prefer to use on your electric guitars?
What guitar are you playing during the intro? That thing is beautiful
That’s a Baum Wingman!
Anyone who hates distortion is crazy. Its better than overdrive or fuzz.
With a long dash it would be perfect.😉
wow
I think the trick with the DS-1 is to not turn the tone or dist past noon…
I think that rule applies to all overdrive and distortion pedals if you want to stay in the range they perform best in!

Your clean tone is really dark... I think this has affected the overall output. Would be better for a more neutral tonal palette.
I like it dark!
@@SashaIvantic but that's not why we listen to pedal reviews...
Sometimes I like it dark too but I know it's useful in this particular context.

@@soundknight get over it man, if you dont like the clean tone then make your own demo with a clean tone more along the lines of your own tastes
Decent demo but the constant shaking of the guitar is distracting, makes the guitar look like it suffers from Parkinson’s.
