- In this video, I show you how to take a wired Apple Carplay/Android Auto connection and make it a wireless Apple Carplay or wireless Android Auto. This is done via the Android AI Auto box which runs a version of Android 9.0. You can run just about any Android app such as Netflix, TH-cam, Google Maps, etc. and allows you to download via APK files as well. Update on the sound/popping issue. I THINK this is an issue with Pandora and not the dongle. I have noticed the same issue with BT headphones on my computer.
I have this, and honestly, using this with a data SIM just makes it a seamless experience, just turn on your car and wait for it to boot up, no messing with hotspot reliability
The main purpose for my use of Android Auto is directional mapping. Everything else is secondary and in most cases unnecessary. If the mapping doesn't work it is a waste of time and money. The same thing applies to your review of the Motorola dongle.
pretty cool thing is wired android auto doesn't give access of youtube but this dongle does

Yeah it's pricey but you can find it cheaper elsewhere.

Couple questions... 1) can you play vids (Netflix, TH-cam etc) while moving? And 2) does this bypass the nagscreens from things like Spotify while moving? Sick of it not letting me scroll and search around while moving with my current wired AA, using Spotify and stuff.
Technically its possible but not safe. You should be able to use Spotify like normal without interruptions.
Do you note any improvement in the general car audio playing music from the AI box?
Yes there is a noticeable improvement using any USB input over the standard BT. This may not be the case in all cars but because mine has a very old BT chip and no additional amplifier, the USB input offers the best input for audio output.
Has anyone figured out how to use a second cell phone work like what you call a dongle? The main phone would connect to the cell phone plugged into the USB port.
What is the connected application?
With Android 9, using this device, do you always have to manually connect with phone? Or it connection automatic, like it is with android 10?

So to be clear. If I leave my house and am in some random parking lot. If I do not have wifi it will not use my phones data to do TH-cam etc... I have to have a Sim card for the unit itself?
I did not test connecting/tethering it to my phone's hotspot or data but it likely would be an option.

Do you see any lag between the phone and wireless device when watching video (ex. mouth not matching song)?
Nope audio and video seem to sync up very well. Both the audio and video are being played directly from the wireless dongle so nothing is coming from the phone.

Does this allow me to change the audio output of android auto? I want to play through by Bluetooth bone conducting ear piece. When I connect AA it forces everything to my speakers.
I am uncertain if you could allow only audio through that device. I would guess no, but there could be a workaround.

Would this work on a Harley Davidson entertainment system?
If it has wired Apple Carplay I don't see why not.
The website says it only works with cars that have Apple CarPlay wireless already, not with cars that have Apple Car play wired ? Is that right?
The car must have WIRED Carplay.

I can't access Android Auto/Apple Carplay wirelessly on my headunit.
Wireless is the key here. For most people, if you don't need wireless, there's no reason to get a dongle like this.
