We call it a German mop. Usually we have a small push broom scrubber brush. Mostly we set the broom down and lay the towel over it and lift, basically making a towel flat mop. In out new const homes this method helps remove the grout residue off the flooring and reduces streaking and helps dry the flooring.
FYI: As an alternative, get a flat mop with a base that is flat on the whole surface, not one with ridges. Peel off any velcro if it has any. Clean the bottom face really well, dry and give it a wipe with alcohol(Gets the last of any residue off). Get some heavy duty velro. You only need the hook side, not the loop part. Stick the hook velcro to the bottom of the flat mop, covering the entire surface and press down really well (can even warm the surface a bit with a hair dryer). Let it sit for a day so the sticky glue on the velcro sets up. Put a few towels in you bucket with your cleaner and water. Pull out a towel, squeeze to ring it out or use an old style mop buckey and use the mop squeeze ringer to ring the towel out. Throw it on the floor, flat. Put the flat mop on the towel and mop away. You can move the mop head to a different part of the towel so you can put pressure on a cleaner spot as needed. Toss the dirty towel in the tub and grab a new one to continue. I use about 5 standard size bath towels. Good use for your old ones. If you don't have any or enough, go to a charity shop and buy some more for cheap. Or terry towel bath mats are a good size too. -Cheaper than buying flat mop pads -Terry towel cleans better (Sorry, micro fiber is a sales scam. I've tested it on various surfaces. It doesn't work any better and usually not as good) - The flat mop head has a swivel so you can mop side to side, keeping one side as the leading edge(proper technique for mopping) - Towels hold more cleaner and are heavier so they clean better without having to push down hard. - Use a couple other dry towels to dry the floor fast. - The wood dowel on the Cuban mops soaks up dirty water. Swells the wood and looks/smells nasty after a while. - Using white towels is great as you can see the dirt and when to change the towel and when the floor is actually clean. Plus you can beach them in the washing machine. And they make a full load rather than a mostly empty machine as with micro fiber, which has to be washed separate, not with anything other than micro fiber. You can toss in your other terry cloth cleaning rags with the mop towels too. - Bonus! Most regular size flat mops can fit 3, side by side, of the blue(less abrasive) Scotchbrite pads. These work great on your tile in the kitchen or entryway for stubborn dirt, sticky stuff or dried on dog drool! LOL!

Who's "we"
Foam pipe insulation already split down the middle is available at any home do-it-yourself center. Thanks for sharing this was very helpful!
Hair ties! Thanks! My sponge just came off the mop end and this solved my prob!
Cutting a small hole in the middle of the towel and slipping the towel over a regular broom works wonders as well.

I found one in our local Winndixie. You are right, they could be hard to find

Excellent
Fabulous!! Thank you. 🙏 🧽 🧼 🧹 ✨
You are so welcome!
Yeeeesss! 😍😍😍😍💯💯💯💯
This mop is originally from Brazil...
Doesn’t this just spread the germs and dirt around?
After you clean you wash the cloth ! Germs gone.
Sorry, but Cubans fo not wrap the towel like that
Just use a real mop
This makes no sense. Why not just use a mop?
I'm thinking this is one of the original types of mops. Some people like to keep things simple. She doesn't have to buy anything to keep using it.
This can do more than a regular mop & it'd be easy & cheaper to just throw rags in the washer. Sounds more hygienic than a sponge mop.
