      @@AnotherHipster I do indeed. I honestly get as much fun out of it as I did on the same day I picked it up three years ago. I know what you mean about it feeling more confident, I felt way more comfortable riding at speed compared with my triumph scrambler. I’ve always liked the R9T ever since Roland Sands made the concept bike but it wasn’t until the UGS that I felt I absolutely needed one

    As you know i've just sold my R Nine T and ordered a 2021 Street Twin. My BMW was a great looking bike and sounded nice, with lots of power, but...i never felt 100% relaxed on it. After 100 miles i felt pain on my wrists and bottom. One thing you should know: this is no bike for long distances. Take a look at the secondhand market and almost all of the R Nine T's have low mileage and now i know why. I went to make a long testride on the ST and it felt like i could ride it whole day long and still feel relaxed. If you are sold on BMW and want to make long distances, then the GS is the bike for you. At the end its up to you to buy what you want, but please take my advice in account. Greetings Jerry

    • @AnotherHipster
      @AnotherHipster  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Cheers Jerry nice to see you here. I remembered you swapping and I have other friends who also have gone from the ST - R 9 T - then back to some sort of Triumph again over the course of a few years so that was a consideration of what I might be like in a few years, but in a few years i'd hope to have space for two bikes and likely a Triumph would come back in for more relaxed sunny days. I couldn't be without one as they are just something special to look at
      The triumph is lovely but mine is wobbling under acceleration/deceleration which affects my confidence in holding a line. I'm tempted to put a steering damper on it but cautious to not pour more money into it if I know i'm swapping in a few months
      I wondered why they all had low milage, if I was older i'd totally go for the GS but i'm only 23 and am worried about getting too 'old' to quickly. Plus there are too many gadgets to distract me,
      Take my word the ST is super comfy for long days, I've done 550 miles in 1 day on it and apart from my wrists I felt nothing
      Thanks for your detail, only a consideration at the moment i'll either swap soon & have the summer or swap in the winter ready for the next season. see you again soon

    • @jjnewman65
      @jjnewman65 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Jerry, I would seriously consider the 1200cc “Speed Twin” rather than the smaller 900cc “Street Twin” They are easily confused in name. You may find the Street a little underpowered after the RNINET unless that is what you wanted?
      I agree re touring with the RNINET, of course It’s possible. Hipster will have to take into account the cost of fitting and buying a touring kit. Whether that’s BMW or one of the other aftermarkets it’s not going to be cheap. We are talking at least £300 plus.

    • @jerrycasier547
      @jerrycasier547 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Jamie, thanks for your advice. Im not after the high power though. I agree that the first generation ST was a bit underpowered, but now it's ok. I'll probably just remove the cat unit and swap the mufflers for the sound. I was sold from the moment i've made a testride with the ST last year. Just a few weeks of patience and mine will arrive😉😁

    Overrated. Don't do it. I'm speaking as a BMW owner, too. You're glee about the slight side to side jolt of a nigh on agricultural 1930's design boxer engine that sticks out massively each side is amusing because, frankly, it's not a good thing. Moto Guzzi do it, too, although they have flair that teutonic engineering does not.. Japanese multis, Ducatis, don't do it, they stay still at idle....like a bike should lol. The peg should not stick into your foot when your at a stop, either. It's not a quirk, or 'character'......it's one of the not so good design features, along with the bumb numbing measly thin seat. It has, of course, plenty good design features...shaft drive, good build quality (though, hand on heart, I think my Ducati has the edge on build quality and finish over my BMW) and sound ergonomics.
    Try some other bikes, Moto Guzzi, Ducati, Aprilia. Don't fall for an image and a brand, there's other bikes as good if not better.

    Triumph has got nothing on the R9T man. Ok there’s some special Triumphs
    , like the 1200 scrambler maybe the Speed twin, 2021 model. But still the R9Tis in a Ligue of it’s own. And you should ride the original roadster man, the classic, the best of them all, not these watered down lesser variations.

    Go for it, I would change in an instant. As you know I had the Street Twin and I did love it for the time I had it, but I think you will find that the BMW will have far more road presents, and power. Power is the one thing I think the Triumph lacked, I had many a time where I would be in the middle of an overtake manurer and the bike would just run out of puff, the BMW also has proper suspension and brakes, do it :)

    • @AnotherHipster
      @AnotherHipster  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Cheers Richard great to see you here, yes I feel way more confident on this bike and as you say the road presence is great. Very powerful but not like KTM style which made me want to overtake anything infront of me 😁
      That’s always awkward to run out of Puff & yes I think it’s that suspension & brakes that help with the road feeling. Just waiting now to see if I get my contracts for summer or if I’ve got time for the swap + trips

Personally, I prefer the looks of this one over the Urban G/S (and I think this is the exact model that Tom Cruise used in the movie). The sound of the Akrapovic exhaust is also really great; although, here in the Philippines, I think it was regulated (at least for after-market installations), particularly because of the sound it makes. @@AnotherHipster I fell in love with the RNINET last year and bought a scrambler. It’s significantly quicker than my T100 and I constantly have to reign myself in. There is the temptation and ease to blip past everything such is the acceleration.

    • @AnotherHipster
      @AnotherHipster  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Jamie yes I felt that power difference, my Street Twin has more HP than your T100. I love the classic blue & cream colour option though there’s no question I’d have that if I went for the T100
      The 110hp on the R Nine T was certainly noticeable, how did you find the engine braking? It was perfectly in tune with what I’d look for

    I've had my eye on one of these (not the scrambler with the nobbly tyres) for a while... haven't tested yet but sat on one. The bike's footprint is massive.

    • @AnotherHipster
      @AnotherHipster  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Brian get yourself on one they are surprisingly easy to handle, I didn't like the tyres either so no worries there, I brought the Urban G/S today which is no massive secret so we should soon start seeing that in videos when its delivered in a few weeks. 2017 model got it for a good price in Wales

    Nice review!
    Have the same Goldtop in black and also the Revit gloves. I see the velcro removes the stitches the same way as mine😅

      Hi Paul great to see you here, yes most of my wrist lining of the jacket has gone thanks to my gloves :D Weight shedding I guess? But the look is well worth it. Jacket must look great in black with the red lining

      Its a bit sad, that the nice lining gets destroyed, but have to live with that issue , i guess =D i will look for another pair of nice gloves, but without the velcro strap to save some of the lining. The bobber jacket in black has the lining in gold same as yours, only the collar has the red suede to it. =)

    I love my '21 Pure, but I have more vibration in the handlebars than I like. Watching the mirrors in this vid, I didn't see the same blur that I get. Need to look into this.

      Hi John sorry for the delay, yes i've never noticed any vibrations & I have the Urban GS now. This was a smooth ride too, have a look into those & see what you can come up with. Pier city custom have some amazing mirror choices

    not ridden my boxer GS1150 in about 12 years - reason is they are painful if you are the highway a lot, the position of the pegs to seat which comes with a doubly whammy you can't stretch your legs out with engine configuration in the way of your feet. So it just gathers dust in the garage some nice memories - nice video

    I was out on my friends r9t scrambler a couple of weeks ago. I think I have now decided I don’t like twins. The lack of gear indicator, revs and on the motorway just wasn’t for me, but love the style; and was surprised how small and light it felt to my RR.

    • @AnotherHipster
      @AnotherHipster  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Dom, yes I am considering how much i'd miss no gear/fuel indicator. My first bike for three years had none of those so it wouldn't be a huge shock to go back to that again. Revs I'm never interested in I tend to hear how it is getting on & work off that,
      A few more things to consider but the search is on, I'm surprised at how I handled the weight too tbh. Would be great to catch you soon in person for a ride, do you have insta?

      @@AnotherHipster yeah I’m d0mcat on insta. I have two people in my group with r9t, the exact urban GS you want and the scrambler like you had in this vid. But both have had some very nice mods done making them look 😍👌🏻

      I have a '21 Pure. Agree that missing fuel, tach, and gear indicators are a bummer. I'll likely add a tach. I reset odom each fillup, and refill at 100mi. Don't know the real limits but don't want to wait for low fuel indicator. For me the joys outweigh the nitpicks.

    • @AnotherHipster
      @AnotherHipster  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks John I have the Urban GS now. I get 150 miles before the fuel light comes on, once I got 200 miles then the fuel light comes on & that was a lot of top gear motorway riding
      Hope that helps
