    Good on you for fixing this. I don't get people's hate for this car. I don't own one, but they're practical (size, packaging, efficiency) and reasonably priced, and this version is actually interesting.

    Love watching Jake work on junk, only bad thing about the PT kruzer build is that TH-cam thinks I want junk Chrysler content and suggests so many PT Kruzer videos, Jakes the only Kruzer video I’m interested in, and only because I love his passion for whatever crap he’s working on.
    Watching him shift gears on that pile of crap you’d think it had the transmission of a semi truck, while at the same time Honda was making the smoothest shifting 5 speeds in the world, and Mazda was making a short throw shifter. Chrysler, 50 years behind the rest of the worlds car builders. Keep up the great work Jake, one day your ship will come and you’ll get the recognition you’ve earned!

    Glad to see you finally have Quick Jacks. You really will make good use of them. For me, they are the among the best tools I've ever purchased.
    I know your shop may not be a permanent structure but you really should consider a mini-split system (you could always move it to a new building)

    I bought a set of QuickJacks two years ago and absolutely love them. They were worth every penny. I got the 7000lb set. They lift my 01 Yukon XL with zero issues and also still fit between the front and rear tires of my wife's 16 Malibu.

      @@Tempsho They're the regular length set. Model number BL-7000SLX. I also have the SUV adapter kit that's sold separately. It's needed if you're going to pick up something with some ground clearance like a pickup truck.

    My 21-year-old son loves this car. When he was a toddler, he had a toy car just like that that was remote control and he used to call it his comeback car but even now as an adult. He has fond memories of the car.. we don't know much about repairing cars but we enjoy watching car videos such as yours.

    Good car, you got a good deal. I love the look of these cars, really great to mod them on the exterior, I love the look of the front end. I’ve had mine for 12 years, just rebuilt the engine, I have the base model but I got 16” wheels. Awesome winter car. Truthfully they aren’t the most reliable but if you take care of it, I’ve driven for years with no issues. The motor mounts wear out over time, both upper and lower I’ve replaced, could be reason for vibration. That center mount with the cap is for accessing the timing belt, that mount is still original on my car, no issues with that. That rear crank seal, you can’t push it in too far else it will leak, has to be nearly flush with the engine block. Enjoy the car, fun to drive.

    I actually like the flex plate design and the moduler clutch. It just bolts in bolts out. I used a racheting wrench to get to those bolts.

    All those missing bolts were a weight saving measure as this was clearly a high performance race car.

    Also Chrysler likes to use bolts that are way longer than what are needed so if you are doing a timing belt and you just have the engine jacked up you will need to cut one of the engine mount bolts on the passenger side just to remove it cuz it's about 5 in Long and the fender doesn't allow for that. And then simply don't replace it or drill a one in tall right through the side of your inner fender dealers choice

    Your PT has the 2003 intake manifold the 2004 is plastic and is a direct bolt on (better flow and lighter). Also in a previous video you dropped the tank to get to the fuel pump but under the left rear seat(I think) there is a panel that gives you access to the pump and hoses. Yes I had one and yes I modified it somewhat, but only bolt on parts. You've got some great content, keep up the good work

    Great video Jake, that car looked pretty easy to work on. I had to do an engine and trans swap on a 08 mercury milan with the 3.0, and that was a pain to do on the garage floor. I had to take the entire front end off, including the cowl, and everything was so crammed together with way to many brittle plastic pieces to the cooling system. I will never do that car again. You have been passing the wallet around lately on the fleet, hope you get enough views to help recover. Thanks for the time. God bles.

      That Milan would be the same platform and engine as the 2003 Mazda6 I owned. I had to do the same thing in order to replace the radiator on mine, which was a pretty easy job. Did the motor mounts while I was in there. What was less fun was the heater hose that went bad, which necessitated a lot of leaning allll the way over that V6 engine. One of my favorite engines ever put in a car, and quite amusing coupled with a manual trans, but I can't help but think the car would have gotten a 10/10 repairability score with the 4cyl optioned. I replaced a door on that thing in 10 minutes. Absolutely wonderful design. Full front end suspension replacement took maybe an hour, control arms and all.

    the torque mounts really arent that bad.. hard part for me was the service manual called for spacing in mm and i didnt have anything that could measure mm, but converting and using a tape measure worked too.

    How come you seem to get way more dirty than J. R. ? He looks practically spotless after working on similar tasks, while you resemble a coal miner at the end of his shift when you quit for the day. Love ya Jake, but maybe J.R. just has a few more resources available at his beck and call. Still, you manage to get her done , albeit with a few setbacks along the way. Hang in there and give it your 100%!

    It's always easier to take it apart than put it back together. Otherwise you wouldn't be missing those bolts (among other things).

    If you think that is fun, Jake, check out Matt's Garage. He has a PT Cruiser turbo convertible that is his SNOWPLOW! He lives in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, and uses his PT to plow since he took apart his Neon to use the body on top of a Subaru Forrester platform. He also just finished installing a Ford 302 and C4 transmission into a Mercedes! He may be a bit madly eccentric, but his projects are unique. Yes, we will go with unique

      Reminds me of when I added a Saturn SL2 to my Progressive insurance policy, and it asked me if I had a snowplow mounted on the vehicle. I mean, I guess the PT is technically a light truck, but it's not honestly that much more truck-like...

    I cringed when you dropped that transmission on your chest. When I received my Sachs clutch assembly and felt how heavy it was I decided to purchase a Harbour Freight motorcycle jack for $99. I figured it was cheaper than a hospital emergency room bill.
    Great video and a fun car to drive. Keep it and enjoy it.

    Your vibration is due to the mounts. Had a pt and they go bad. Had to replace mine at leat 3 times.

      Yep - Replaced a starter on my 1st wife's Dodge Intreped on my back in a 40 degree rain storm on a sunday night (because she had to goto work the next morning); came in - stripped down out of my rain-soaked layers - then she accused me of having an affair because my back was torn up from the uneven driveway cement and she thought the lines were caused by some other woman's nails! Good times indeed.

    Hard to tell from the angle but if the bolt is near center for the mid motor mount it's good. Prob the upper and lower mounts making the noise

    You might really enjoy a "Thread Checker" (accept no substitutes 😉) - you can pull one of the remaining bolts, find the thread, write it down, and not have to bring your own bolts to the hardware store.... Works great at least on my riding lawn mower that's missing a bunch of bolts. I'm very happy with my purchase.

    I hate working on a car after someone half assed a repair. I recently got a car that someone replaced the heater core and they left more bolts out than they put in.

    I would do a timing belt so this while you're at it because you can't do it if the engine is in its current location you don't need to remove the engine but you do need to remove mounts and angle the engine quite a ways at least with an automatic transmission to get it done it's not for the faint of heart

    Did you change the seal for axles 🤔 and shaking can be from the tires or rims or axles when pushing the engine it must be the axles 🤔

    Hilariously large hub socket story - 36mm 3/4" drive socket too big, so without thinking I bought a 35mm socket - which was too small. Turns out the 36mm socket was worn, and a new one worked just fine. Anyone need a 'like new' 35mm socket.....

    That lower engine mount needs to be replaced several times in the car's life also when you go to replace the lower control arms several times in the car's life you may break off the main bolts that are near the passenger cabin no biggie you just have to peel the carpet back use a hole saw to cut holes through the floor where the little circular divots are then you can get to the well that not get rid of all that and replace the bolts and nuts yeah Chrysler

    So whoever did a third of a job on putting the car together when they changed the clutch caused so much damage they shouldn't have bothered doing the job at all.
    I once had a car that vibrated only as it moved I had a small egg in the tyre I never found it until I saw it while checking the prop shaft and that was clanking ad it wasn't fully bolted to the rear axle.

      Way easier than my Scion tC, I’ll say that. If I had a better idea what the process was when I started on the PT it would have gone much smoother. I lost a day struggling on it because I didn’t fully seat the clutch, and taking it apart took twice as long as it should have due to stew missing from the service manual and trying to figure out all the missing bolts and crap

I'm really enviuse..that you have a top garage and good tools in the dry to work in....I good do with them lifting jack's hahaha ..over here where I live it's had getting parts ..I'm in the channel Islands UK st Helier...I can't believe it's all kicking off ..in Europe with Russia ...fuel gone right up and oil here expensive....
