Chrysler PT Cruiser Modular Clutch Replacement - 2001 thru 2006 5 Speed Manual (Non-Turbo)

Hello TH-cam,
Today, we are changing the modular clutch assembly on our 2003 Chrysler PT Cruiser. We take you through step by step on how to remove the transmission and replace the clutch assembly, along with the axles seals. This can be done in a few hours in your driveway with basic tools.

I replaced my clutch in my 2001 PT Cruiser this weekend. I got it back together and tried to start it, it made a grinding noise, I turned it off and now it won't start at all. Any ideas?

Sorry to hear that David, it sounds like the starter may not be fully seated into the transmission housing. If you are confident the clutch pack and throw-out bearing were installed correctly, then the misaligned starter is all that we can think of.
Get the front wheels off the ground and check the transmission movement. Does everything rotate freely with the transmission in neutral? How about if you put it in gear, does everything still rotate without any funny sounds?

Ive just started watching you and really enjoy your videos, I just wanted to give you some feedback about this one, its too specific of a video for me to enjoy, i feel you are limiting your audience to diy clutch changers on this specific vehicle.

Thanks for the feedback Dale, we prefer working on projects and that's what we want to focus on. Sometimes however, we have to tackle these one off repairs and since we are performing the repair, we go ahead and create the video just in case someone out there needs the help.
