Thank you for putting the bowls and cook wear links, I bought them and the solcooker, I live in an RV and right now I am in AZ and it gets very hot here, even in Safford.
Very neat! I made one today with my dog's cone of shame covered with tin foil, and used my camping pot inside. It didn't get hot enough. I'll try it again tomorrow but this time will put plastic over the top (and stop opening it every 10 minutes to check the temperature, ha ha).
thanks for explaining the pin thingy on top of the cooker. I've seen the cooker in a number of videos and kept wondering how people align the cooker with the sun properly this cleared it up for me. Thanks :)
Thanks, the manual that came with the cooker reads, 'The Sunflower Cooker' by All Season Solar Cookers. The 60 30 solar oven looks cool. I look forward to to checking out more of your videos, take care.
I use mine to melt wax for covering up mycelium spawn into logs to grow mushrooms. Works great!! Make better than plugging in a crock pot off grid. Much faster heating!!
I just bought one of these and it gets delivered Friday...Nice to have Clint Eastwood showing me how to make some brown rice on TH-cam ! (:}) LIKED/SUBSCRIBED !
Dan, I need your help. In December the All Season Solar Cooker disappeared on the Amazon site due to a listing error. 3 weeks later I am back up on Amazon but sales have plummeted. I appreciate your support in the past and ask that you can do anything to help get the word out about the ASSC. Thanks
Very well done video. Thanks for the steady camera. Makes so easy to watch. Good description and you covered all of the features very well. The All Season Solar Cooker and the Sunflower Cooker are one and the same.
Is this solar oven durable? I'd like to buy solar oven for my brother who lives 5000 feet above sea level in a remote village of the earth. They use wood for cooking in the village. Solar oven would greatly save trees from getting cut down for cooking. I am looking to get something durable so no need to replace it in few years.
I'm a little confused. I've built a few All Season Solar Cookers, but you call this a Sunflower SC. Is there a difference? Now, I've done a fair amount of solar cooking, mostly with my 60/30 solar oven, but I've done a few things in my ASSC. Also, great video.
Anyone bought this, how much did you pay? Feb 2018, amazon sell it for $99 but they change the price of stuff wildly from one month to the next, so please share your price.
Sadly, the DIY plans no longer seem to be available at the link given - and the item does cannot be shipped to the UK. Can anyone let me know where I might find the plans? I really like the way this is made - very practical and lightweight. Easy to store when you are mobile. I'd love to have one!
Will it be much use in the UK? You can ship it to one of those shopping services that give you an american address who then forward it to you in the UK. Just check the cost as it can add up.
Richard, check You tube. There are a lot of DIY solar cookers on there. Seems like I saw the inventor Jim La Joie showing how to make one awhile back...
Good video. I have only used mine twice/still practicing! Burnt my cornbread the first time, cooked some hot dogs ok.... and today I am branching out to chicken! My issue always seems to be getting my cooker shaped correctly. Never round like a sunflower, more squared off. Ive bent the sides but they go back to their original shape. Any pointers? thank you
Hi Linda. How about attaching one of those office binder clips to each side? You could tie a piece of string to one of them. Then position the sides the way you want to and then run the string around the back of the cooker and tie it to the other clip? Maybe that will hold the sides in place.
I picked a couple up from The Goodwill thrift store. They can get pricy so check those out if need be. Just look for lightweight dark enameled cookware with lids. Roaster pans work well.
45 min for cooking some rice! Incredible. Solar cooker concept theoritically sounds good. But, practically it is for those, who have enough time for waste. My induction cooktop takes only 10-15 min to instantly cook some rice. I always prefer to use pressure cooker which is time saving and energy saving.
No salt, no tomatoes, no peas and carrots... I would not eat that rice if you paid me to do so. It must taste like cardboard. No wonder you fed it to the chickens.
Who tf puts peas and carrots in their rice? Some of us like regular rice. You can add stuff to it on your plate if you like, but I’m not wrecking the whole pot of rice for one person.
Oh, the stick trick! What a clever sun scope! TFS

I use mine almost every sunny day. Fantastic. Even though postage is horrendous to Spain, still well worth it.
Could you do an update video if you still solar cook....which cooker you prefer or maybe some favorite recipes. Please and thank you

I just cooked some wicked Rosemary Braised Lamb Shanks in my all season solar cooker. Man they were delicious.

Amazing... Did you try it in winter? how did it go? I'm concerned about not reaching boiling temp in winter...
Thanks!
I haven’t had much luck with solar booking in winter, we live in southern idaho and the angle isn’t right to get more than 150-200 degrees at best.

You can't get more energy saving than solar. This is for when you DON'T have a stove/oven DUH.
i wonder if you could put a pressure cooker in it?.save time
2 hours and 30 minutes Thats not too bad for cook cooktime.
Thanks.
