    I have 2 male mollies , one is a big bully around feeding times, I isolated him for 48h didn't work, the only thing that worked is I became his bully, i kept poking him with a bbq stick with cotton on its tip everytime he aproched his victim around feeding times, I also chased him just like he did, I did this for 3 days and now they are best friends. add more decoration to help the fish not see each other too much.

    In my planted 29g, I've got a male sail fin Molly, he's beautiful i love him. All my tank mates have gotten along, he came with a prego female platy, 2 tiny babies (both female), pleco. After a week or 2 I added a community betta and 3 skirt tetras. Still, everything was fine. They all got along great. After some time we added 3 male guppies my hubby wanted. Everything was fine. After a few weeks now, my male Molly started bullying the guppies and 1 of the babies. They were hiding it for so bad. I removed him, added him to a 10g by himself.
    Obviously he's too large for that, and he was stressing out. I asked my fish groups for advice, they said to get 3 more females for him, add them.all back to main tank, and switch the guppies to the 10.
    I did. And now he's bullying 1 of the females and again one of the babies 🤦🏻‍♀️
    I'm at a loss, guess he's gotta go back to the fish shop :(

    I've owned two Fuscos. The first went back to the store after 24 hours after nearly killing my stunning male Red Empress. Tried again a few years later, second individual was a bit better but still wanted to own half the tank.
    Best avoided imo. They're not that attractive when fully coloured anyway - venustus / livingstonii are nicer.
    My tip with any African cichlids is to check when a new batch of fish comes into the store. If it's an aggressive species, let a few males colour up and go before you pick what should be a less dominant individual. If it's a more timid species, it's worth getting one of the first in the batch to show colour. That way they'll likely mix better in a community African set up.

    First of all, I love your channel and thanks for sharing your videos to all fish keeping lovers ☺. I have a bully that is a female peacock cichlid (very dark gray color). She seems to bully even my male cichlids that is of the same size. My tank is a 75G. Can I put her in a different tank? I'm having similar issues with an established male Parrot Cichlid and an younger female I just introduced. I've already removed the bully to a makeshift tank with filter & airation, and he's been there for about a week now... Should I keep him in "purgatory" for another week, then let him spend a week in the basket I just got for the main-tank? Or should I just reintroduce him? He already resides in the corner of the isolation tank, just below the filter... And will only come out when food is introduced. (small, easily digestible pellets and wafers)

    • @inventoryking
      @inventoryking  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would probably leave him in the makeshift tank for another week or 2. Then add in into the basket in the main tank for a week. And release. Might work.

    • @pancudowny
      @pancudowny 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      inventoryking Alright... I just hope his attitude will be readjusted, and Zipper--the female juvenile--will be ready for him. She's already showing signs of being the tank dominant, but that could just be only around feeding time.
      BTW: Come to my channel, and see what I have as a makeshift tank... and how big each Parrot Cichlid is, respectively. I'd appreciate more of your feedback, as you're the only presenter so-far that keeps Cichlids and does more than show them off.

    • @pancudowny
      @pancudowny 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Update:
      After trials of relocating each, I finally attempted a bit of social-engineering by placing Zipper--whom I've since learned is male--in a breeding basket with walls made of nylon-mesh. This allowed him to be safe, as Sherbet attempted again-&-again to attack him, while Zipper attempted to escape from the basket by beating against the walls.
      After two days, Sherbet relented... and so did Zipper after three. I've since released him into the tank, where they immediately began pairing & spawning. Although unsuccessful, they still make attempts nonetheless. And Sherbet still bullies Zipper occasionally... but they get along, otherwise.
      BTW: You should see how big they've gotten since... Especially Sherbet!

    I have a 250 gal back yard pond where I have kept and raised mbunas for the last 3 yrs here in extreme NW Florida. I ended up with an over stocked pond and had to sell some but ended up selling too many. Now two of the largest ones are chasing all the other large, med., and small ones constantly. I can not catch them as we have many rocks that would have to be moved again after we had to remove them to catch and sell the ones we did which seriously stressed them out. So catching and removing the bullies is next to impossible here.
    So I wanted to know if you think if I just rearrange the rocks piles so mr bullies have to reestablish their domain. One of the bullies thinks he owns the right side of the pond and the other the left. I have thought about trying to make tunnels so that only medium and smalls can fit into them and make sure the ones large enough for the bullies only has one way in and out.(but man that's going to be hard to do!) Right now the bullies can go into most of the rocks continuously chasing the others. Although there are of course small spots for the fry and smalls to hide. Those bullies have the others so scared they are afraid to come out and eat the amount of food they need!
    I forgot to mention I have a separate waterfall section of the pond that I could move the bullies to (or at least one of them) if I could catch them, but like I said, I don't see that happening.
    Another thought is to add more adults? Right now I have a total of 4 adults, 8 mediums, 5 smalls, 8 babies, and around 6 brand new fry sized.
    Thx 4 reading -- PLEASE HELP! - You help, I subscribe! XD

    • @inventoryking
      @inventoryking  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi there. What I would do is try to catch them at night when they sleep. I have found that this works well for me in tanks of course, but I can see this possible working. After it’s been dark for a while, get a big net and bright flashlight. Search the pond to see if the bullies are sleeping outside of the rock pile. Much easier to catch when they sleep. If you have a fishing net something small enough to where they can’t swim through when the bullies are out of the rock pile, drape the net over the rocks so they can’t hide in the rocks. And then do the try and catch at night. It’s worth a shot.

    • @scottyboy2400

      @@inventoryking Thanks for the reply! I actually think your previous tip on the video about rearranging the rocks may have worked! Please help!! I bought 2 glofish tetras about a week ago for my 5 gallon glofish tank. (Yes I'm aware I need to invest in a BIGGER tank). The bigger tetra has bullied the smaller one so badly that it sits in a corner for most of the time. Even when eating time it chases it away. I re-arranged the plants, even took a few out so it wouldn't be overcrowded and nothing worked. I went to my local pet store where I was suggested to get 3 zebra fish to break up the fights, it didn't work. He still chases the other tetra around but doesn't chase after the zebra fish. • @inventoryking
      @inventoryking  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You might want to rehome the bully. Or try getting a few more glofish tetras. It could be because there are 2 of the same fish and one is going to establish dominance.

The tetras swim along side each other perfectly during the day but as soon as feeding time comes it's game over. They also just nibble at the side of the tanks. I thought maybe my tank was a little small, it is only a 5 gallon. So the end of this week I'm buying a 50 gallon. I will probably end up taking the green tetra back and trading it for one the same or similar size as the pink one, before they kill each other.

    Hey I adopted a couple of fishes a few weeks ago and suddenly one of the fishes is behaving weird
    It is bullying all of the other fishes
    It chases all the other fishes away again and again and keeps following them
    I tried separate it and keeping it in other basket
    All the other fishes seemed to no longer be under stress when I did so
    So after two days I put it back with the other fishes
    Within a couple of minutes it started the same behaviour and all the fishes again were clearly visible to be under stress
    Due to which I separated it again.
    What would you suggest in this situation now?
    I would not want to place it alone somewhere else in my apartment
    Would I have to return it back?
