    The most aggessive fish I ever had (and I have cichlids etc.) was a male Endler. Ended up putting him in a 75 gallon with barbs, came back he had all the barbs chased to one end. Took him back to LFS. True story lol

    Very necessary video and skill for people.
    I had one aggressive pair of males. I added a third, he got picked on. I moved him to a breeder box so the fish could get used to being near one another and recover. After a week they were happy friends.
    That pattern was fine until a few months later when one of the males got attacked again and needed to recover.

    I moved out my bully gourami, and he was so angry he couldn't attack another fish in his new tank, he did a few barrel rolls and died after less than a few days. Beautiful jerk. They should be classified like bettas on temperament.

    I am currently dealing with a bully Red Shoulder Sevrum. The tank has a mixture of other types of sevrums, a large angelfish, blue acaras, clown loaches, and a chocolate pleco. I tried putting him in time-out using a large breeder box within the tank. This has worked well for me in the past with bully goldfish. I only tried it for a week, because I noticed that while he was in time-out, one of the electric blue acaras became aggressive towards the other fish. So, I let the red shoulder out of jail, and watched him and the acara spar for couple of weeks for dominance. The sevrum has reestablished himself as king. I have added some wood and plants to provide more sight-line breaks, but plants don't last long with sevrums. They don't like the taste of some java fern, but I can't find affordable large plants at this time. I haven't seen any physical damage to the other fish in the tank so far, however, my large agel has stopped eating. I'll try to move him to another tank to see if it is fear or old age that is causing him to lose his appetite. Thanks for your videos. Always informative.

    Most and probably only aggressive fish I've had is an empire gudgeon. Male that lost a good amount of fins when shipped. Fine with baby corys, platys, but marked out 13 of my 14 rummynose tetras. Just happened couple weeks ago. He is now in a tank that was for pea puffers, he occasionally eats a pond snail.

    Just moved a SAE into my guppy tank 😂
    I've always had 1 SAE in each tank for BBA control
    But Yesterday I noticed 2 of my now fully grown SAE were displaying hyperactive behaviour
    Swimming circles of the tank at high speed causing the other fish to stress and hide
    So I took 1 out of the smaller tank and put her into the 4ft tank with the other one that was causing problems
    So far it seems to have worked they spent a few hours chasing eachother around but this morning they seem to be happy cruising around together at much slower speeds
    And everyone else in the tanks seems less stressed
    I'm hoping it continues that way🤞

    When I kept the bigger Cichlids Mbuna jacks ect I had a bully and I'd just remove him for 2/3 weeks and rearrange the tank so the other fish could re-establish themselves then add him back and %80/90 of the time it worked for a few months. Overall I ended up finding him a new bigger home.

  • @uranlynch3127
    @uranlynch3127 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I had to rehome my mbuna to my brother, he just wouldn't stop attacking my blood parrot, i tried locking him away, and rearranging the tank, nothing would work, so to save the rest of my fish from stress or death i had to get rid of him, now everyone is happy.

    I have three Platies, an original Mickey and two new sunsets. Mickey and one sunset is male, and the other sunset is female. The Mickey is extremely aggressive to the other male and almost any other fish in the tank (tetras and danios) and keeps pestering and trying to court the female sunset platy while chasing her occasionally. Should I get more male platies or more female platies for this kind of aggression?

    I had two Australian rainbow females that bullied..they killed my large male..so I placed them in a tank with a few retired fish and another bully..it was a quiet war for a while then the skirted tetra killed a sister..the magic fish to keep the peace turned out to be different Danio fish..she never bother my white clouds..so now she is in a tank with 13 different danio..all different sizes..she still chases them but they chase each other so they don't get stressed out..and they hid out in the low level plants..I've never had large Danio before amazing fish and they grow to four inches..I'm going to add a few more Zebra danio next..

    Trying to find the bully in my rainbow tank. Have found 2 of my newly purchased turquoise rainbows dead in the last week with their tails chewed off. Can't tell if it's one of the other blues or one of my bosemani rainbows. It's like having a serial killer in the tank.

    Hey, i really need some help, so my longfin danios are kinda bullying my white clouds. I dont think there will be any injuries or nipped fins but the danios chase each other and the white clouds all day. I think this might stress out the white clouds and it is not a great sight to see. Just 24/7 nonstop chasing.

    • @BentleyPascoe
      @BentleyPascoe  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Danios are very, very active fish. So I can see why this would happen. If it's possible you might want to separate the white clouds out to a different tank where they can be a little bit more chill

      @@BentleyPascoe hi, thank you so much for the reply, i moved my danios to a different tank but plot twist…my biggest white cloud who has never displayed any aggression suddenly started chasing all the other whiteclouds. Do you think it was because he got influenced by the danios?

      @BentleyPascoe  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Sounds like an overly dominant male. If you have the ability to separate that one fish, I would try to do so. Otherwise it depends on how many ways you have to break line a site for them to hide away from that, particularly aggressive fish

      If you can, try to distract the cardinal to one side of the tank with food, then put food on the other side for the betta.

    What about if you have Goldfish and they are not so small. I have 4 fish in a 200L tank. The bully is picking on his other goldfish mate and I noticed the one he's picking on has lost scales. He chases him closely behind him. The bully is a shebunkin. Help :(

    • @BentleyPascoe
      @BentleyPascoe  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      If you can, try to create line of sight blockers so it's easier for the fish to hide. You could also look at separating them for a short period of time and seeing if that fixes some of the problem

      It’s wild cause I keep goldfish, but I keep a big lot of them so I had no idea that they could be aggressive at all. Until recently, I have seen some videos and testimonies about bully goldfish.

      I bought 4 mollies without knowing the gender. I was told Mollies are great community fish, so i housed them with my 4 goldies which I have kept 3yrs and quite large. The second I released them Mollies, I noticed the black one kept chasing my goldies and nipping its fins, although he's very small compare to my goldies. The other 3 Mollies were just fine
      SO i took out the bully and put it in small isolation tank, hoping he changed (when the aggression occurs I deeply research abt Molly)
      After several days trying to introduce him to the community tank again, he started chasing off every other firsh and harrass them. So i put him back to the isolation tank and gave up.
      Long story short, the other one Molly (male) started getting aggressive too. I got so pissed and house him too in the isolation tank
      And these buttheads bully each other, but I'm guessing they got tired and stopped. I felt so good that they get to taste their own medicine 😂
