She had finished the Sound of Music filming two months before this show which was from November 1964. Can't you tell from the hairstyle? This show features a skit about her second film, The Americanization of Emily, which had been released a few weeks before.
I used to watch the Andy Williams Christmas show every year when I was a little kid with my Mom. He has one of the Purest Male singing voices ever! She was a huge fan of Julie Andrews also! I'm so glad younger generations are able to view such classic shows and song now with You tube. The music and talent was real back in the 60's and 70's.
She was shooting The Sound Of Music by the time she appeared on the show... hence the hair cut!! And if there's anyone who is more beautiful than Julie, I don't know who it is... she's just too good for our own good!
I was lucky enough to live when there were great musical variety TV shows on every week. Perry Como, Andy Williams and Dean Martin had weekly shows over the years.
Ahhh... I really wish I grew up in the 60's.... Andy Williams is so charming, I love his show! And with Julie.... (melts) makes it so much more fun to watch. They're both so stunning.... Thank you so much for uploading this! C: On to Part 2!
@@hannahplumleymycarnivaladd6365 Plus (not very high here; as another said, Andy wasn't tall)) heels, of course. But she often _looks_ tall, and elegant; something to do with the way she carries herself (and maintains her slim figure) - and her dancing skill!
@waliice In her memoir "Home" there are some photos of her during My Fair Lady behind the scenes, where you can see that her hair is short. So she is wearing a wig as Eliza. Also in the pictures of the rehearses for Camelot her hair is short. You can also see it for example here: life.com/gallery/24751/image/3207226/julie-andrews-life-and-career#index/10 In the book she wrote, she cut her hair when she first moved to America (1954) as a sign of emancipation, which her mother wasn't amused about

I fear Julie (Andrews, not Anderson) sang very little in other than English; in my collection of her I have one French, one half-Yiddish, and over a hundred English (though I can't say for sure she never did sing in Spanish). Not the same, but if you want nice noises in multiple languages (they often do the same tune in several), look at Nana (about 20 languages!) and Mimi [Mireille] (about five). My top singers - in no order!, they're too different - are Judith, Julie, Nana, and Mireille, with some other honourable mentions such as Caterina, Vera, Shirley, ... so many!
4:00 "Julie Andrews _and_ the Beatles in the same generation" - I'd never thought of them like that! Actually Julie is older - Julie 1935-10-1, John 1940-10-9, Paul 1942-6-18, George 1943-2-25, Ringo 1940-7-7 - though not that much (4¾-7½ years), so arguably the same generation purely age-wise. Though in 1964-11 they'd be 29/24/22/21/24, so the difference would seem significant, I think.
This is the first I remember Julie was on this show. She stuck in my head. I wasn't interested in Mary Poppins & my family just did not go to movies anyway. I think the budget was way too tight. But when she'd do specials or shows like this boy I was watching on TV. The more different kinds of stuff she did the more fascinated I was. I wish the movie moguls had realized they'd have made more money not trying to recreate what had already succeeded. They should been more creative w a talent like this.
@@hannahplumleymycarnivaladd6365 Though I was surprised to hear AW describe it as a comedy; though light-hearted in places, I think it had sad parts too. Her first non-musical role.
I adore how she flings herself into it! And she looks like she's having a blast. I just love her!
This episode aired in 1964 ,the year of Mary Poppins and also the year she would begin filming The Sound of Music .Incredible time for Julie 👍

Jep, i was definitely born in the wrong era as my family & friends told me already :D I adore Julie so much!

julie is the most talented person there's nothing she's not good at.... she's a legend
Who does not love Julie?!?!

She finished The Sound of Music September 1, 1964. This show was in Novemeber 1964. Extremely busy years for Julie.
She actually cut it short for Mary Poppins so it was easier to wear Mary’s wigs and it just stuck she had long hair before that
Julie and Andy could ROCK!!!
Could she be any more adorable?
I wish I lived in these times.
those times*
Trust me, no you don't. The pressure that would've been put on you as a female presenting individual would have been enormous :(
Amanda Kulp me too
I lived then but I was only 7. I am just glad I can relived the entertainment of these days. It is so much more enjoyable then what we have now days
I also. By John varghese
Julie's singing is PITCH PERFECT - and she makes every lyric uniquely her OWN!!!
I was lucky enough to live when there were great musical variety TV shows on every week. Perry Como, Andy Williams and Dean Martin had weekly shows over the years.
Julie is not practically perfect she’s perfect!
Why does she have to be so perfect....?
Olivia Emma well she is practically perfect in every way so I guess what’s why
6:31 Andy (and everybody else) is like "Day-um girl!"
One would love to think that, but of course I'm pretty sure these shows were well rehearsed. But still fun though!

Oh this is FABULOUS
Julie is so adorable!!
Andy Williams is right, Juile is as great as the Beatles, and i love her better ; )
Chan Homei better & more more to be adored than the Beatles!
Thats right, Julie doesn't need the mike for that last note in order to cut through.
The Triple Threat - Julie can dance as well as she can act - BRILLIANTLY, and quite, quite UNIQUELY!!!
always so beautiful
can we take a moment to appreciate her American accent??
Thanks for posting :D
Julie is amazing!

Amanda Bailey High Five! 👋
Amanda Bailey hi five🖐
what a spinning voice she has at the High A flat!
My god I've never noticed how tall she is.
Andy Williams wasn't very tall if that's who you're comparing her too. He was - maybe - 5 ft. 7 in.
Julie is 5ft 8

Good stuff. Golden era of entertainment
Julie is so gorgeous, radiant and talented! What a great partner she is - Andy fell in love with her, clearly. And so did we!
wonderful
Julie is really a great dancer 💃
All-rounder; music-hall (what in US is, roughly, vaudeville) background.
Great memories
Julie could rock and roll back in those days!!!
Maravilloso!!!
How adorable is julie!

Hi from 2020
Amazing woooow she has amazing legs go Julie man soo jelouse lol xx
She has always had her hair cut. That was a wig in mary poppins.
Was it the ´Sound-of-Music-Haircut` already? Its funny to see how they use the mikro one moment and the other singing without it.LOL
This was before, s they were talking about Americanization
of Emily Julie did that film in between Mary poppins and sound of music

I did Amanda and the good new's is these times may be coming back!
Julie could have gone the jazz route after sound of music like playing a singer in a jazz club of a mafia boss.
But I'm so glad she didn't. (Victor Victoria - and probably earlier things too - show she could do jazz when she wanted.)
@JulieAndrewsLover12 haha- me too! :-D
Das wird es sein,

@JulieAndrews135 people dont know what entertainment is now....its all about sex sex and more sex these days.
