- The (almost) complete appearance of the Carpenters on The Andy Williams Show transmitted on February 13th 1971.
I say 'almost' complete because they also performed We've Only Just Begun on the show, but as far as I'm aware, I've never seen it anywhere online, ever!
A huge thanks to Mr. Cuyler Otsuka for most of the clips used in this video.

I miss the way America used to be
Me too. Such better times
@@jonatanfranco8991 SOME good times.
Me too
Same here , how did we come to here ? Tyrannical country now as is most western countries , no imagination or creativity like this only a society that constantly tries to police your speech mind and freedoms
No comparison. Even with Vietnam.
Karen the most beautiful voice in history
She was pretty also.
I agree absolutely
Thanks for sharing this incredible show
My favorite female vocalist
I agree
The Carpenters are legends indeed. So much talent in just two people. It's remarkable and we'll probably never see that kind of thing again in our lifetime. But Andy Williams was no slouch. That man could belt out a tune as well as any diva on earth. Truly spectacular. I miss those days so very much.
Thanks so much I loved "The Andy Williams show. Karen Carpenter was so beautiful and all so talented. Thanks.
Living through those years, I didn’t realize how great they were in many ways. I really appreciate them now.
Amazing how all this Carpenter stuff is popping up. Thanks.
Hard to get two more talented singers in the same place. Wonderful!
2 of the most loved and respected voices in the history of the record business.
Karen, the greatest female singer all time, going up against the veteran legend Andy Williams. I probably watched this then.
@MOONL⚡️GHT LOVE 💓 I’ll stick with Karen
Maybe the best female Alto singer of all time. There were greater Sopranos.
The amazing thing is that she could jam on the drums as good as she could sing.
Billy. Thanks for posting this video. I love the Carpenters. They were fantastic. Really miss Karen. She left us far too soon. Beautiful to look at and a gorgeous voice. She could sing the phone book and it would be beautiful. RIP Karen. Sweet dreams our angel. Love you and always will.
I've heard Karen sing a million times like every one of her fans have, and I'm blown away EVERY time!
The warmth and pitch perfection in her voice is unmatched ❤️🩹💝❤️🩹
The best of the best, no one else even comes close.
Totally agree!
Shows Like this constantly Bringing Happiness when people turned their shows on was Magical and Andy did this with his Christmas shows and Having his Speacial guests on Like the Talented Carpenters!
The fabulous 'The Carpenters' indeed!
And never forget to mention also- the legend, the fabulous 'Andy Williams'.
How I miss those good old time.
Thank you v much for posting. I'm appreciated.
Have a nice day🙂everyone.
Karen singing while keeping rhythm on the hat. Amazing!
I saw the Carpenters in the 1970s Kalamazoo, they were very good, sure missing hearing Karen live, she was quite the musician/ drummer .
To Richard I say. "One day you will sing again with your beloved sister Karen, but remember she has been singing with God's Angels. I miss her.
Fantastic post I love the Carpenters
I watch this nearly daily! Two timeless great voices!❤
Remarkably Unique Voice God gave Karen to share Worldwide. 1971 - Where were you then? Memories of my childhood.
Goodnight! They sound great together! The Carpenters and Andy Williams!
Superb show. Fantastic and unparalleled!
BEAUTIFUL 🌹🌹🌹🌹
Fabulous all together
This was over 3 ½ years before I was born in October 1974
Karen could be singing the phone book and it would still be beautiful.
This is quite awesome with the fusion of both the Carpenters and Andy Williams.
Two of the best ever
this show will NEVER seen it again,.. thanks for sharing this excellent Performer/s,, ALWAYS a treasure Even too many decade had past , ,
an angel's voice. certainly the most enchanting female voice among all singers to this day. Best vibrato for sure. Watch how much fun she has - doing what she likes, mostly playing the drums and singing, always smiling, amazing. On the other hand, the most striking male voice is Freddy Mercury.
Mercury is overrated
The only male voice I can think of that reaches deep into my soul with the penetrating personal intimacy Karen has and the perfect phrasing and perfect notes is Nat King Cole.
I've never heard of thought of Karen and Freddie at the same time. But it's a good comparison. But incomparable among their peers.
I watch this often. So funny! I remember when this first aired. So many funny things going on at the same time! They don't write like this anymore.Karen is hysterical! How did she keep a straight face? True professional! As much as I love Karen's voice I really loved her comedic timing.Really miss her! Thanks so much for posting this!
The sketch is hilarious! Ozzie, Harriet and Jonathan Winters plus Karen is in her element.
Love this! Such awesome talent and a great vintage post. These variety shows are such a part of my childhood memories...Quality television that you do not get today...
Two great and my favorite singers.
Andy Williams and Karen Carpenter two great vocalist and Richard style of music arrangements what can I say. I’ve read where they study his arrangements at Universities ,
This is what entertainment is supposed to evoke!
¡¡¡ MARAVILLOSOS !!!!! ♥ ♥
OH KAREN.....YOU WERE AN ANGEL ON EARTH...!!!!
Great performance.❤❤❤❤
Beautiful.
Three of my favorite singers.
I miss Andy and Karen so much. I used to watch them all the time.
Saudades daquele tempo
I always was so mesmerized watching her playn that large silver sparkle Ludwig drumset,,never saw one like that
I don’t even like most of their material, but I adore her voice. When the harmony parts start and she isn’t singing I feel lonely.
Those were the days, this is awesome!
Awesome talent. 🎶 Awesome times 👍
Legends 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
I was into the who , the rolling stones, led Zeppelin black Sabbath Beatles and one hundred legendary bands . the carpenter's were elevator music but everyone new the words. She still sounds angelical,. When she died was the first time I had ever heard of Anorichea her Brother To bring awareness of that terrible disorder that took her life told the world inorder that no other innocent children of God would suffering of it would perish from it!
The Best Show of Shows
So cute🎀🎀🎀
Carpenters come up and sing THERE ORIGINAL pieces. !!!! yes
Super van de 60's maar nog altijd heel goed
I miss it too . 😔

Wow the comedy level of the Jonathan Winters skit is off the charts even or today, so tight!
For all we know
Oscar winner. Wonderful
thsnk you so much for sharing 😍😍
una voz muy dulce
❤The Carpenters were awesome, I like Paul and Karen wear Orange and White that's very fashionable to me.
Wow. Where'd all that perfection come from?!
So cute❤️💖
So do i!
OMG Billy! This is soooo good! Haven’t seen this in years! Thank you! (Love KC at the end of the show hahaha )❤️
America is just a shell of it self. So sad.
🤘🏻 🌟 🤘
👌👌🏻👌🏼👌🏽👌🏾👌🏿
que raridade
❤
#JeffPiegari this is so awesome
I didn’t get the skit, but Karen was spectacular
Looks like Jerry Maren there at the end.
50 anos
I like Andy Williams, and really like The Carpenters. However, the opening number seemed to be aimed at young people...and was a total miss. Sometimes when we try too hard to be current and relevant we only show that we aren't.
I wonder if anyone uses this song anymore at their wedding?
They surely ought to!!!!
Don't forget Jonathan Winters and, uh,... isn't that Ozzie and Harriet?
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Something new for me. Has this show been released on VHS or DVD?
Richard. The hair on him!
I know he look like geek
Where are the 🎤 mics?
Qual o nome dessa musica?
So sad to see Karen trying to hide her skeletal frame with those clothes,, as she is slowly dying..
Best part of that skit was Karen in that Purple Dress!!!
Ozzie and Harriet?
Massive Andy Williams fan but I don’t think he added anything to the carpenters
Maine? Didn't he realize that's not a Maine accent. 🤣
We gotta get our Music back, America… I’m up for the task. I love Karen but you’ve never heard a voice like mine. I’ll bet you each a million. Sincerely, Crystal Spivey. Just listen to me sing What A Wonderful World🎶
What?
The former texter is absolutely right!!! Today, in 2023, almost 2024, today's music is, quite frankly, AWFUL!!!
Almost all lip sync. The carpenters deserved better than that.
Oh my God, apart from one Carpenters song, this was god-awful.
What a disaster skit.
What a waste of musical talent! Carpenters and Andy Williams in the same show, and most of the show is silly unfunny skit.
It was 1971.
Was so much in Love with Karen!
