    One question if I may?
    How do I move my roof slabs and beams from my Building to my Story container?

    Turned off all add-ons except Blenderbim now works like a dream.

    • @IfcArchitect
      @IfcArchitect  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Peter, great to hear its working!
      The proper way to change it is something I often forget
      You need to change the spatial container of the slab found here:
      1. Select the slab
      2. Go to: Object Properties / IFC Object Metadata / IFC Spatial container
      1. click on the pencil icon for "Enable editing container"
      2. Select the appropriate container
      3. And click the check box so it has a tick/check
      4. Click "Assign container"
      If that doesn't work out you can inquire further on the OSArch community page found here:
      community.osarch.org/discussion/1240/blenderbim-beginner-tutorial-step-by-step-project-part-1-modelling/p1?new=1

    Thanks for the video. Firstly I am not so sure why my comments are missing here?! As I mentioned before, it seems that BlenderBim does not work for me! I am facing many problems over and over. As I save a project and reopen it, all my elements get screwed up. For example some of my walls get duplicated or some get shortened or even missing altogether! I am about to give this up altogether. For the last effort, I may pay for archipack add-on to see if it works better and if that is also problematic I am going to drop Blender altogether.

    Sorry for asking. Can't we just make the modelling in a more common way, and add the IFC attribute latter?

    • @IfcArchitect
      @IfcArchitect  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Tonni you don't have to apologise,
      You can currently model with Blenders default tools and classify any mesh as any ifc class,
      This video just shows how to model parametrically with IFC standards in mind, it strictly follows building smarts definitions of different classes and that's why it is how it is at the moment, so if you dont mind losing the parametric geometry there is no other downside.
      however if you have any recommendations you can discuss them here on the OSARch community page:

    This is great stuff, but i want to know if the door can be adjusted?

    • @IfcArchitect
      @IfcArchitect  ปีที่แล้ว

      The door can be adjusted in a few ways,
      1. You can edit the door in edit mode and regenerate the opening, (the downside of this is that it will change all doors using that ifctype)
      You can see me edit a door swing here:
      th-cam.com/video/PNoOyCHa_V0/w-d-xo.html
      It works the same for the 3d model geometry
      2. You can change the instance of the door to a different ifctype that is already a different size.
      You can see me swap out a swing door for a sliding door here:
      th-cam.com/video/xWPLZK_WoS8/w-d-xo.html
      I hope that helps, otherwise the developers are currently working on a modifier tool that allows you to create windows of any size and configuration I think that will also become a door tool in the future. I will definitely cover it in a video in the future

      Hi Loctuan,
      I cant say for certain what caused the issue but I have a few suggestions.
      I think make sure your version of BlenderBIm matches the python version, so if you are using Blender 4.1, you need to use the appropriate 'py311' version of blenderbim.
      Separately, try and start a fresh Ifc file and see if it has the same issue.
      And thirdly, the user interface has changed since this tutorial so have a look here if its just in a different place:

      Hi Bentley, this series assumes you know a foundation of Blender + have a good understanding of Architecture / Building.
      If there were particular parts that tripped you up, let me know where and I'll try adjust the next time this series is updated

      I am a real beginner for one month so it is a lot to learn. I am more interested in the architecture and landscape part of Blender. Maybe for the noobs maybe a series of videos that breaks it down into small parts as: video 1)an overview of BlenderBim parts and tools; video 2) make six wall house that has inside/outside corners with no doors or windows then go through the tools for this and issues to watch out for and how to fix, maybe finishing-stucco, siding, etc or would doing the finishing be its own video; video 3) add a door with frame, molding, materials and hardware, the direction of swing and issues to watch out for and how to fix; video 4) add windows- types, fixed, openable, materials, etc, and issues to watch out for and how to fix; Video 5)..... well you get the idea, make videos that add on to the previous ones. Try and think in the way when you started out what you needed to see so you don't say what, what, what was that, oh man I quit. It is easy to do things fast because it is muscle memory and you don't have to think. It is like when I trained people to run equipment they had to stop me and say explain what you are doing so they understood why I was doing what I was doing. Yes, it seems to you to be tedious but that is what the videos you make are for us beginners else ones that know how don't need to watch them. Getting started with Blender this video th-cam.com/video/At9qW8ivJ4Q/w-d-xo.html will help, then follow up with yours.
