Apparently the reason it is a duck is because the land on which the ground was built was originally Deepdale Farm. This was a mixed farm growing crops and keeping livestock, mainly dairy cows. They also had chickens and ducks for eggs and meat. I would imagine the duck was chosen as the mascot for the alliteration. Apprently 'Deepdale Duck' sounds better than Deepdale sheep (up for debate)
Mate, you should have come on ... I would have bought you a beer! We all knew how the City vs Atletico game would end up (just about). At least with the West Lancs Derby, anything can happen ... and it's HOSTILE as hell! I dread to think of the aftermath on the streets afterwards. I didn't stick around to find out ...!
Good question! There's plenty of side streets around Deepdale that you could theoretically park in (watch out for the single and double lines). But me personally, I park about 1 mile away on an industrial estate, so there's plenty of room, it's easier to get to the motorway afterwards and is out of the way so it's not going to be trashed by fans. Google Maps "Fletcher Road, Preston" and park at the middle end, as close to Skeffington Road as you can (roughly where the church is). Then all you have to do is walk up Skeffington for 10-15 minutes, and that'll take you to the South-East corner of the stadium. Hope that helps?
Thanks for the help, unfortunately I panicked and booked a space in the club car park (Bill Shankly). We plan to arrive early and we're in no rush after the match, wish us luck lol.
@@thelifeofriley6890 I think you'll be fine, that used to be where I parked my car when I worked there. I suggest taking your time after the match for about 30-45 minutes until the traffic dies down. Look what shankly said about Finney to say one of many comments about Finney. He ain't just some lost Preston legend pal.
I never once said he was some 'lost legend', I said he's 'arguably the best player to ever play for Preston North End', which is true. Because people are always going to debate what constitutes as 'greatest', especially when you consider how many great footballers there are, and have been. Nothing I said was false.
@@UltimateBucketList i never did say you called him a lost legend. It'd when he's labelled as "arguably Preston's best player to ever live" Finney is alot more than that. No one to ever wear a North End shirt comes even close to Finney. Have you actually seen the quotes on Finney and how good he actually was?? "Arguably Preston's best ever player" 😆😅😆 There's NO ARGUMENT!! HE WAS AND STILL IS. So no, what you said isn't true.. @06:20 And while your at it, maybe throw England's or Worlds best. Not just little ol Preston's best. What a laugh..
@@EGGZ1983 I don't know why you're so angry and fixated on a simple phrase?! I'm actually laughing at you right now. People are always going to debate whether he was or not, or whether he was just good for his time. Would he stack up against the greatest modern players of today? It's debatable. I personally AGREE WITH YOU that Tom Finney was Preston's greatest ever player, but other people are ALWAYS going to debate and dispute that. Hence the phrase. Now if you don't understand that because you can't see wood from trees, I pity you. And if you do understand that, you're splitting hairs. In either case - you're arguing over nothing. Literally nothing.
@@UltimateBucketList like I said nice video. And I'm not angry. I think it's sad you're so naive on the occasion. There Derby your onto yes, but this is Sir Tom's 100th celebration. He's more than just arguably Preston's best ever player. People who support mega clubs will never get it. Football museums go to clubs who didn't even exist when football started. Man Utd aren't even founding members. Deepdales the oldest continually used football ground in the world till this day. Laugh all you want. Are you a prestonian who supports MAN UTD?
@@EGGZ1983 I believe it’s you who’s naïve on this occasion. Because if you’re assuming that I don’t know the significance of Tom Finney because I support a ‘mega club’, you’re unfortunately and sadly mistaken. The fact that you had to bring up which team I support AT ALL, to try and use that to somehow give credence to a rather baseless argument, shows that you’ve got nothing left to argue with. It's the height of ignorance and that’s a pretty low blow … don’t be one of those guys.
The rivalry was enhanced in the 1969:70 season when Fred Pickering scored a hat trick for Blackpool and sent Blackpool up to the old first division and dumped Preston into the third division. Both teams only needed a point to go up and stay up respectively. This is more likely to be the real reason for the agro. If I had a choice of where to live it would have to be Blackpool as it is lively and fun. I did live in Preston for a while but wasn’t really impressed. I’ve seen more life in a tramps vest tbh.
@@UltimateBucketList Blackpool and Bolton is a very bitter rivalry between the 2 sets of fans. Can guarantee fights between the fans will happen in that fixture.
Good video. I suspect North End fans have stay cations in Blackpool while Tangerines shop in Preston. Obviously atmosphere better than Old Trafford. Sorry.
Trust me, no Prestonian stays in Blackpool for just a holiday. And Old Trafford has amazing atmosphere when the team is playing well. This season, it's been anything but - and the crowd noise reflects that.
@@UltimateBucketList Sorry Ultimate but 75 000 should make noise than 23 000. Even on a bad day. The worst atmosphere is New Wembley. Old Wembley much better. Derelict. Shabby. Ramshackle. But brilliant atmosphere. Even for the Sherpa Van Trophy final. Old Trafford is a tourist attraction. People flock from old around the World to pay homage to the revered Theatre of Dreams. But is this an illusion or reality. Unfortunatly North End lives in the past. A visit to the Premier League would be nice. The difference is that your Man United have the resources. North End doesn't. Still. Good video.
As much as i would love to show you fans fighting.. ☠ Some people only leave the house to commit denunciation. Unfortunally officials cant really avoid the press totally.
Yes you did. It's been confirmed by numerous sources that you reduced the allocation to Preston fans by at least 800, giving PNE a total of 2200 away tickets. Blackburn in comparison got over 3000 when they came to Bloomfield Road. Preston retaliated and gave Blackpool just 2200 away tickets to match what they received, even though the Bill Shankly Kop holds over 6000. #fairisfair
@@UltimateBucketList our away end holds 2,200 we gave Blackburn extra tickets because they would sell it out and we wouldn’t. Why would a club give more tickets to away fans when the home fans can sell it out?
Bpool got what they deserved ticket wise,Preston would have liked 10,000 tickets but tinpot pool ground is to small,so we wanted 3,200 ,Bfc and police decided to limit one allocation because of fear of trouble plus they couldn't cope,so the home fans got the remaining tickets for there SHITE little div 2 type ground...
Omission is not the same as lying. I could have added a lot more things that Blackpool fans did, both during and after the match. That still doesn't make me a liar.
You're a little bit inaccurate there ... and what the hell does that matter? A black Superdry coat with orange bits is nothing. I wear the same thing to United games, doesn't make me a Blackpool fan.
I'm a Preston fan and I'd be wary about wearing that colour even if it is small on this game. You sat in the Tom Finney which is historically a safe and family friendly zone. I wouldnt have worn that jacket in any of the other stands!!
@@andrewsingleton246 I think anyone with two brain cells would probably figure out that I wasn't a Blackpool fan, regardless of my choice of clothing. For starters, no Blackpool fan would bother trying to get tickets anywhere other than the Kop. Besides, the guy in the Superdry jacket singing "Blackpool get battered, everywhere they go", is probably not going to be a Blackpool fan!
The reason the club's mascot is a duck and not a sheep is because the sheep is a emblom of Lancashire and the reason for the club's mascot been a duck is thanks to a guy called Simon Nash
Well no, the emblem of Lancashire is the red rose - the emblem of the city of Preston is the lamb. I know that Simon Nash is the original Deepdale Duck, but that doesn't explain why he chose a duck though.
One game is not really enough to judge Preston as a whole now, is it? Besides, they played a lot better than you give them credit for. Given that this team just got a new manager and most of the players aren't going to be around for next season, they did alright. Against Fulham, not so much.
Celtic vs Rangers is more fierce than Burnley vs Blackburn. Fenerbahce vs Galatasaray is more fierce than Burnley vs Blackburn. Boca Juniors vs River Plater is more fierce than Burnley vs Blackburn. What's your point?

Because people are always going to debate what constitutes as 'greatest', especially when you consider how many great footballers there are, and have been.
Nothing I said was false.
@@UltimateBucketList i never did say you called him a lost legend. It'd when he's labelled as "arguably Preston's best player to ever live"
Finney is alot more than that.
@06:20
And while your at it, maybe throw England's or Worlds best.
@@EGGZ1983
I believe it’s you who’s naïve on this occasion.
I'm pne thanks for the video
No problem, glad you enjoyed it!
U r a legend
Thanks.
@@UltimateBucketList welcome
Please do deepdale stadium tour.🥺
They don't do them. At all.
Welcome 🙏 🤗 back
Thanks.
These games can be so dangerous . Some nobender hit me on the head with a meat pie a few years ago. The pies at deepdale are like bricks
Holland's pies are generally like that. Razop sharp crusts.
Good pies though.
Enhanced maybe. But the aggro (or mutual disdain) for each other has always been there.
I went to Blackpool when they played u should go to the pleasure beach and I went to the pleasure beach
I avoid Blackpool where I can ... including that so called 'pleasure beach'.
@@UltimateBucketList oh ok
Love it pal. UTW ⚪️⚪️⚪️
Cheers fella!
I think you should do Bolton vs Wigan
Nah, done it before. That rivalry is 'tame' at best.
Both sets of fans hate each other that won't ever change, just like blackpoool don't like Bolton it's more than rivalry it's life #utmp
Do Blackpool fans not like Bolton? Didn't think they were a blip on your radar?
There's three infinitely more hateworthy teams across the county!
@@UltimateBucketList Blackpool and Bolton is a very bitter rivalry between the 2 sets of fans. Can guarantee fights between the fans will happen in that fixture.
I would try and get a ticket this season if I was you 👍
Please go again next season
Meh, we'll see. I probably won't make a video about it if I do.
Cardiff vs Swansea stadium tour?
Neither do tours.
Still. Good video.
@@UltimateBucketList Thanks Bucket. I like Blackpool. Happy memories. Times change. Visit Morecambe instead. Wonderful views.
Preston would always be the bigger club.
Can't disagree with that.
Great video, great result beating that shit from crackpool, and we all know very soon they will be back down into the div 1 pub league 😂
Well, I think nobody sheds a tear when Blackpool lose, save for Blackpool fans themselves. And thanks! 🙂
Blackpool get battered everywhere they goooooo!
You beat them 1.0 Not exactly battered them ?
Most of the stadium thought the same.
Where in Lancashire boys
Preston. Or Blackpool.

Hibs and Hearts, yes. But getting tickets is hard!
As much as i would love to show you fans fighting.. ☠ Some people only leave the house to commit denunciation. Unfortunally officials cant really avoid the press totally.
I'm not sure what you're getting at?
We didn’t reduce the tickets for Preston . We gave them our away end
not true that is it
@@JCarrPR well it is
Yes you did.
It’s a railway station not a train station lol
Same ... bloody .. thing 🤦
For me the biggest rivals are Blackburn
You'd be in the minority

@@Theking-hk7ej PNE
Wonder how you could see the Blackpool fans chucking flares on the pitch but not preston fans right before 🤥
Omission is not the same as lying. I could have added a lot more things that Blackpool fans did, both during and after the match. That still doesn't make me a liar.
Funny how the (man united fan) said he's supporting PNE Wearing a orange coat ha
@@UltimateBucketListApologies my point is Man united are not rivals with preston & blackpol hence the reason you would be safe at old trafford.
You missing man United vs Leeds there's second rival
As a United season ticket holder, I can confirm that Leeds aren't even on our radar.
Liverpool & City, then Leeds. In that order.
@@UltimateBucketList and Arsenal
The reason the club's mascot is a duck and not a sheep is because the sheep is a emblom of Lancashire and the reason for the club's mascot been a duck is thanks to a guy called Simon Nash
Well no, the emblem of Lancashire is the red rose - the emblem of the city of Preston is the lamb.
I know that Simon Nash is the original Deepdale Duck, but that doesn't explain why he chose a duck though.
Blackpool are pretty good when they can but I’m proud of my cousin on a good performance this season for Blackpool
Yeah, Blackpool are a decent side. Better luck next season.

Watched the game Preston are just long ball merchants it was like a throw back to the 80’s.
One game is not really enough to judge Preston as a whole now, is it?
Besides, they played a lot better than you give them credit for.
Given that this team just got a new manager and most of the players aren't going to be around for next season, they did alright.
Against Fulham, not so much.
burnley vs blackburn is more fierce
Celtic vs Rangers is more fierce than Burnley vs Blackburn.
Fenerbahce vs Galatasaray is more fierce than Burnley vs Blackburn.
Boca Juniors vs River Plater is more fierce than Burnley vs Blackburn.
