49 years ago, when I was first married I made noodles. I didn't know how many eggs to use. I used a dozen! By the time I was done , I had NOODLES everywhere. On the dining room table , hanging over the edge of bowls, and anywhere else I could find! After they were dry, I put them in the freezer. They were delicious. But I did learn to not use quite so many eggs.

My mom, now 94, used to make beautifully decorated wedding cakes. When she made white cake, she always used the yolks to make huge batches of egg noodles and freeze in meal size portions. It is still my favorite meal when I am fighting a bug to have a big pot of chicken and noodles, served over mashed potatoes. I never mastered cake decorating but still doing the noodles often.

Love the music Tessie. We recently started attending a traditional church where old time hymns are sung from a hymnal and the preaching is Biblical, not this new age stuff you often hear today. So refreshing in the times we live in. God hasn’t changed, humans do.

My grandmother was Czechoslovakian and made these noodles. You can even drop in your soup, just don't make them stiff enough to cut. They are the only ones I make. Welcome them. Also she put a tea towel over a chair and put the noodles before cutting them over the chair. When they were dryer she cut them.

My friend's grandparents use to make homemade swedish noodles for her birthday. They made them very similar to how you did other than after they rolled the pasta thin they then folded it twice and then used a knife to cut the strips. It was fascinating to watch. It was made with love. Thanks for sharing.

    "Pennsylvania Dutch"; descendants from Germany?
My ancestors were from Germany, etc.; settled in the midlands of SC; offered free land to become buffer between Native's and Charlestonians. There's a mall - Dutch Fork (ha).
Many years ago I had the wonderful opportunity to ride into an area that ran parallel to the Susquehanna River; stopped in some shops and it was like stepping back in time - the rimstone glasses, the clothing, etc.
Question - where I came from we had "liver puddin"; have you heard of such?
*The music brought tears to my eyes; it was so beautiful! Thank you.

    • @HomesteadTessie

@@HomesteadTessie While most of my ancestors came from Germany; many were from Switzerland. Mama told us we were German/Swiss. Back in the day, the ones that originally welcomed the Germans finally didn't want any more "ruffians", but the welcome mat stayed out for the Swiss. Please, again I ask, are you familiar with "liver pudding". Thank you. I will Unsubscribe & redo. PS - looks like you're losing weight, sweet gal. Always a cheerful experience.

I haven't made noodles in ages. How thin are your rolled. Nothing better. You did a great job making those.. Love your drying rack. Could we put them in a dehydrator to dry them? The little church my mom grew up attending and then moving back. We love singing the old hymns. This so reminds me of Sunday Service. No music just voices the whole congregation singing. Oh love that.
