My printed proxy ogryns have been ordered.. 3 melee style with shields.. If I want shooters in the future I'll sort that later. Was just waiting on this video for some direction. Thank you sir
Good thing I saw the video, now I know what the Early warning rule really means. Unrelated question, if someone does kill my battlemutt I can just post their name and adress in the discord server and you take care of the rest?
Great review as always 😊 One small suggestion, at the when you say which operatives to pick/build, it is easiest if you mention those to drop, then the list is shorter to remember 😅
Thanks for the review! I'm so looking forward to running this team. Have one set of Bulgryns potentially arriving before Christmas (took part in GWs in-store Secret Santa) and looking to buy another box later on. Add in the Provisionally Prepared diorama that my GF bought me for Christmas I'm going to be busy painting lots of short dudes (and their bigger brethren!). Stay Shorty!
My concern with this team is gonna be like old pathfinders…on maps configs that they can set up shots from, with their silent ploys and equipment they’re just going to destroy you. Like how is wrecka crew even supposed to be able to do anything to them with their abilities to disrupt charges and run away? On ITD they’ll suffer pathfinder syndrome and rely entirely on bullgryns and just lose to melee teams
At least 2 of the ratlings have silent profiles. It’s tempting to run 2 Bullgryns and have either super conceal or balanced ploy for free. But 3 Bullgryn is probably better with tons of wounds
when me and my friend saw this we couldn't believe this. my friend plays guardsmen and says he hates how they cant have ogryn but ratlings can have 3 to frontline while all the ratlings are decent at ranged
Putting Big Shot On Guard seems NASTY Also the base sniper operative is a bit disappointing. I liked the direction they were heading trying to give you a reason to take the normal troopers that are given special rules
This team is giving me serious Rogue Trader flashbacks. Yes, I'm old. No ogryns in the box kept me from buying Brutal & Cunning. The MSRP on the two boxes of Ogryns you need to make this team work is $124. And then, there's a really good probability the team is crazy OP upon publication. Please GW, no more broken teams!
I saw somewhere that 1 Ogryn/Bullgryn = 1 Ratling + the 0CP ploy effect instead of 1 Ogryn/Bullgryn = 1 Ratling. I could see how that might be how its supposed to be interpreted, but I also have a hard time understanding GW's way of writing anyways. Would appreciate if anyone could provide some clarification as to why its one way or the other.
I think he clarifies in the other video that you need one box for Bullgryns and one box for Ogryns - but I guess that's just for a full roster? Since he also says here you might as well only use Bullgryns
@@XanderMerx ok, i see my question wasn't clear enough 😅. I was wondering why you need two boxes of ogryns since they come with three in one, but having three orgryn and three bullgryn to mix and mach sounds plausible for me. 👍
Is the use case for Ogryns really to charge and mess with elites? I feel like Bullgryns would still be the way. I can't tell what Ogryns are for in comparison to Bullgryns.
@CanYouRollaCrit sure but we all know it's not a competitively viable choice. This change is to make it more usable while still keeping the theme and some risk
I feel like this team is a miss. If you can't see over walls, then you're going to have a bad time even getting shots off with your stationary guns. I also disagree that Infiltration will be that good. A hook guy on the top floor of Volkus won't be able to see much anyway since he's too short.
The by far ugliest miniatures I have seen in a while. Space dwarfs where already hard to take serious, but space hobbits are something I don't even want to play against.
@@CanYouRollaCrit Well, Fellgor aren't exactly pretty, but that goes for many factions/kill teams. But at least can see how evil goat men could be considered threatening. Ratlings seem like they would have trouble walking in a straight line.
@@ayonmetar2301 Well, gritty ratling snipers have been part of the setting for a very long time. Similarly to halflings from WFRP, nasty little fellows always ready to put a knife inbetween your ribs for a couple of shillings, I think they fit the grimdark setting fine. I agree they may need a more grimy paint scheme, then the studio ones, though.

Damn, how did you have time to already play with these teams enough for not just some first impressions but a review!? That's dedication!
Yeah aha
Ripper guns are essentially big shotguns, which is why they're 3+. The guard gives ogryns guns they don't need to aim, for obvious reasons
They just big Orks in disguise
@@CanYouRollaCritbig friendly orks
The Ratling Sniper is literally Captain Price from the Call of Duty series
Never played cod
When I get mine, I'm gonna name it "The second breakfast Unit"
Perfect naming
You could write "Poe-tay-toes" on bullgryn shields :P

"Lightfingered *weird finger motion* aahuuuu!" im dying
Those crafty little Ratlings 👀

I think they're dominant on all formats. Way too good with 3 ogryns
Get the Raider on the 2nd floor of volkus and unleash your silent profile
Overall im pretty happy with these rules. I am slightly concerned that one ratling is one ogryn. This js gonna cause some issues imo
Yeah the ogryn swapping isn't balanced at all
At least 2 of the ratlings have silent profiles. It’s tempting to run 2 Bullgryns and have either super conceal or balanced ploy for free. But 3 Bullgryn is probably better with tons of wounds
I think I'd deffo do it into Inq but 3 Gryns are so good
Do you really need ogryn?? Or i can live with just fielding bullgryn? ( trying to reason myself out of buying another ogryn/bg box)
Hail Short Kings 🙌🙌🙌
Shorties forever
My only gripe is the hardbit and bomber don't have stub revolvers or shotguns.
They're essential equipment
when me and my friend saw this we couldn't believe this. my friend plays guardsmen and says he hates how they cant have ogryn but ratlings can have 3 to frontline while all the ratlings are decent at ranged
Yeah it's a bit odd
@CanYouRollaCrit personally I think vet guard should have had 1 ogryn choice and then let ratlings have 1-2 bullgryn but make them cost 2 not 1
As an Arbites player, I challenge your mutt to a dog fight, winner feels awful.
DOG DEATHMATCH
Putting Big Shot On Guard seems NASTY
Also the base sniper operative is a bit disappointing. I liked the direction they were heading trying to give you a reason to take the normal troopers that are given special rules
This team is crazy when on Guard
Correct me if I’m wrong, but I think the dog counts toward the 11 unit total and thus counts for the kill op right?
Yup it does, protect the dog

Yeah...kinda rogue trader haha
This team don't need John Weak, they already have Solil Snake
I NEED SCISSORS
I made a homebrew Ratlings/ogryn team so technically I can already make a team. New models are nice though.
Oh nice
I don't get why you need TWO boxes of Bullgryn / Ogryn. Could someone explain that to me?
So you can build 3 Ogryns and 3 Bullgryns
@ but you can only use one or the other. Why both? Just to swap between them depending on who you are playing?
Sorry I’m still very new to this game. Do the ogerrins and borgins not come with this set?
Nope sadly, gotta buy separately

It's in the designer's commentary that if you don't take ogryns you get free ploys
Why do you need two boxes? Is there anything missing for the third guy or just to be flexible?
2 boxes of Ogryns 😬

Ah only if you invest in Ogryns
NGL the fact you need to buy Ogryns is a massive turn off. Was really looking forward to this team otherwise, even if I don’t play it much.
Yeah it's annoying you need at least one box
I think Stolen goods should have been a d6. 1 you lose a cp. 2-5 you gain. 6 you gain they lose 1
