for those interested in Corsairs and building with one box, it's pretty easy to magnetize the arms. I built all the options with one box. Tried that with legionaries, not as easy with the limited arms/pauldrons.
I think Hand of The Archon is more begginer friendly than Corsair Voidscarred. They stay in rotation for at least 1,5 year. They can be magnetized, but they are quite small so be careful (only 3 models need to be magnetized: Gunner, Heavy Gunner, Archsybarite). so you only need one box and you are still left with some leftover bits, even after building all 10 models. They are also imo easier to paint and imo bit easier to play.
@@CanYouRollaCrit fair point, magnetizing can be intimidating and they are quite small ^^. I find the pain token management to be quite intuitive and the abbility to skip a turn is a godsend when I don't have a good move
what are your thoughts on the farstalker kinband? im looking to get into kill team and keep coming back to them, I have a friend who already has 4/5 of the choices you mentioned.
Don’t disagree and as a new KT player it definitely impacted what teams I looked at. But just another perspective: No new player is likely entering a classified tournament anytime soon anyway, and they’ll still get rules support for 3 years. This was my (possible cope) when I got Blooded.
Gonna be honest, I expected Legionaries would be on the list. I started KT during 1st edition, dropped off during 2nd, and now have been playing 3rd edition once a week with my friend for a few months now. We've played about a dozen games of Legionaries Vs. Void-dancer Troupe (Only teams that we had complete with the 3rd ed. team format change). There is a simplicity in only having to make (essentially) 6 decisions per turn. Start with a basic list: Chosen, Icon B, Mr. Claw, Melta-man, Butcher, & 1 Warrior, give them all the same mark (Khorne or Undivided are fun to start with), and use all 4 of the team equipment options. The characters rules are simple triggers to follow. Makes it easy to memorize everything over time, and the team is forgiving. You're rarely going to lose 2 operatives to a single enemy model bc of a bad move. As you get all the rules down, expand your army roster, test the Acolyte, Shrivetalon, Plasma-man, 3 heavy gunners (I wish the HG's played better in the game bc I have 3 cool older metal ones that sat in a box for 10+ years that I painted up for my team, lol) Great videos, keep it up. :-)
@ imho, new players shouldn’t consider mixing things up like that until they have a 1/2 dozen games in and all the basic game mechanics memorized. I ran the same 6 guys for the first 5 games to get a feel for how they play, memorize their stats and abilities, and learn the game mechanics with as few pieces of paper as possible. The ease for new players comes from not having to remember a bunch of interactions and making sure you’re doing them at the right time. Take Security, mark ‘em all Khorne, and go chop a bunch of pour souls up :-) I give you props for listing plague marines bc they’re…they’re not the same as legionnaires, but they’re like the legionary’s weird cousin with poor hygiene, ya’know?
Okay some good selections. I see that Aeldari christas jumper. Counterpoint though: new players should be playing the coolest Killteams and that means Harlequins hey?
Hey I'm trying to get into warhammer and it seems like kill team is a smaller scale/shorter version of the game. Would it be a good way to introduce me to Warhammer?
I’m looking to get Corsair. What happens if they are not classified anymore? Will I still be able to use them for casual play? What type of games can I use them after this happens?
The Starter Set is a good place to put an AoD team together but unfortunately, i think GW kind of missed the plot when they made Strike Force Justian. It is still forcing new players to get their hands on a box of Intercessors and Assault Intercessors for the appropriate loadouts on the two mandatory specialist options, namely the Gunner and the Grenadier.
I still don't get the vox trooper. The way it reads is "next activation". So the moment they activate and have been expended they lose the APL. Not keep it until the next turning point. Are you saying to put it on already expended operatives so the next turning point you could potentially use it again to give 4 kasarkin 3 APL for a turn? Please explain?
I’ve heard the Legionnaires are also a good start? I bought them, the Kasrkin, Imperial Agents (2bxs), and the Starter set (and also Hive Storm). I pre ordered Hieratic Circle, Novitiates and the Kinband (Croot). The Necrons look involved, but wanted to grab before FOMO 😅😢
@@CanYouRollaCrit I started by playing Legionnaires not long ago, I think they are a pretty solid team to start with and here's why: 1) They are an elite team so only 6 operatives, less guys to keep track of. 2) When choosing your Chaos God faction while learning the game, I have all my operatives use the same God. This makes remembering the rules a lot easier, I get to test each selections play style, and it helps limit the ploy options for ease of use as well. I don't feel overwhelmed by the options. 3) Equipment is SUPER EASY to pick, give Warded Armour to an operative you want to live through some heavy fire, and Tainted rounds to the rest. fishing for Crtis with this team is the name of the game and they have so many ways of doing so. 4) you can run all the specialised operatives (Shrivetalon, Butcher, Anointed, Acolyte), or just have your leader, and all warriors/gunner/heavy gunner. The warriors are still solid options and they can switch Chaos God favor when activated. This lets you change up play style mid turning point or game to try your luck with other options. 5) They are a 1 box team. You can build all the special operatives. Then buy an additional box of basic CSM for extra warriors and gunner/heavy gunner options. 6) you can find CSM on ebay for cheap, this helps new players try a competitive team for lower costs! Win Win.
I already got 6 intersessors and 6 assault intersessors just need to assemble the captain from company heroes box, 1 eliminatior, and as soon as it comes into the mail 1 heavy intercessor with heavy bolter. Also my only complaint is that the captain is only limited to just a plasma pistol and power fist and not be allowed to use other weapons like the thunder hammer and power sword
What about Nemesis Claw? I think they also could be decent for new players, but don't really know much about them, other than they might be one box and they are failry recent team
Ah I think they're a bit complex due to Prescience management as well as constantly remembering to check obscuring as well as being mostly melee with lots of unique actions
Hello, I was just looking at voidscarred but the fact that it is dated 1 year ago means that it can't be played anymore? Or will they be in that rotation again? thank you!
the starter set isn‘t even legal to play, is it? You can‘t play a sergeant and captain at the same time and you can‘t play a heavy and sniper at the same time. You could pretend that the sergeant is a regular warrior and get around that…
I personally found grey knights an amazing team for new players (like myself). Not sure how relevant they are these days rules wise but i would still recommend for first time players. Straight forward and strong boys❤😂
Good timing: my brother-in-law is playing his first game of Kill Team with me this weekend and he’s painted up a Kommandos team.
Oh nice, that's great to hear!

I'm new to K.T. so your vids are proving very useful. This one especially! Many thanks 😊
Oh thank you! That's great to hear! Happy to be of help (:
Just bought the new hivestorm box excited to get into killteam!
Oooh nice, that's great to hear! Hope you have fun!
thanks man, will be watching all your videos while I assemble the box 🫡

Ah I find HotA harder to play and I wouldn't recommend magnetising to new players (as it can be hard to do). I was tempted to do HotA tho!

They're fun but quite hard to play as you need 2 boxes as well. Just gotta get past that hurdle and it's fine (:
The only reason I wouldn't recommend commandos because their getting classified soon. Otherwise spot on
Yeah that's their only downside imo

@gwitch yeah it's partly why I said it doesn't matter that much really, just have fun!
It's literally what stopped me buying a box, but I intend to revisit them after I get a 3d printer in the new year

Legio are kinda too complex now for new players imo, especially with Mark swapping

What do you think about ratlings as a beginner team? With or without Bullgryns.
Very hard as a beginner team imo sadly
Which of the Adeptus Sororitas would yoy recommend for a new player?
Noviates is all there is sadly
Dang. Thank you so much for the suggestion!
I can’t do one box easy anything so I’m making Horus heresy angels of death using 30k bits and just making sure we are equipped and based properly
Ooooh sounds nice!
Okay some good selections. I see that Aeldari christas jumper. Counterpoint though: new players should be playing the coolest Killteams and that means Harlequins hey?
Harlequins are too kewl for dancing! Also nice spot aha
For the Kommandos, the Comms Boy has a 6 attack Shokka pistol.
Oh true!
In my last game, my Comms rolled 3 crits in both of the attacks he made! Face meltingly good

True but those never came with Justian sadly
As new...i took plague and angels because they were cheap and they were painted ☝🏻 full battle ready🫡
Oh nice!
Where to get them

My rule of thumb for the claw is play like the night lords are portrayed in the lore , i.e. be sneaky and look for unfair fights.
How does classified work? Does it cycle or is that team just not playable moving forward?
Not playable in classified events which are currently just GW events and WTC
What do you reckon on wreckage krew as a beginner team?
They're not bad but will be hard to play with if you can't engage early or roll poorly
Luv me kommandos
Luv me sum WAAAAGGGH!

i want a hellblaster in my squad, sad times. Just start playing kill team love this vid very helpful
Ah great to hear! Hellblasters would be great but would involve buying a box just for 1 sadly
no aquilons? I've heard they are super noob friendly too

Yeah effectively, you'll never run the boltgun-only sergeant anyway
Yep, I'm not sure an illegal team is the no. 1 best choice for new players 🤔
@d-rex7043 you just run the bolter sarge as a warrior, no issue
I personally found grey knights an amazing team for new players (like myself). Not sure how relevant they are these days rules wise but i would still recommend for first time players. Straight forward and strong boys❤😂
There is no more Grey knights kill team anymore.
They don't exist in the new edition
