Also gtx 1080s can be had for about 100 on ebay with no fans, I got one for another build and zip-tied a case fan on it, thermals are amazing, would you recommend that combo for budget 1080p gaming?

    • @RememberThisTech

      Hi there. the 2650 is roughly close to the i7-8700k If you want higher clocks the 8700k clocks way higher. If you want more multitasking more cores threads then the 2650. As far as what motherboard to go with and the support you have to read each one and see what CPU's they list as supported.

When you go into windows updates there should be a small link below the regular updates that says something like "install additional or secondary drivers" something along those lines. Click on that and select the addition drivers and install those. That should correct at least a few for you. After a few rounds of checking for drivers and updates and reboots my drivers were good to go. You can also try going directly to the mobo manufactures website and look for drivers there. Hi mate, I'm looking at two of these with Xeon E5 2680 V3's one for a Truenas NAS and the other for a Jellyfin box, would they be worth getting? The boards don't have the required sata ports so an M.2 to Sata card will be required. Thanks.

    • @RememberThisTech

      Hey there! Well for the cheap price you would be getting that combo for I'd probably say yes. But your right in that there's limited sata ports and you would def need that Sata card. They do have some larger full atx versions of some of these mobos. Perhaps that "if you can find one" might for better for your truenas box? I've got mine running solid with a E5 1660 v4 8 core 16 thread. I also picked up 32 gb of ecc 2400 mhz ddr Samsung server ram for $30 so if you go this route there's value in that too. @@RememberThisTech Thanks for the reply mate. I originally wanted these boards for ECC support but in various forums its a toss up if there is full ECC support because it depends on which modules used and the information is quite limited on which modules are supported with working ECC functionality.
      I wanted the M-ATX size because these would be going in Thermaltake V21 cases but its a drawback because there aren't enough Sata ports. So I decided on an M.2 to Sata expansion but according to various threads its another toss up on which M.2 will be supported on which board.
      Another thread in server subred a guy bought 4x of these with two being faulty so according to his experience that's a 50% fault rate. I've decided to not bother with ECC and just go with an i5 12400 on B660 boards with 2x16gb Ram with two 120gb SSD's mirrored for Truenas and 2x 20tb drives mirrored.
      These NAS will be working 24/7 so I need them to be stable, yea these cheap combos are great deals but how long will they function for? I don't want to take that risk so its better to just spend the extra and build something that will work for the next 5 years or so.
      Thanks again, I appreciate your time.

I can't say what is a safe temp for the vrms. But having a fan blowing on them like you did should help. A larger vrm geatsing of aluminum or copper could help but if you spend a ton on it who knows if you'd be better off with a used name brand board at that point.

      Hi there. I'm currently not sure either. That function could be buried deep in the Bios or perhaps it might not be present at all. If I find it I'll let you know.

      @@biesbop4714 Just Google Windows 11 TPM bypass. You can do one method where you will need to enter registry keys and one method uses Rufus to edit the 1indows 11 boot image.

      @brianwilliam6288 Hi there. Was the power sup working before? Also what cpu are you using because that and gpu plus drives and ram could be pulling a lot of power...Also are you getting and beep codes or is it not turning on at all? Try one stick of ram only in the first slot.. let me know how it goes! I had a start up issue and it was because the mobo wouldn't start at first and could only use one ram stick in the far left slot. Then I had to go into the bios to tweak the ram configuration.

    What type of casing would be suitable for this motherboard?

    • @RememberThisTech

      Good question! I'd go with a mid tower. One could get a micro atx case, but I'd advise against that. A mid atx tower will allow for more fans and better airflow. Also, it might allow for a longer video card. Thanks for watching and commenting. I appreciate it.
