My goodness! I love love love VW bus! What a perfect vehicle for Mary Carl to drive!! All young ladies need to find out about cars and maintenance on a vehicle!! So sorry for the loss of Goat
I'm 70 years old and still don't know squat about a car. Not only did my dad and older brother not teach me, my husband did everything including keeping gas in our vehicles. Well, after he died, I was pretty much on my own and I made a big, big mistake! I put diesel gas in my little Altima. I didn't get a block from the gas station. Ended up getting it towed and had to spend mega bucks for a new motor. So, Jason, I am thrilled to know you are the kind of daddy every girl should have! Show her my awful story so she'll never use that green hose to fill up her car and truly appreciate you caring enough for her not to be caught in that kind of situation. Love to you all! Happy new year!
OMG, what a good daddy you are, to your daughter and all the “kids” on the farm. I can see Mary Carl in that bus! ❤️❤️❤️And I love that you will do it together, and she will never forget. Some of the best memories with my dad.
Yes!! In our house, knowledge is power! My husband taught all of our kids how to change a tire, change oil and care for their cars before they got their licenses. On New Years Eve our 20yr old daughter called and said, “Dad, my headlight went out, so I went to the auto parts store, asked questions, bought the part and fixed it myself! In the parking lot!” 😂😂. She was so proud of herself and she said are you proud of me, Dad? And he said ALWAYS! ❤. Mary Carl will love this time spent with you and also the independence it gives her! Sending much love and blessings to all at Cog Hill ❤.
Good for you Jason teaching Mary Carl about cars. I took auto mechanics back in 1975 and it has paid off so many times over the years. Especially when it came to purchasing a car or when they’ve needed service. Knowledge is power.
Way to go, Jason! My dad did the same for me and I have always been so grateful for it! I even learned to change my oil, plugs, and plug wires when needed.
Fun! So excited for MC!! We had WV bus growing up! My big brother taught me how to drive stick and to work on my 1st car. Later I had a teal 63’ Ford Falcon convertible that I worked on myself.
Jason, you should also teach her about a checkbook, canning food, and any other survival knowledge you can impart. She is exceptional, and you need to equip her with the best of it, for her sake. Schooling only goes so far. 🩷🙏🏼💐
How cool is the VW bus? MaryCarl is an amazing young lady, with excellent taste. Congratulations on finding her dream car, and the awesome opportunity to work on and restore a vintage VW bus. I can’t wait see the progress! Jessie says she’s not playing with no soap on a rope ball! Good to hear the family is feeling better!
Jason, you teaching Mary Carl how to work on her car and drive a standard transmission brought tears to my eyes. My dad passed away a few years ago. I am now 58 years old and the memories I have of him teaching myself and my twin sister to drive a stick and how to do general maintenance on our vehicles has been a memory I hold very dear (the boys were always impressed by our skills also😂) God bless you and your family for sharing a portion of your lives with all of us. I took a class on the basics and I loved it. Teaching Mary Carl th e basics will definitely help her for years and your right it helps that she won’t get ripped off by someone. Have fun!
My dad died when I was 6 . I wish he had been there to teach me the basics about vehicles that's very important to know . She WILL remember everything you teach her, Jason. Don't forget to teach her how to change her own tires .
Love the VW. Mary Carl is going to love it. My dad was a mechanic. He taught me how to work on my vehicle. That is something she definitely will be proud to know how to do. It’s going to be very useful in her future.
So glad to hear Brooke, MaryCarl, and Mom are getting better. Don’t rush things..still take care .❤ I’d love to see the Emus do a dance. The ball dangling sounds like a great idea. My dog Holli loves his ball hanging especially on a door. He learned how to shut the door when I ask him😊 , Jason have fun 😊
She will cherish the memories you'll make teaching her AND she will be grateful for the knowledge. My daddy taught me and those are some of my best memories with my daddy and I'm 47 years old. ❤
Jason, teaching MaryCarl the basics of caring for and repairing her VW is a priceless gift, especially if she's willing! Some of my fondest memories of my dad are us working together on his vehicles. Started when I was 12 just handing him the right tools and learning where things were, learning the names of parts and how they work together. At about age 14/15, he taught me how to do body work (back when cars rusted out😂. MaryCarl will understand the importance of basic upkeep and minor repairs when she's out on her own, and dishonest repairmen won't be able to take advantage of her. This is such a lovely bonding project!❤
You are absolutely right about teaching Mary Carl the basics in car maintenance as well as father/daughter time. I'm 76. Daddy would not allow me to get my driver's license until I could change oil, change a tire, keep an eye on fluids and drive a stick. To this day I remember it like yesterday and will never forget. This actually gave me goosebumps listening to you talk about it. Can't wait till the day she drives off !
Great to hear reports on Brooke, her momma, and MaryCarl all feeling much better. MaryCarl's new VW bus is gonna be so much fun. Love 🌼 🌸 her choice to learn how to drive a stick shift. The two of you working side by side should be exciting as well. The hanging red ball- Jessie says nah!
My Dad was just the opposite. He gave me a car that wouldn't run. Which was good because I didn't have a license! I was not allowed to even go into an auto parts store!

So happy Brooke and MaryCarl are on the mend ❤ I have to say, Jason, seeing the dad you are to Marycarl is wonderful. My heart is warmed in so many of the places my childhood disappointments left it cynical. I hope that makes sense. Your family is one to aspire to. ❤
That is my husband’s favorite car. We had one in the 70’s/80’s. The only problem we ever had with it was the clutch would break - like 3 times. Enjoy! Much ❤️❤️❤️
Before I was allowed to get my drivers license I had to know the basic knowledge of how an engine works, how to change oil, change a tire, spark plugs, check oil, check tire pressure, check anti freeze, how to put gas in and what kind, ect... Mary Carl you have my dream vehicle! I always wanted one to travel in during the summer and other school breaks. Have fun learning about with your dad. Those are some of my best memories with my daddy.
Me too! It was up to the parent to teach how to drive and teach how a car works. I live in Indiana. You can send your child to a driving school but I was child #5 so Dad was a pro teacher on all things cars. He thought me how the engine runs, change oil and change a tire in case of a flat. Much more.
Fantastic teaching MC how to do those things with vehicles - I'm so glad my daddy brought me up to do the same. He taught me carpentry and metal work too whilst my mum taught me to cook, sew and craft - I truly had the best of both of them.
Did Brooke notify G&G Farms that she has Covid since she was there delivering the donkey? Also the people they picked up the donkey from! Everyone feel better! God Bless! I don't think Nugget knows he is an emu or what to do since he has never been around another emu, ever until Goldie!
You go MaryCarl!!!!!!!!!!Love it. My firt car was a vw bug and I am jealous. My father made me learn to change a tire and do some upkeep on my car before I could drive. It came in handy because I got caught out on a country road in the middle of nowhere and had a flat. I knew just what to do. Thanks daddy, you saved the day. Cell phones were no where in sight in those days.

Always a smile on my face when I see Cog Hill. My daddy taught me the basics on cars as well. Changing oil. Tires. Spark plugs etc. on the older vehicles lessons are invaluable. I taught my son too. The memories are the best. My best friend and I completely tore her bug apart and cleaned and painted and were so proud!! We were even proud when we pushed it home several miles 😂😂😂 oh love you guys so much !!! Y’all be good ❤
You need to leave the ball hanging for a few days for the animals to get used to it hanging. It took our goats and donkey about a week and then once they knew it was safe all fun broke loose and last time I was at the farm we had 3 more hanging from tress and the rafters. They need time to get used to new things.

Mary Carl can learn a lot too by buying her 0wn Gas too..and oil..also tires if need be...they learn real fast to appreciate their parents and show respect once a bad attitude shows up,,the keys come back to mom and poppy.. oh yah, real quick ! nice bus..
Think you should hang the jolly ball a tad lower and just leave it up til the goats and Jessie get use to it. They sometimes need to warm up to things.
It's wonderful to hear that you want MaryCarl to learn cars from you, my husband taught our daughter about cars , he has since passed, but to this day my daughter still talks about her Daddy showing how to replace the brakes and other stuff. It was as you said Daddy daughter time.
I’m so happy everyone is on the mend..🙏🏻🙏🏻 and very happy you are ok to take care of those animals Jason. Jessie makes me laugh. She’s fun! I love the bug mobile idea for you and Mary Carl. She’s a lucky girl to have such wonderful parents. I will continue my prayers for your family…much love love to all❤💐💕💖💓
Hello Jason, so good to hear everyone is doing well and feeling better. Having you teach MaryCarl how to change oil, etc on the VW Bus will be a blessing for her. I learned how to fix a car from my Dad and I am so happy I learned. When I have a probllem with the vehicle or any mechanical item, I am able to diagnose the problem or close to it. That is a wonderful skill to have, plus you get the impress the male friends. Just so you know, I now have Patsy Kline in my ear as well 😂
So glad to here Brook and Mary Carl are starting to feel better. Jason you stay healthy. I love the daughter daddy project my dad and I did the same thing and I love all the memories I have of it. Stay well.
So glad to hear that all the ladies are feeling better. Great news. I love the VW bus you got for MaryCarl. She is going to enjoy working on it with you Jason. Teach her some mechanics she can do herself and not allow garages to take advantage of her because she is female. She will set them straight I am sure. The same way she does about her bird knowledge. That Jessie is such a hoot. I love watching her with her ball.
A VW Bus!!! Oh my…..I’m a bug person. I own a fully restored 73 Super B, having done a lot of the work myself. How did I learn to work on one? My daddy! I’m a girl. His requirement was I had to be able to change the belt, at night. I wasn’t allowed to drive it away from home until then.
Emu's do a mating Dance the males do. And their mating season is usually December and January. It sounds like that is exactly what you witnessed witnessed!❤ Love is in the air for The Sheriff
Love, love, love that the health of the Cog Hill folks is improving! I'm so happy that you all are so attached to your farm family. The love you have for all the critters at Cog Hill makes the videos so much more fun. Your chats during chores is wonderful! MaryCarl's VW is perfection. Teaching her the basics of mechanics is going to be valuable for the rest of her life. Love every single one of you!!💕
My Daddy made me learn to drive in a VW bug. I had to learn to check the oil and tire pressure, change a tire and also BACK UP all the way around the block ! I can now drive anything, and still prefer a stick. This will be lovely for her adventures. With caveats, well done. Great news on the Sick Front, happy all are improving.
What a fun video Jason. I am happy to hear that Brook and MaryCarl and grandma are feeling better. There is so much sickness going around. I love how you talk to the animals as you go about your work around the farm. Stay well and happy New Year.
Would love to have been a fly on the wall when you watched that game ! If you stood up and shouted like I did.....it was a mess. So glad everyone is feeling a little better. ❤
I used to help my dad work on cars out under a shade tree when I was young. Mostly I just cleaned engine parts and handed him tools, but what memories that I’ll always cherish! ❤ Good on ya, Jason. You’re an excellent dad.
Great video. I would have lowered the Jolly ball a bit more & left it up for a couple days. Glad everyone is on the mend, too. Stay healthy, Jason & see you on the next video ❤

It’s not worse than feeling down and just yucky. Sending lots of love and prayers that everyone gets back on their feet real soon.❤❤❤❤

once a bad attitude shows up,,the keys come back to mom and poppy..
oh yah, real quick ! nice bus..
Praying that Brooke will recovers quickly. Praying for Mary Carl too. I love you all.
Ha. Jason. They may like better if you remove it the long rope. Jessie so smart give it time❤❤❤
That's a brillent idea Jason.. Such a valuable gift you too can share and she does need to learn this these days. ❤❤❤
Leave the ball up and watch for her to play when you're not there. The goats may start playin with it.
I will continue my prayers for your family…much love love to all❤💐💕💖💓
Lucky girl Mary Carl it's a sweet van. Great idea Jason ❤😊
Just so you know, I now have Patsy Kline in my ear as well 😂
Please leave the ball up a few days to see if they like it
Moo Man may need a mettie Pettie soon. Well, with a VW van you know if she gets to the speed limit it will be a miracle.
Maybe leave the ball tied up for a while so they get the idea how to play with it. 😜👍
So glad to here Brook and Mary Carl are starting to feel better. Jason you stay healthy. I love the daughter daddy project my dad and I did the same thing and I love all the memories I have of it. Stay well.
Try lowering the hanging ball so Jessie can kick it or head butt it. Well wishes for your family! ❤
Jason... Thank you for your positive attitude
im so glad to hear everyone is getting better love you all
Leave the jolly ball up for a while, I believe Jessie, and Mildred will start to play with it knocking it around
Good morning from WNC! Good news to hear everyone is on the mend. Sending love and prayers. ❤🌻
Thank you!!!
Love every single one of you!!💕
Great news concerning the improved health of the Cog Hill Family. Tons of love and prayers always headed your way.🙏🏼❤️❤️🙏🏼
So adorable when Jessy plays with the ball
My Daddy made me learn to drive in a VW bug. I had to learn to check the oil and tire pressure, change a tire and also BACK UP all the way around the block ! I can now drive anything, and still prefer a stick. This will be lovely for her adventures. With caveats, well done. Great news on the Sick Front, happy all are improving.
What a fun video Jason. I am happy to hear that Brook and MaryCarl and grandma are feeling better. There is so much sickness going around. I love how you talk to the animals as you go about your work around the farm. Stay well and happy New Year.
Thank God for the healing! Prayers continue for that and protection for all including the animals! God bless!🙏💖
Way to go, dad !! My dad did the same thing with my 1955 Chevy😅 I drove that car back and forth to nursing school, and my hospital assignments four years, lt was 8 years old when I bought it, and it served me well all those years. I can just see MaryCarl driving down the road with all her bird çagès hanging from the inside ceiling, making house çalls😅😅🐓🐔🐦🦅🦆🪿🦤 21:21
MaryCarl is so blessed to have a daddy like you. Those life lessons and time spent are priceless.
Congratulations Mary Carl!! It is beautiful, love the old VW buses. How proud you must be to have a dad like Jason and Brooke. You were a wonderful beautiful smart little girl who is becoming a great young lady. ❤️🙏
Prayers for speedy recovery for Brooke, MaryCarl, and mom! It was great to see Jessie play with her red ball again!! Garden looks fabulous. God bless Cog Hill Farm and all of the animals! 💜❤❌⭕
Dont take the jolly ball down!!! Lower it a bit and maybe they'll give it a try again.
HEY! Gooood morning !!
Morning!🤗
That’s really a good skill to have is knowing something about vehicles that way when she goes to get some work done on her car that she can’t do she knows that damn they’re not gonna try to pull the wool over her eyes when she hast to have certain work done it’s good to know something about your vehicle❤ and as far as everyone’s health I’m glad everyone is feeling better. It’s not worse than feeling down and just yucky. Sending lots of love and prayers that everyone gets back on their feet real soon.❤❤❤❤
Your such great parents. When you first said you bought it for her I was surprised but then you said you wanted to teach her everything about her future car and I am so very proud of you. This is wonderful.
Blessings and fast healing to the Smith Family and Brooke’s Mom.🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻❤️❤️❤️❤️
I knock on wood but I have never had the covid bug since the beginning of it. I do have a winter thing though...nobody comes to my place in winter to visit. It's not hard for me because no one visits me anyway. I hope your family gets well soon. You all are in my prayers.
I haven’t had it either. I’m 0- blood type. Some say we’re more resistant.
Leave the ball. They will warm up to it.
Hope Brook is feeling better. Sending prayers.
Glad to see you helping Mary Carla learn about her new ride.❤❤ It will be good for you and her to bond. Train her right and she will remember it forever. 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏 for good health.
