Jason, when I lived in Denver I had to walk my pups several times a day regardless of the weather. After several falls on icy roads I bought these stainless steel things you slip over your shoes. They grip into the ice. I never fell again. They were wonderful and saved me broken bones. They are not expensive. While you might only use once or twice a year, avoiding a broken hip or arm would be invaluable.
That's great advice, thank you!
Yes.... There are Anti-slip > Winter Ice Cleats / Traction Grips / Spikes.... to strap on the bottom of your Shoes and Boots. ($15 - $20. - $35 )
> For you Southern folks.. that don't normally deal with ICE or snow. ( and those of us that do, all the time...haha)
Many different brands: YakTrax / IceTrax / Due North / Sheefly.
My friend in Canada swears by Yaktrax. You just slip them on over your shoes and you get instant traction in the ice.
JASON…. Morgan @ GOLD SHAW FARM in VT does his farm chores in these cleats that slide over his farm boots.
Just thought about something: if you have some coarse salt, sprinkle some where it's too slippery, like those stairs. The ice will melt right off. In temps like we have here(- 30 to 40 C), it doesn't always work, but as high as your temps are there, it will work in minutes. Of course regular salt will work too, but it would take more. You'll be able to get those egg in safety
Jason and Brooke are two of the best people I know. You can always feel like you belong with them . Just wanted to say thank you and God bless you all
The ambulance takes the farmer quip was classic! You kill me. Love you in the morning you brighten my day.
GOOD MORNING COG HILL SQUAD. NO ONE ELSE MAKES ME LAUGH LIKE YOU JASON ALWAYS PUT ME IN A GOOD MOOD THANK YOU JASON
Hi. I really enjoy how he talks to the animals. Jason says such funny stuff 😂.
I totally agree with you. He had me laughing all the way through this video.
@@Lulu4Him I ENJOY JASON&BROOKE THEY REALLY DO LIGHT UP MY DAY AND THE WAY THE ANIMALS RESPOND
@@jacqueline-fc8wb A WARM HEART WILL ALWAYS MAKE YOU SMILE
Your Animals are living their best life in the Palacehotel „Cog Hill Barn“
I live in Canada 🇨🇦 The trick to not slipping on Ice and Snow is to walk like a penguin. Imagine looking after animals in that for 4 months 😂. My sister in Calgary woke up to -50c the other day.
me too, my sister-in-law laugh at each other when we walk like that. Patty@@chi4ever982
Good morning., Jason. You bring a smile to my face, a hug to my arms and a huge embrace to heart as I send you all blessings
Cleats ( for the bottom of your shoes ) would be a great addition to your winter “ equipment “, Jason. 😊
Life on the farm, they said
It’s gonna be fun… they said
LOL 🐄
Morning Coghill, may the icy weather pass quickly, and the animals stay warm in the meanwhile .😊
😊😊😊
Stay warm. Here in Orlando it is 60°. Was just at our house in NC and it was 28° and snow flurries and ice. Our gate latch froze and I had to use a flame flicker to defrost it when we left. Supposed to get down in the teens in the next few days up there. Just the few days we were there was enough for this Florida girl. ( I do have to say I played in the flurries though.)😆🥶😍❄️🌡️
🙏 Amen
For some reason the Blast missed Northern New Mexico... where I am...
It is still pretty darn cold.
Please stay safe & warm.
Lol😂 I lost count of how many times I fell. My wife saw me one time and asked if I was ok. I said " I have been practicing and I'm good at it now. 😂
If we new a freeze was coming, as soon as the temperature dropped we would hose down all of our fruit trees so that a layer of ice would form on them!!! It works as an insulator to protect the trees from damage!!! We had apple trees, pear trees, peach trees, hickory & walnut & pecan trees, grapes, raspberries, strawberries, etc... All were protected without any damage for over 50 years!!! Most people don't think outside the box but it works every time!!! Love Y'all & God Bless!!!❤❤❤
Brooke could fill the bathtub with cold water, she doesn't need the pond.😂❤
Those ducks look like drunken sailors walking up the icy hill to the food bowl :)
Jason, you are so funny! “Live on a farm they said. It would be fun they said”.
Peaches definitely appears happier and more engaged since having access to the barn.
Jason we call is the “ Penguin Walk” when walking carefully in ice and snow. 9 degrees right now in Northern Michigan!!
Gus had snored so Loretta kicked him out. He made like he was waiting for food😂😂❤
I learned this from a nurse and every once in a while if I need to I practice it she wore a pair of sports socks over her shoes so she could go up and down the steps when she visit the client's home. When we back in the day had visitors and it snowed on us while you know the visitors, take a sheet and put it over the so they would not slip.😊
I like the Christmas story a lot. i like the lamp a lot. You just sound like kevin on hidden heights good job, jason and Brooke 🐕🐕🐓🐓🐔🐔🐖🐖🐖🐄🐄🫏🐐🐐🐐🐐
8:22 no matter the challenges it is clear, you and the fam are living a dream in paradise 🌞💖🌞
It's not glamorous, but growing up in Northern Michigan, I used to put a container of Morton's salt in my coat pocket. That way when I encountered ice on a surface I had to walk on, I could toss some salt in my path and it would melt the ice and provide some friction so I didn't fall. Worked well, not too expensive, and the container it comes in fits in a coat pocket. Stat safe.😊
You would think I would have come across that idea sometime in my over 70 years. Especially since I have lived all that time in NW Indiana right on Lake Michigan.
Snow & lake effect snow, ice, zero temps....brrrrr!
Jason was having fun feeding the animals. no falling. be bless SAVANNAH TN. Jan.17,2024.
Good Morning Cog Family & Squad ❤
Good morning 🌞
Years ago, we lived out in the country. When the temperature was dropping the cows became very playful. Jumping, bouncing, running...they had a good time. I enjoyed watching them. ❤ It's good seeing the animals be happy and carefree.
Ice cleets for shoes, saved me many times on the ice!!! Thinking of everyone that has to go out in this cold weather. Stay warm and upright 😄
When it is freezing the mind gets cold and things are easy to forget.
Jason, I always appreciate your riotous laughter and jolly spirit. Thanks for being you!
14 this morning in Georgia. Thankfully all is well pipe wise so far. I can't imagine what you have to go through with the animals. Laughed out loud about "can't put my arms down." So true. You need to get some of those cleats you can buy to put on your shoes to walk on ice. Pretty cool things.
Under 30 in Florida. I had to throw my fitted sheets over our palms bless their hearts. We don't do well under 60. 😂❤
Our pipes are partially frozen
After dealing with 3 days of 4-12 degrees and hauling water for the chickens, I’m done with this mess of 6-8 inches of snow. Thankful it’s not ice, the ☀️ is out today and the power stayed on in Memphis 🙏 Hope everyone’s power stays on! 😊
Use a crock pot for their water dishes It is working well up here in Missouri and worked at -7 with a wind chill of -16
@@YAYA-bv7po I’ll try that thanks!
Using a crock pot for the water is a great idea.
@@elizabethgarner3557 It can also be put on a timer at night when the temps dip or just kept on low through real cold spells
There is a ring of plastic on the plug so when it's pulled it keeps the wires from separating from the Cord. It saves on money and time replacing the fraid cord. : )))))
Chilly morning Jason Keep warm all of you at. Cog Hill Farm. Love your videos. Keep up the good work
❤️❤️❤️
Jason my doctor was praying for very cold weather, its says the sickness will disappear 💁♀️💁♀️ because up here in Michigan the hospitals were full of, covid, flu and rsv...stay healthy and warm...😊❤🙏🤞
People tend 2 stay home & away from others which keeps from spreading germs when its cold. I always refuse 2 go 2 my Dr in winter 4 my semi annual checkup. The waiting rooms is filled with coughing & germs. Hence my winter hibernation keeps the sickness away.
Each day is a day closer to spring ❤ Prayers this older person wears Yak Trax they go over footwear give traction on ice and snow. Excellent for not falling ❤
Prayers for your garden, even though it looks to be doing well. You'll really appreciate the normal temps, when this blows on out of here.
Everyone, be careful and stay warm!
Good day for a bowl of chili and a slice of hot cornbread!
Amen to that!!! 🙌❤️
Greg did an awesome job on the pond and it looks so beautiful with the fowl swimming in it. Glad you didn't fall on the ice and hope Brooke didn't hurt herself too bad when she slipped. CogHill family and Animals are wonderful 😊
I feel for what everyone in the south is going through with this polar vortex. Here in Minnesota we are always prepared for cold weather and get things in place in the fall. I hope you are back to warm weather soon. Meanwhile here in the frozen north we will carry on until April. 😊
❤️❤️❤️
That’s right Katie! When you live in a state that borders Canada you must prepare for winter like every day has a winter weather advisory! 😊
MN gal here also...stay safe and warm neighbors
@@GGunderson100 You too!✌🏼
My daughter and son in law lived in Minnesota for a few years, and they said even though we were use to cold winters and snow that Minnesota was a whole different beast! lol their first winter got so much snow in places you have rules about how high your allowed to pile it! They said some had to shovel off their roofs because of weight?! Good grief that’s amazing!
Being Canadian I love your reaction to the snow! Hope Brooke is ok from her fall.
Not only snow but the cold...It's a question of perspective. Stay warm.
Ice grippers for your shoes are great - they are adjustable & work so well.
Everything looking good. Stay warm & safe.
Be careful Jason and yaw stay warm! Hope Brook is still feeling better!❤
Please stay safe and warm Jason and Brook 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻❤❤❤
THIS has been a WILD experience, eh what? MAN, I have never felt 11F in my life!! We are melting now but the deep freeze has now made a slushy SLICK mess of everything. Wild. Stay safe and warn. Happy the babies are all protected because of your extraordinary care and love. Sadly, we had two sunny days and it never got above 26,
Good morning. Jason. It's 13° here in SE Kansas. You an Brook need to get those ice clets that you slip on your boots . You stay warm .Have a good day
Jason you put a smile on my face. You really need to get some ice cleats for your boots. I live in Michigan. We have over 2 feet of snow and it's still snowing, and 0° to 10° temps for at least a couple of weeks. One advantage to the snow is when we fall, the snow is soft and cushions our fall.
We don't stop for this weather. I put on a pair of jeans, a jacket and hop in my VW Beetle to drive through the snow. For us here in Michigan, it's just another day. But, we do have snow plows to mostly keep our roads somewhat clear.
You take care. I am keeping you and Brooke in my prayers. I am wondering if it's the magnesium in the well water that's helping her. ❤🙏
Oh, and I put on 17,000 steps in a day just shoveling snow!
We got 25 inches of snow where I live 15 degrees below zero with a 40 below wind chill and my furnace is out!! Thank goodness for space heaters!!!😂
Oh, Miss Kathy, take care of yourself and family. I’m sure you know this but a large pot of water on your stove heated up to boiling will retain the heat and radiate it for hours! I’m trying not to rub it in but I’m in California and we only got down to 50 something degrees last night. About a hour east of here there’s snow ❄️ enough in the Sierras for snowboarding 🏂. And some people are just crazy enough to drive that long just to slip and slide on the snow for fun!! Crazy I know! 😂. Hope your furnace gets fixed soon and the wind and cold let up soon!
Thank you miss Jamie
It’s freezing here in London Ontario Canada. You would think we would be used to it… but nope 🥶. Have a great day and stay warm!!
Oh wow! Yall stay safe and warm too
Thanks for sharing Jason...stay healthy and safe on the farm...glad Brooke and MC are better. Glad the well water is a blessing.
Glad you didn’t have any mishaps. Y’all stay warm. Animals are looking good.
Good 🥶 morning, from Venus, Texas. Yesterday I had a busted pipe under my house. I talked to my water company. They have workers who do side jobs. Two men came and fixed my busted pipe. Yesterday, here it was 12° felt like 0°. Loretta is smart, staying where it's warm. Prayers 🙏 for you all and the animals. 🥰👩🐕
So sorry you had to mess with broken pipes!! ❤
@evecamp, thank you so much. 😊
I’m close to you in Keene and it was soooo cold. Sorry about your busted pipe.
@carolwoolen9872 Thank you so much. Wow, you are close to Venus.
I'm not too far from you. Sorry about the busted pipe. This extreme weather is crazy!
Look how beautiful the trees are covered in ice with the sun shining on them. They look like diamonds.
Stay Warm Guys!!! I Love you All!!! God Bless Us All!!!
Jason you are a HOOT! All your animals will be just wonderful because you and Brooke do such a Fantastic job taking great care of them. Be very careful Jason. Do not want my favorite farmer in the Hospital with broken bones.
It just tickles my heart that you are so loving to put warm water in your pets food when it’s so cold outside, you are sweetheart❤️
My chickens are producing well this winter also . What a blessing they are ! 🐝♥️
Jason, I think the viewer who commented that you all need the boot spikes for icy weather is right. I have family in Canada and that's how they deal with icy weather.
Welcome to the mini ice age😂. Babies it’s cold outside. Stay safe, stay warm guys. Love ya.
Hi, it gives you totally respect for the Farmers and Ranchers out there❤
Jason, thank you for working so hard to make a good video to watch. It's cold here in Florida also.
AMEN!! But watching this I am Thankful I am in Tampa Fl Too COLD for Me!!
God bless y'all. Farming is a hard life.
I grew up on a farm, my Mother and Dad worked themselves so hard.
So glad Brooke is doing better. I pray she has a safe trip to Kentucky. If you think walking in that ice try driving in it. Many blessings to y'all.
❤❤🙏🙏❤❤🙏🙏❤🙏🙏
I'm so glad that Brooke is doing well and Jason be careful in this weather 🙏 ❤😊
Good job staying upright and not falling on the ice. Especially those steps to chicken house. You too Brooke!
Good morning, Jason. Be careful as you work in this taste of northern winter weather. Hopefully, by the end of the week, everyone will be back to their normal winter weather. 💖🙏💖
You guys stay safe warm enjoy watching all you doing as a family God bless you All many Prayers 🙏
I got so excited for you Jason when you lifted the frost cloth! Your videos make me feel like I'm right there with you! Keep up the great videos as always!
Good morning Cog family Jason enjoyed the video very much you Brooke and MaryCarl stay safe ❤🙏
Oh Jason, you never fail to make me laugh❤ We've been having below zero wind chill since last Friday so chores are indeed hard!! Gonna get up to 29 degrees today!! Think I'll sunbathe😂
I'll take the 2 ft. of snow here in Michigan over ice! Hate when we get freezing rain. Glad your garden will be okay! Hang in there, heard that next week things will be warming up. 🙂
We all walk like penguins when it freezes. Stay safe.
Good Morning guy’s hope everything is going well with you guys ❤
Going great and thank you….hope you have a wonderful morning 🌞
The weather challenges us to do our chores and keep animals safe. I live in the mountains of Colorado we now have 3 1/2 feet on the ground, temperature high yesterday of 22 and low-10 and guess what snowing again. But those of us with animals know how important it is to keep them provided good feed, water and shelter no mater where we live and the challenges in doing that. You are rocking it Jason!!
Have a wonderful and blessed day 💞
Good Morning Jason and Brooke!! ☕️ ❤✨️
1. The pond looks like a story just waiting to be written and illustrated by a certain young lady.
2. After two back surgeries, I'm so thankful you didn't fall. I hope you can get some of those stainless steel cleats that someone suggested.
3. You all are consistent inspiration to so many of us.
4. I'm praying for your family.❤️❤️❤️
Oh my goodness. I am so jealous. Just freezing cold here in Essex UK. -5C right now, but no snow or ice. Very strange. Bandit and Rocky will love your weather. Lester was worried about Sadie because he couldnt find her, but she was asleep in the woods and very happy. Her fur had some ice on it, but I can guarantee it didnt bother her lol. These breeds are meant for severe cold. Even Holly can deal with low temps to the extent that you are having. xxx
Sprinkle a little salt on the egg mobile steps. ❤️❤️❤️
We are in the panhandle of Florida and right now it's 11°and I refuse to get out from underneath the blankets.!!
Praying for all of you 🙏🏼🩸🕊️🙏🏼😇.
God bless you all and stay safe and warm.!
Hahaha.... here in Northern Canada.... we are still wearing Shorts and Sandals...at that temperature.
Us in the Panhandle get cold weather but not like we are having now. Stay warm fellow floridians
Looking at the pugs this morning brought back a memory of coming in and smelling something wonderful on the stove. Only to find out it wasn't for us. My mom in the winter would take all leftovers and cornmeal or oatmeal cook it up and the pigs got hot slop in the winter. I live in northern NY which is actually warmer than you are right now.
I love your mother! So right to be kind to the farm animals out in the brutal cold.
Not only walking your land is good exercise but you get to know your land better.
Jason… you need COLD WEATHER farm chores clothes!!😂❄️😂🌨️
I live in Northern Illinois. If you don't have salt for your cement , use Kitty litter. It's also handy to have in your car.
Oh Jason you're keeping it fun on this frigid morning out there singing and trying to keep from slipping on the ice,ice baby! Yes I like the idea of the tip jar , the critters can contribute with some loose change they find on The 40, just give Peaches her cut now that you mentioned it she will hold you to it. Before you know it this cold weather snap will be behind us, y'all hang in there !
Cold but the scenery looks pretty.
Jason, Brooke, and MaryCarl be safe and warm.🌻❤️❤️❤️👍🏻👍🏻
❤watching the video ❤
Good Day Jason & Brooke
❤️😀❤️😀❤️😀❤️😀❤️
Good morning! They call it Global Warming
Good morning!!!😃
In Louisville Kentucky we have had 6 days of freezing weather and still have 4 more to go, it’s going snow again Thursday night into Friday morning. Get some snow chains for Brookes tires if you can, if she’s in the truck put a lot of weight in the back so she can get good traction. I am a worrier, stay warm and safe. Get some salt for the icy parts. Much love to Cog Hill Family.
Hi...... Jason thanks you for showing your video homestead keep it up bye 👋 bye 👋 bye 👋 bye 👋👍👍👍👌👌👌
Good morning Cog Hill Farm and Cog Squad!! Not trying to rub it in but here in California we are getting to the 50’s at night and the 70’s during the day! 😮. But there are still some people crazy enough to drive, on purpose, about an hour from here, to the Sierra mountains to find snow and go snowboarding 🏂 and skiing 🎿. Crazy if you ask me. Praying for you, Brooke and MaryCarl to stay warm and safe and with your feet on the ground. lol. Also praying for you, Brooke, that your rheumatologist visit will be very soon and helpful. Stay safe, stay strong and stay happy!
Jason going up icy steps isn’t as bad as going down them so please be careful
Way tooooo cold!! Have a great day!! ❤
Never let the heat escape, even to show us your gorgeous greens.
Jason I am so glad you didn't fall. I hope Brooke is ok after her fall. Today will be the first day in 6 days that our temperature is above freezing.🥶 Last Thursday at 5:30 pm we were 53 degrees. By 7pm our temperature dropped to -2 with a wind-chill of -21! 😧🥶 It only got worse from there. Last night was the worst with a temperature of -4 and a wind-chill of - 35! 😳🥶 We were in negative temperature's until about 10 am this morning. We're currently 30 degrees with a wind-chill of 19 degrees.🥶 By 12 pm we will finally reach above freezing at 33 degrees. This weather has definitely been crazy! Our high will be 43 degrees but unfortunately we're going to go back down to the 20's until Monday of next week.🥶 Be safe! Much Love from our family to your family 💞
100s in the summer 9s in the winter. Some ain’t right lol
May the sun come out and you and Brooke be safe! Glad to see your animals are cosy and safe. Miss Peaches is such a sweet girl! Bye from a hot and sunny 🌞 South Africa!
Jason so glad you didn't fall , I'm a Minnesota girl and last winter I fell so hard I broke my foot and man I cried it hurt so bad and was in a boot for 8weeks or so it humbled me to ask for help when I worked . Thank God I had a job that was easy you see I work in a group home with adults with physical and mentally handicapped it's such a blessing to work with them . See you all soon much love . And also my friend has a dog that hurt her ankle from slipping on ice poor baby so keep an eye on your animals .
Happy Birthday, Brooke! It's January 19 and I hope you have an awesome day, and that you're feeling as strong and as truly special as we can all see you are. 🧡
Morning yall, my heart and prayers go out for yall and the animals!! I live in Az. so I feeling pretty guilty. Stay warm everyone
What a beautiful picture of the geese and ducks on the pond!😊❤ We started off with snow, then sleet, ice, and then 2 inches of snow. We're supposed to get more Thursday night and Friday. I am ready for SPRING!!
Where are you? You got battered,
Stay safe
Jason, remember last year when you did that test to see what the next year weather would be? I think Grandaddy told you, it's to do with a seed or something. Well it told you to expect snow 😅😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
U & Brooke should maybe use walkie-talkies to keep up with each others
Lot's of positives so glad Brooke didn't hurt herself when she fell and you stayed on your feet .awesome the gardens OK. And all the Animals and birds are safe and well .keep warm God Bless and prayers for a thaw ❤
