Jason, when I lived in Denver I had to walk my pups several times a day regardless of the weather. After several falls on icy roads I bought these stainless steel things you slip over your shoes. They grip into the ice. I never fell again. They were wonderful and saved me broken bones. They are not expensive. While you might only use once or twice a year, avoiding a broken hip or arm would be invaluable.
Yes.... There are Anti-slip > Winter Ice Cleats / Traction Grips / Spikes.... to strap on the bottom of your Shoes and Boots. ($15 - $20. - $35 ) > For you Southern folks.. that don't normally deal with ICE or snow. ( and those of us that do, all the time...haha) Many different brands: YakTrax / IceTrax / Due North / Sheefly.
Just thought about something: if you have some coarse salt, sprinkle some where it's too slippery, like those stairs. The ice will melt right off. In temps like we have here(- 30 to 40 C), it doesn't always work, but as high as your temps are there, it will work in minutes. Of course regular salt will work too, but it would take more. You'll be able to get those egg in safety
There is a ring of plastic on the plug so when it's pulled it keeps the wires from separating from the Cord. It saves on money and time replacing the fraid cord. : )))))
If we new a freeze was coming, as soon as the temperature dropped we would hose down all of our fruit trees so that a layer of ice would form on them!!! It works as an insulator to protect the trees from damage!!! We had apple trees, pear trees, peach trees, hickory & walnut & pecan trees, grapes, raspberries, strawberries, etc... All were protected without any damage for over 50 years!!! Most people don't think outside the box but it works every time!!! Love Y'all & God Bless!!!❤❤❤
Stay warm, I'll take the 70 degrees in 2 days they're, lol. The animal's look like they are doing great. Glad you didn't fall, that wiuld have been bad. Especially because Brooke did fall in her keister, ouch. Thanks for the video you'll
Prayers for your garden, even though it looks to be doing well. You'll really appreciate the normal temps, when this blows on out of here. Everyone, be careful and stay warm!
I live in Canada 🇨🇦 The trick to not slipping on Ice and Snow is to walk like a penguin. Imagine looking after animals in that for 4 months 😂. My sister in Calgary woke up to -50c the other day.
You need some of those spikes you put on your shoes. You did good to take on all that ice. We didn’t get that much over here in Tallassee, AL even though we’re just roughly 25 miles apart 😅. Have a great day and God bless y’all.
Each day is a day closer to spring ❤ Prayers this older person wears Yak Trax they go over footwear give traction on ice and snow. Excellent for not falling ❤
Jason, you are doing great trekking around in those frigid conditions. Might I suggest ice cleats on your boots and a multi tool in your pocket helps deal with doing chores in icey conditions.
Jason you are a HOOT! All your animals will be just wonderful because you and Brooke do such a Fantastic job taking great care of them. Be very careful Jason. Do not want my favorite farmer in the Hospital with broken bones.
God bless y'all. Farming is a hard life. I grew up on a farm, my Mother and Dad worked themselves so hard. So glad Brooke is doing better. I pray she has a safe trip to Kentucky. If you think walking in that ice try driving in it. Many blessings to y'all. ❤❤🙏🙏❤❤🙏🙏❤🙏🙏
Stay warm. Here in Orlando it is 60°. Was just at our house in NC and it was 28° and snow flurries and ice. Our gate latch froze and I had to use a flame flicker to defrost it when we left. Supposed to get down in the teens in the next few days up there. Just the few days we were there was enough for this Florida girl. ( I do have to say I played in the flurries though.)😆🥶😍❄️🌡️
Oh, Miss Kathy, take care of yourself and family. I’m sure you know this but a large pot of water on your stove heated up to boiling will retain the heat and radiate it for hours! I’m trying not to rub it in but I’m in California and we only got down to 50 something degrees last night. About a hour east of here there’s snow ❄️ enough in the Sierras for snowboarding 🏂. And some people are just crazy enough to drive that long just to slip and slide on the snow for fun!! Crazy I know! 😂. Hope your furnace gets fixed soon and the wind and cold let up soon!
When you guy's had this beautiful barn, it is such a wonderful touch for your animals, and I bet there loving it and staying warm in the wintertime!😊😊❤❤❤❤❤
I learned this from a nurse and every once in a while if I need to I practice it she wore a pair of sports socks over her shoes so she could go up and down the steps when she visit the client's home. When we back in the day had visitors and it snowed on us while you know the visitors, take a sheet and put it over the so they would not slip.😊
It's not glamorous, but growing up in Northern Michigan, I used to put a container of Morton's salt in my coat pocket. That way when I encountered ice on a surface I had to walk on, I could toss some salt in my path and it would melt the ice and provide some friction so I didn't fall. Worked well, not too expensive, and the container it comes in fits in a coat pocket. Stat safe.😊
You would think I would have come across that idea sometime in my over 70 years. Especially since I have lived all that time in NW Indiana right on Lake Michigan. Snow & lake effect snow, ice, zero temps....brrrrr!

They said some had to shovel off their roofs because of weight?! Good grief that’s amazing!
Jason, you make me laugh talking to Loretta knowing she can't hear a word you are saying...😆 Your videos always make me smile...I love your positive attitude. After tomorrow (Sat) we will warm up in central AL.
14 this morning in Georgia. Thankfully all is well pipe wise so far. I can't imagine what you have to go through with the animals. Laughed out loud about "can't put my arms down." So true. You need to get some of those cleats you can buy to put on your shoes to walk on ice. Pretty cool things.
Jason my doctor was praying for very cold weather, its says the sickness will disappear 💁♀️💁♀️ because up here in Michigan the hospitals were full of, covid, flu and rsv...stay healthy and warm...😊❤🙏🤞
People tend 2 stay home & away from others which keeps from spreading germs when its cold. I always refuse 2 go 2 my Dr in winter 4 my semi annual checkup. The waiting rooms is filled with coughing & germs. Hence my winter hibernation keeps the sickness away.
My well house had a heat lamp on a thermo switch. If the temp dropped below freezing, the heat lamp would come on. Never had a problem with it freezing
We are in the panhandle of Florida and right now it's 11°and I refuse to get out from underneath the blankets.!! Praying for all of you 🙏🏼🩸🕊️🙏🏼😇. God bless you all and stay safe and warm.!
What a beautiful picture of the geese and ducks on the pond!😊❤ We started off with snow, then sleet, ice, and then 2 inches of snow. We're supposed to get more Thursday night and Friday. I am ready for SPRING!!
I can almost smell that wonderful coffee you poured!!! Crazy winter all over the US! Was colder in Indiana than Alaska yesterday!! Ma Nature has lost it!!!! Stay safe, warm, and up on 2 feet!!! 🙏💕🙏
Good Morning All. Keeping everyone and Animals in my Prayers.Glad you all love your well. I love mine for last 54 years. Nothing like it and much better for you all.
THIS has been a WILD experience, eh what? MAN, I have never felt 11F in my life!! We are melting now but the deep freeze has now made a slushy SLICK mess of everything. Wild. Stay safe and warn. Happy the babies are all protected because of your extraordinary care and love. Sadly, we had two sunny days and it never got above 26,
Jason you put a smile on my face. You really need to get some ice cleats for your boots. I live in Michigan. We have over 2 feet of snow and it's still snowing, and 0° to 10° temps for at least a couple of weeks. One advantage to the snow is when we fall, the snow is soft and cushions our fall. We don't stop for this weather. I put on a pair of jeans, a jacket and hop in my VW Beetle to drive through the snow. For us here in Michigan, it's just another day. But, we do have snow plows to mostly keep our roads somewhat clear. You take care. I am keeping you and Brooke in my prayers. I am wondering if it's the magnesium in the well water that's helping her. ❤🙏 Oh, and I put on 17,000 steps in a day just shoveling snow!
Glad the animals are comfy. Thank you for sharing just how cold it is. Burrrrr !!!! Hang in there. 🙏❄️. Oh I remember 😊 Farming is is important !!!!! Cog Hill Farm is awesome. Hope Brooke and Mary Carl are feeling better 🌻🌻 such a great attitude Jason 👍
Jason I am so glad you didn't fall. I hope Brooke is ok after her fall. Today will be the first day in 6 days that our temperature is above freezing.🥶 Last Thursday at 5:30 pm we were 53 degrees. By 7pm our temperature dropped to -2 with a wind-chill of -21! 😧🥶 It only got worse from there. Last night was the worst with a temperature of -4 and a wind-chill of - 35! 😳🥶 We were in negative temperature's until about 10 am this morning. We're currently 30 degrees with a wind-chill of 19 degrees.🥶 By 12 pm we will finally reach above freezing at 33 degrees. This weather has definitely been crazy! Our high will be 43 degrees but unfortunately we're going to go back down to the 20's until Monday of next week.🥶 Be safe! Much Love from our family to your family 💞
Good Morning! It’s supposed to warm up here today and maybe all the ice will melt off it’s been getting warmer all night and we are at 31 F now when the sun comes up I wanted to get this comment in before your done reading!😊🕯️🧡💜🧡
I got so excited for you Jason when you lifted the frost cloth! Your videos make me feel like I'm right there with you! Keep up the great videos as always!
Happy Birthday, Brooke! It's January 19 and I hope you have an awesome day, and that you're feeling as strong and as truly special as we can all see you are. 🧡
Oh my goodness. I am so jealous. Just freezing cold here in Essex UK. -5C right now, but no snow or ice. Very strange. Bandit and Rocky will love your weather. Lester was worried about Sadie because he couldnt find her, but she was asleep in the woods and very happy. Her fur had some ice on it, but I can guarantee it didnt bother her lol. These breeds are meant for severe cold. Even Holly can deal with low temps to the extent that you are having. xxx
OMG it's 10 am and still -7 F, we got 10 inches of snow and I live in middle Tennessee 😳. Even the southern part of middle Tennessee. But I lived through the blizzard of 93. 😁.
So glad you didn't fall and all the animals are good. There must be some kind of shoes to keep you from falling, those with cleets on the bottom. To be safe and save falling. Take care..... love you all
The pond area is beautiful, and the ducks are enjoying it. Hopefully, it will get warmer and stay that way. Its hard on everyone - two and four legged. Stay upright and safe.
You both need to get some Yaktrax to stay on your feet. They work wonders! And not very expensive. I had both hips replaced since June but still have to walk the dog. I’m just north of NYC and we have ice in the ground. Can’t take any chances. I just have to figure out a way to get my newly rescued mini schnauzer to do his thing without walking forever. 😂
Good 🥶 morning, from Venus, Texas. Yesterday I had a busted pipe under my house. I talked to my water company. They have workers who do side jobs. Two men came and fixed my busted pipe. Yesterday, here it was 12° felt like 0°. Loretta is smart, staying where it's warm. Prayers 🙏 for you all and the animals. 🥰👩🐕
I'll take the 2 ft. of snow here in Michigan over ice! Hate when we get freezing rain. Glad your garden will be okay! Hang in there, heard that next week things will be warming up. 🙂
After dealing with 3 days of 4-12 degrees and hauling water for the chickens, I’m done with this mess of 6-8 inches of snow. Thankful it’s not ice, the ☀️ is out today and the power stayed on in Memphis 🙏 Hope everyone’s power stays on! 😊
YAK TRAX is how I get around in that/this kind of weather! They fit over the bottom of my boots and I do not slip or slide which is important. My chiropractor says that when we start to fall or slip, we jerk our body around to try to stay upright and those jerky moves are sometime worse than if we just went ahead and fell. When I was young my momma had a pair of shoes that she screwed screws down through the soles, kinda like cleats, to keep her from falling.
The weather challenges us to do our chores and keep animals safe. I live in the mountains of Colorado we now have 3 1/2 feet on the ground, temperature high yesterday of 22 and low-10 and guess what snowing again. But those of us with animals know how important it is to keep them provided good feed, water and shelter no mater where we live and the challenges in doing that. You are rocking it Jason!!
Good morning, Jason. Be careful as you work in this taste of northern winter weather. Hopefully, by the end of the week, everyone will be back to their normal winter weather. 💖🙏💖
Jason, when I lived in Denver I had to walk my pups several times a day regardless of the weather. After several falls on icy roads I bought these stainless steel things you slip over your shoes. That's great advice, thank you!

JASON…. Morgan @ GOLD SHAW FARM in VT does his farm chores in these cleats that slide over his farm boots.

My husband puts them on his boots when he goes ice fishing, and hiking they are wonderful....😊

Jason, I always appreciate your riotous laughter and jolly spirit. Thanks for being you!
Your Animals are living their best life in the Palacehotel „Cog Hill Barn“
Peaches definitely appears happier and more engaged since having access to the barn.
Cleats ( for the bottom of your shoes ) would be a great addition to your winter “ equipment “, Jason. 😊

It's not glamorous, but growing up in Northern Michigan, I used to put a container of Morton's salt in my coat pocket. Worked well, not too expensive, and the container it comes in fits in a coat pocket. Stat safe.😊

100s in the summer 9s in the winter. Some ain’t right lol
When it is freezing the mind gets cold and things are easy to forget.
Ice cleets for shoes, saved me many times on the ice!!! Thinking of everyone that has to go out in this cold weather. Stay warm and upright 😄
So glad you didn't fall and all the animals are good. There must be some kind of shoes to keep you from falling, those with cleets on the bottom. To be safe and save falling. Take care..... love you all
Jason and Brooke are two of the best people I know. You can always feel like you belong with them . Just wanted to say thank you and God bless you all
The pond area is beautiful, and the ducks are enjoying it. Hopefully, it will get warmer and stay that way. Its hard on everyone - two and four legged. Stay upright and safe.
I live in Northern Illinois. If you don't have salt for your cement , use Kitty litter. It's also handy to have in your car.
So sorry you had to mess with broken pipes!! ❤
@evecamp, thank you so much. 😊
I’m close to you in Keene and it was soooo cold. Sorry about your busted pipe.
@carolwoolen9872 Thank you so much. Wow, you are close to Venus.
I'm not too far from you. Sorry about the busted pipe. This extreme weather is crazy!
Maybe cleats and walking sticks would be useful in weather like this.
I'll take the 2 ft. of snow here in Michigan over ice! Hate when we get freezing rain. Glad your garden will be okay! Hang in there, heard that next week things will be warming up. 🙂
Yep that's how we feel pretty much the whole winter season here in the northern part of Ohio
Use a crock pot for their water dishes It is working well up here in Missouri and worked at -7 with a wind chill of -16
@@YAYA-bv7po I’ll try that thanks!
Using a crock pot for the water is a great idea.
@@elizabethgarner3557 It can also be put on a timer at night when the temps dip or just kept on low through real cold spells
All those precious animals know they are so loved. Great video.
Good morning, Jason. Be careful as you work in this taste of northern winter weather. Hopefully, by the end of the week, everyone will be back to their normal winter weather. 💖🙏💖
