Matt Holliday: 'There was nowhere I wanted to be but St. Louis'

New Cardinals Hall of Famer Matt Holliday recalls how the Busch Stadium crowd welcomed him in his St. Louis debut: "The realization that I had just played in St. Louis in front of that fanbase as a St. Louis Cardinal was something I'll always remember."
He adds after his first stint with the Cardinals, "there was nowhere I wanted to be but St. Louis."

I was so disappointed when Matt left Denver. He was 'the Rockies'! But I also understand that it was best that Matt become what he should be - a champion and the Cardinals were the best.

He was 7 in 2011 when his dad won the WS here. Can you imagine your dad being a part of that historic run?
Now that obviously doesn’t mean that we automatically get him at some point lol but I have to imagine that he dreamed of playing for the Cardinals as a kid.

I remember buying a pair of Green seats row B seats 1 & 2 dead center behind Yadi to watch Holliday's 1st home game. He had a double and nearly tripped over 2nd base. It was awesome....
I always remember watching him as a Rockie, saying damn I wish we'd trade for him. I mean we've gotten some nice player from Colorado.... Holliday, Aeranado (even though Holliday went to Oakland for a short time)
