One day here in cold Finland, I decided I'm gonna watch a full baseball game at random from TH-cam and see what it's all about. First game was some regular season game where the Giants beat the Dodgers. It wasn't a great game but still somehow attracting. I watched another one and this time I deliberately chose 2014 World Series game 7. "This is a goddamn exciting game to watch", I thought. Even though nothing that much happened in that game 7. Finally googling "greatest MLB games in history" brought me to watch Rangers-Cardinals Game 6. A grown man developed an fandom feeling from other side of Atlantic, because of a game played over 5 years ago and without any cultural roots to this game other than my own country's variant of baseball. Been a baseball-aficionado ever since.
At the start of the broadcast, Joe Buck and Tim McCarver talk about how in the 80s Jack Buck made a call after a walk off hr that all he said was well see you tomorrow night. Find it funny that is what Joe picked to say after the home run in the 11th
The best part for me is the sound of the crack of the bat, then about a half second delay until the fans realize what just happened and the roar is deafening. Love it.
@ethancossey600 The trivia question of the game was "How many times has World Series Game 6 ended with a home run?" McCarver said, "I remember one, working with your dad in '91. Kirby Puckett, and your dad's famous call was just "We'll see you tomorrow night." " Literal chills when the baseball gods gave Joe the green light to drop that line again just a couple hours later, and Joe crushed it into the upper deck. The perfect call.

Had been a Cardinal fan since 1960. Was at my cottage in Northern Ontario, Canada, and was able to pull in a weak radio signal. With the lights out, and through the static, I listened as the Cards somehow managed to stay alive, down to their last strike twice, and then David Freese came to the plate. Just incredible. The greatest game ever. Great post.
His game against Carpenter in 2011 will always be remembered as one of the best 2 pitcher performances of the generation. We don’t realize greatness like that until its too late.

I don't know how I can experience the same emotions every time I see one of those critical moments but they always hit me exactly the same. The freese triple, the hamilton dinger, the berkman bloop, we will see you tomorrow night. They never change. They never will. Thanks for the memories boys.
My most respected baseball warriors,. Ny , NoCal, SoCal , My bros to the north.. yeah you Cubbies, andsome ofthe best baseball fans in that New England area.... None of you will experience the joy of this season. This was baseball heaven, from the grimness of opening day, to knowing our hero, our guy, El hombre, would leave afterwards...... So hard to explain, so many emotions.... For me... Unforgettable
I was there with my brother. We walked outside to smoke after the Hamilton homer. We thought that was game/season. Came back to our 13th row seats to see Lance save us. Long story short, the energy in that stadium, prior during and after Freese. Un real. He went to Lafayette HS btw. 20 mins from me. He is a legend.
As a Cardinals fan, I remember watching this game while working on a high school science project I had due the next morning. When Josh Hamilton hit that go-ahead HR in the 10th I almost turned off the tv because I thought there was absolutely no way they could pull off another 2 run comeback late in the game. Boy was I glad that I stuck with it because I got to witness the greatest ending to a baseball game I've ever seen.
The Texas Fox affiliate also sent out texts that the Rangers won the World Series when Freeze was still up to bat in the 9th! I am so glad I stayed up to watch this whole game!
There absolutely needs to be a documentary or book on Sept. 28, 2011 - the last day of the regular season, when so much craziness happened in baseball.
As a die hard cardinals fan, I disagree. I would put this series top 10 of all time but nowhere near best. I really feel bad for the rangers tho. They deserved at least one ring with that fire squad that they had. But I’m not complaining I’m very happy we won with all that trouble in the regular season.
As a Rangers fan, this is tough to watch even after all these years. The Rangers franchise still hasn’t recovered from this game to this date, but I hope one day we do. Congrats to the Cards.
A few moments that desevres a rewinder: 1.John Terry's slip in 2008 champions league final 2.Man Utd comeback against Bayern Munich in 1999 champions league final 3.Lebron's block on Iguodala in 2016 NBA finals game 7 4.Chris Jenkins's winner shot in 2016 NCAA championship game
being a lifelong diehard cardinals fan this game and this series will always forever be in my heart my father passed away 4 years after this and nothing will beat the feeling i got with my father in my underwear jumping and screaming after this this city and this team will always run through my blood and my veins
This was the last Cardinals world series my father and I watched together before he passed away. The whole season was magic, I told him early in the season when it looked like a disaster that we're going to make this year. Didn't believe me but boy was he happy. There was only a few times I ever saw that grumpy old man happier and I'm damn glad Freese hit that home run.
Texas was one strike away from victory, twice. One of the most painful moments in pro sports history along with the epic choke/comeback in SB51. And I’m not a Texas Rangers or Atlanta Falcons fan either.
I believe it was decidedly ecstatic and not painful in any way. One of the, if not the, greatest comebacks in baseball history. The stuff movies are made from.
@Jake True, but the difference with 2013 NBA Finals Game 6 is that at least the Spurs had multiple championships with the same coach to fall back on (not to mention getting revenge the next year). The Rangers and Falcons were both within centimeters of their first title, which definitely makes those two more brutal to watch.
More like Carpenters Game 5 CG Shutout against friend Roy DOC Haladay. Did I mention the Phillies has the best record and it was an elimination game too.
That season wil never be topped, not just as a Cards fan but the end of the regular season too. Injuries, trades, pitching woes. For the Cards, they had the Brewers acting out like crazy, Braun was on PEDs during that year, Nyjer was being absolutely bafoonish, a lot of bad blood with them the whole year. Fans on forums and Facebook giving the Cards all kinds of hell. No one gave them a chance to even make it to the playoffs, especially Braves fans. I never thought it was possible. To have that run and to see the Braves choke all the way to the last day... had me flipping out, that was the start. Then to face the insanity that was the Phillies pitching staff, the shutout by Carpenter, that was nail biting as it gets in game 5. Had to face the Brewers who the Cards were heated rivals to say the least, and then to just whoop em was so satisfying. No one gave em a chance at all to beat Texas. Game 6 was like the culmination of all the hurdles they had to jump over, the whole season was like it was personified in Game 6. Game 7 came and they finally got it done. Even now, the Cards have missed the playoffs for three straight years, the Cubs have won it all, and all that has been bad... I still find it hard to complain because 2011... will never be topped.
MLB has a decent play-by-play video of it on their channel, but no narration to explain the stakes each team has that night. Seriously, the best regular season night in baseball history. I'm glad I was glued to my TV that night to take it all in live.
As a St. Louis fan. This video is just awesome. You forget just how much we had to overcome that season. I’ll never forget what that team did that year for the rest of my life.
Listening to Buck’s call on the walk-off, it sounds like he got choked up when he said “tomorrow night”, paying homage to his dad’s call back in the 1991 World Series.
...Now that was a Great! presentation. Thank you Brother. I lived it, right outside of the stadium standing next to my bicycle. Swear to God, I Knew we were not going to lose. I knew it sure as I knew the Sun was gonna rise the next day. 4 WS appearances in 9 yrs. Thank you, you did a fantastic job!....
“We will see you tomorrow night” LEGENDARY CALL I remember staying up and listening to this game on the radio and it gave me chills. Thank you for this video
As a die hard Texas Rangers fan, this still tears my heart in two just watching that triple and that home run, even without going over the magnitude of everything to get there. i remember listening to the call on the radio, and i still get goosebumps from this game. one of the best series i've experienced.
jsantny I also listened on the radio I remember it was late at night and I was in a mall parking lot such a clear memory from 8 years ago
As a rangers fan living in Missouri I’ll never forgive this man
Lol
The deep pain of a Rangers fan...
Feel this. I almost cried watching
This was too cruel for words.
It mustve hurt seeing the Astros win it all when y'all were so close at one time.
You have no clue. 1 strike away twice, and still nothing to show for it. I shall never ever stop hating Freese
Who here’s after he retired
Great job on this. I am convinced that watching this game took years off my life. Such a roller coaster.
Brandon Crouch me anytime I was a spurs game
I swear pop does it on purpose
Thanks for refreshing my memory. Great piece of work here. Reminds me why I'm a Cardinals fan
I don't know how I can experience the same emotions every time I see one of those critical moments but they always hit me exactly the same. The freese triple, the hamilton dinger, the berkman bloop, we will see you tomorrow night. They never change. They never will. Thanks for the memories boys.
Best video I’ve ever seen. Yes I am a cardinals fan, live in St. Louis.
I wished the 2014 Cardinals won the Pennant. I wanted to see another Cardinals Royals I-70 Rematch!
*Allen Craig
As a Cardinals fan, I remember watching this game while working on a high school science project I had due the next morning. When Josh Hamilton hit that go-ahead HR in the 10th I almost turned off the tv because I thought there was absolutely no way they could pull off another 2 run comeback late in the game. Boy was I glad that I stuck with it because I got to witness the greatest ending to a baseball game I've ever seen.
You should do "the creation of SB nation deserves a deep rewind"
They should do a deep rewind about Jon Bois, I think it would be pretty good
Fred Frederickson Well done.

Cards have historically done better in WS when behind, for my money, Best come back .
in series history. Well made video, thanks.
Well, not this time, huh.
-2019
As a die hard cardinals fan, I disagree. I would put this series top 10 of all time but nowhere near best. I really feel bad for the rangers tho. They deserved at least one ring with that fire squad that they had. But I’m not complaining I’m very happy we won with all that trouble in the regular season.
As a Sox fan, I beg to differ ;)
They have lost more series when up 3-1 than any other team (including NLCS)
Then you haven’t watched STL in the WS much.
The 2019 St. Louis Blues needs a deep rewind.
May the ghosts of 2011 be forever erased
As a Rangers fan, this is tough to watch even after all these years. The Rangers franchise still hasn’t recovered from this game to this date, but I hope one day we do. Congrats to the Cards.
It was gut wrenching. Hopefully they can figure it out and get back in the next five-ten years.
They made it back! 3 wins away from the title
A few moments that desevres a rewinder:
1.John Terry's slip in 2008 champions league final
2.Man Utd comeback against Bayern Munich in 1999 champions league final
3.Lebron's block on Iguodala in 2016 NBA finals game 7
4.Chris Jenkins's winner shot in 2016 NCAA championship game
"And the Legend GROWS" > "We will see you tomorrow night"
Freese is still super clutch. I'm a Sox fan but when the postseason started last year he was huge for the Dodgers.
This hurts me so much as a rangers fan
It's going to hurt for a very, VERY long time.
Right? Freese was just as dirty in Game 7, that was two back to back chokes to end the Series.
Good
Yee that year I watched almost every game till the WS still awesome year no matter what!
being a lifelong diehard cardinals fan this game and this series will always forever be in my heart my father passed away 4 years after this and nothing will beat the feeling i got with my father in my underwear jumping and screaming after this this city and this team will always run through my blood and my veins
I saw this game in my barracks after work. THE. BEST. Game of baseball i ever watched in highlights or otherwise. Intense as it ever gets.
I’ve gotta say as a rangers fan this may be the most painful moment in our history
Caroenter's CG shutout on the last day was clutch...Braves meltdown was not...funny how the stars aligned. Great video!
Bring back the old music from season 1!
YOU GUYS BROUGHT IT BACK!!! The music at 14:44 is why I follow this channel. You should release that music.
Little Black Bags should be a requirement for this series
Beef history- Isaiah Thomas vs Jordan & Magic Johnson
Kobe vs Raja Bell
Tonya Harding vs Nancy Kerrigan
What y’all think?
They’d blow ‘Tonya’ out of the water
I think we don't need even more NBA content. This channel has basically become entirely basketball. Let us enjoy our MLB stories in the offseason.
Tanya would be interesting
Irie Harris I agree with magic and Isaiah specifically
I already knew most of what you showed us, but that didn't stop me from getting goosebumps. This is one of those top-shelf sports' story.
Would love to see a Rewinder all about game 162 in 2011, with Longoria's walk off being the focus
MLB has a decent play-by-play video of it on their channel, but no narration to explain the stakes each team has that night. Seriously, the best regular season night in baseball history. I'm glad I was glued to my TV that night to take it all in live.
@@hardyworld it's one of my favorite memories as a Tampa Bay sports fan.
As a St. Louis fan. This video is just awesome. You forget just how much we had to overcome that season. I’ll never forget what that team did that year for the rest of my life.
This gives me chills, I remember watching this as an 11 year old kid and running around the house celebrating
Here we are. As a Rangers fan, I dreaded that this day would come
Berkman had crucial at bats to setup both Freese moments. Great series! Go Cards!!
Here to prepare myself to get my heart broken by Game 7 tonight. Hopefully this doesn't age well
It didn’t but that’s okay, celebrate, we are champs in 2023!!!
@@SinaSoh damn straight!!!!
I cry thinking about this frequently (tears of joy of course)
Listening to Buck’s call on the walk-off, it sounds like he got choked up when he said “tomorrow night”, paying homage to his dad’s call back in the 1991 World Series.
20 years almost to the date when Joe made that call
This is the Blues 2011 season, Let's go Blues!!!!
4:32 "Lowe being in such a HIGH leverage situation..."
i see whatchya did there
...Now that was a Great! presentation.
“We will see you tomorrow night”
LEGENDARY CALL
I remember staying up and listening to this game on the radio and it gave me chills. Thank you for this video
so awesome that this is in my recommended now that he’s retiring. what a great career, dave
Props to whoever made this. This was REALLY well made- ya did great painting the fantastical season of the 2011 Cards
Thank you for helping me relive one of the greatest ball games I ever had the pleasure to watch.
As a die hard Texas Rangers fan, this still tears my heart in two just watching that triple and that home run, even without going over the magnitude of everything to get there. I was so mad when I saw that ball clear the fence. Now that I've gotten that out of my system, PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF ALL GREAT STORIES, do Alec Martinez's 2014 Stanley Cup winning goal.
One of the tensest, most entertaining baseball games ever played.
We had no right winning that game, let alone that series, and Freese saved us twice. Im still getting chills
