I think this is a great cover, it features Steve Martin on second banjo, Albert Lee, Vince Gill, and Randy Scruggs on guitars, Marty Stuart on mandolin, Jerry Douglas on dobro, Leon Russell on organ, Gary Scruggs on harmonica, and Paul Shaffer on piano.
@@SaeedReacts., it is just possible that you half-recognize Vince Gill as having been a part of the soft-rock/country group Pure Prairie League and, I should think, rather more possible that you vaguely recognize Jerry Douglas as the co-host, with Aly Bain, of the BBC's / RTE's Transatlantic Sessions. (And for those wondering what the hell a dobro is, that's the trade name of the steel resonator / slide guitar invented by the Dopjera Brothers to stand up to the Big Band sound of jazz and swing from the '20s through the '40s.)
Earl Scruggs used to play with the duo of Flat (Lester) and Scruggs. They first recorded the theme "The Ballad of Jed Clampett" of the TV show "Beverly Hillbillies."
The amount of sheer talent in that room is amazing, and they're all there to pay tribute to the King of the Banjo. The bookcases behind you don't have enough room for all their awards.
Earl Scruggs is an innovator of a new stile of banjo picking. He was born and raised about 5 miles from where I live. Very famous North Carolina son. Vince Gill is playing the electric guitar and Leon Russell is os the keyboard. Thanks for the great reaction!
The grey beard playing the organ was the late, great Leon Russell. ❤ Steve Martin's banjo playing goes way back. I remember him doing stand-up in the late 60s with a fake arrow thru his head and a banjo. He would play little banjo riffs between jokes. What a Wild and Crazy guy! 😂
He was the opening act for a concert I went to back in the day (don't actually remember what band it was), but I remember Steve with the arrow & the banjo. He was hilarious.
Even if you're not interested or don't like that type of music very much, you can't help but appreciate the artistry of the instrumentalist. They are just so amazing! I learned how to play the fiddle and the fiddle playing in this was phenomenal. As they all were phenomenal.
It is my first time seeing this video. Thank you so much for presenting it. This music is simply fun. You smile when you hear it, your foot taps keeping the beat. And all these popular musicians doing their thing just makes it that much happier to watch. Great stuff.
Earl wrote this back in the days when his partner, Lester Flatt and him were a duo. They were a great duo and helped promote an appreciation for Blue Grass.
Earl made the banjo what it is. He created that fast paced, three finger picking style. Steve Martin used the Banjo in his stand up routine back in the day. He's one of the best now days on that banjo. All greats on their chosen instrument.
The Earl Scruggs banjo was made by Gibson. They haven't made banjos since 2010 when the factory was destroyed by a flood on the Cumberland River. A Scruggs banjo is about $5000 if you want one.
Hey Saeed, I also see Marty Stuart, Vince Gill, Leon Russel, Randy Scruggs among the ones you already stated! Jerry Douglas and Gary Scruggs are part of this group too! Great reaction to this awesome instrumental!
Lets not forget the banjo legend himself Early Scruggs sitting in the middle, him and Lester Flatt played the theme and other bits on the old Beverly Hillbillies comedy
Bluegrass is a strictly American musical invention, characterized by technically complex acoustic instrumental solos. Bluegrass refers to a type of grass that's common in Kentucky. This style of banjo picking was invented by Earl Scruggs, the old man leading this group. This song is his composition, and was made famous as the theme song of the movie Bonnie & Clyde in 1968. There were other styles before him. Bluegrass arose from Appalachian folk music in the 1940's with several groups, and has had a real revival lately, with new stars like Billy Strings and Molly Tuttle. All bluegrass players have to be phenomenal instrumentalists to make it in that world.
Great reaction, man. This should answer some of your questions: Electric Guitar: Albert Lee, Vince Gill Acoustic Guitar: Randy Scruggs Dobro: Jerry Douglas Banjo: Steve Martin, Earl Scruggs Mandolin: Marty Stuart Bass: Glenn Worf Drums: Harry Stinson Harmonica: Gary Scruggs Piano: Paul Shaffer Organ: Leon Russell Recorder: Ron Reynolds Mixer: Ron Reynolds Additional Engineer: Todd Parker
The guy on the drum is Harry Stinson. He is a member of Marty Stewart's (mandolin here) band The Fabulous Superlatives. Harry's session work is massive. I've seen his name on over 500 albums.🤘😎❤
Earl was the king of the banjo, his friends all very celebrated musicians. One of the coolest collaborations in any type of music.I won't list all the names,as others already have. Thanks for this one.
This bluegrass music "Foggy Moutain Breakdown" was very famously featured in the 1967 blockbuster movie "Bonnie and Clyde" Starring Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway as real life Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow and their crime gang. The movie is based on true stories about the couple's bank robbing crime spree in middle America in the 1930s Depression years. This music was played as backup for their daring police chases. In the movie they were made folk heroes, but the end the law caught up with them and used machine guns to shoot them and their car to pieces to end their crime spree. That car still exists. This video has chase scenes with Foggy Mountain Breakdown in it. th-cam.com/video/3YXCjPgktQM/w-d-xo.html Ending:
Yeah, I was surprised by Steve Martin the first time I saw this video when it came out. Then a few years back I was traveling in a plane and plugged in my headphones and they were playing his new bluegrass album he had just released. Good stuff.
🎸❤️🎸Mr. Saeed ... you should know all these gifted musicians. These men are killing it !! .. You should react to some of these guys .. Marty Stewart - great Country Music star , Vince Gill , I think you know him. I believe you reacted to "How Great Thou Art" with Carrie Underwood on vocals & Vince Gill on guitar and harmony vocals , Paul Schaefer you got right - he has played and recorded with many of the greats ( he is hilarious in the official music video of "Hook" by The Blues Travelers ) and the legendary guitarist, Albert Lee ( the guy with the grey curly hair ) absolute genius on the guitar .. This is so cool And of course , Earl Scruggs and his family .. Earl is Hall Of Fame forever , just amazing. This put me in a good mood, thank you !
You did a reaction recently of Vince Gill & Carrie Underwood singing "Amazing Grace." He's also well known for "Go Rest High on That Mountain." Great musician!
Thanks for taking the time to share the names of the artists. Much appreciated.
Harry Stinson drummer for Marty Stuart on drums
I believe it’s Glenn Duncan on fiddle, if not it’s Stuart Duncan can’t remember which

Yep, that's where/when I first remember him from! 😊
This makes me smile every time I see it, and ive seen it MANY times, they were having a great, great time-!!!!
That is a truly fearsome group of players, every one of those guys is a monster.
A bluegrass standard and classic written by Earl Scruggs, one of the fathers of bluegrass.
Vince Gill is not only considered one of the best guitar players in country music but he can also sing so beautifully.
The amount of sheer talent in that room is amazing, and they're all there to pay tribute to the King of the Banjo. The bookcases behind you don't have enough room for all their awards.

Lots of living legends in that room.
Steve Martin actually has a grammy for his bluegrass pickin'.
Earl wrote this back in the days when his partner, Lester Flatt and him were a duo. They were a great duo and helped promote an appreciation for Blue Grass.
You can see how much fun they are having playing with other master musicians.
Great to see England's greatest guitar player, Albert Lee, holding his own with the elite of country.

I live in Nashville; the 2010 flood was epic. It was same weekend as the Times Square bombing, so it got little news coverage.

Another heart to add to my collection, thank you so much, they mean quite a bit to me!

All fabulous musicians...and a great song presentation. I met Earl Scruggs at the fiddlers convention in Galax VA in the 70s
The amount of talent on stage here is off the charts!
Yes Steve can pick the #$%& out of a banjo!!!

Back when music was the main event, free of egos.

Eric Clapton has named Albert Lee(on red electric here) his favorite guitar player! High praise indeed.
I've seen a documentary where he says Jeff Beck, but he also mentioned Alvin, Chet and Les Paul.
Martin Short once said that "traveling with Steve Martin is like the movie Deliverance, it seems like fun until the banjo shows up" : )
Steve Martin doesn't just play the banjo, he organizes and (if I remember correctly) actually FUNDS banjo competitions.
Not only is Earl the king of bluegrass banjo, he could also have given just about anybody a run for their money on guitar as well.
Lester Flatt and Earl Scruggs used to be featured on Beverly Hillbillies and would often play this song.
And yes .. Mr. Steve Martin just slaying the banjo . Yeppp .. he is not just anybody, he is a Grammy Award winning banjo player !!!
One of the tunes we played on our “walkmans” when we skied it really got you moving
Earl Scruggs is the master of finger pickin' banjo... no one does it better...
A literal who's who of country musicians playing with Earl!
You could check out Steve Martin's band, Steep Mountain Rangers
Steve Martin used to play his banjo on Saturday Night Live decades ago, lol.
Yeah, I was surprised by Steve Martin the first time I saw this video when it came out. Then a few years back I was traveling in a plane and plugged in my headphones and they were playing his new bluegrass album he had just released. Good stuff.
At 1:50 is Steve Martin.. comedian , actor , and every thing else. That guy is awesome

Chase scene from the movie " Bonnie and Clyde"
foggy mt. breakdown was music in the movie Bonnie and Clyde
"He even had his own line of banjos". Lol bro, it's Earl Scruggs.
Hello, Steve Martin was a regular on " The RayStevens Show ".
I'm either going to break out the banjo or binge watch the Beverly Hillbillies to find the episodes with Flatts & Scruggs.
Steve has his own Bluegrass band called the Steep Canyon Rangers.
Earl originally did this with Lester Flatt and not these "friends",from t he movie Bonny and Clyde.
Super group 🎉
Two other great banjo folks would be Howard Caine -(SS Major Hochstetter of Hogans Heros) and Willow Osborne(daughter of Ozzy)
❤ it!
Some real legends here..!
They were kickin' ass.
100%
If you go back to the old Saturday Night Live you'll find Steve Martin with his banjo
Harry Stinson is the drummer.
Although knowing you are a movie buff, if you haven't seen the film Deliverance, Dueling Banjos is a great picking piece as well. Thanks for this...
I know this from Bonnie and Clyde. Later I learned much more about bluegrass. Fantastic video, Saeed.
This is frig n awesome
I see Leon Russell and I am in 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Earl Scruggs was Eddie Van Halen way before there ever was an Eddie Van Halen.
I don't know if there's another video out there that has a greater collection of musical talent.
When you have a chance you should check out Steve Martin - Pretty Little One, great song
American music😎
It breaks my heart that you don’t know who these musicians are.
Only Murders In The Building is a great show
I only wish Ricky Skaggs was on this.
Looks like the pick of the pickers.
Flats and Scruggs is awesome!!! Prefer the original version though.
Youve got a TON of sibilance in your audio man - (sssss)
Lol, did you miss the lyrics?
