He said, don't walk to the 7-11 alone, that was 30+ years ago. I feel no need to return. ( had a job driving a tow truck, meet the best of ppl)

    It's turned into a badly mismanaged crime infested shithole.

      It's not just Winnipeg and not just in Canada. Jacques Attali said - all the big cities of the world are waiting for bad luck.

    • @zanzibarandgrill6484
      @zanzibarandgrill6484 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@WinnipegChannel I think they actually planned for bad luck. Winnipeg allowed unrestricted suburban mall building in the 70s that destroyed the downtown retail landscape and then when that became clear they said...'let's build another mall downtown' which was doomed to fail and is now little more than a druggie daycare centre. Meanwhile they paid all the unions way over private sector wages and benefits and let infrastructure go to shite. Then to make ends meet they made the tax rates uncompetitive compared to areas just outside the perimeter and people with money moved out.

      @@zanzibarandgrill6484 Very true, and it has a lot to due with the trend of cities mostly consisting of single family detached suburbs and designed for cars as the sole form of transport. It's just too much space and resources required for the least dense form of city planning. A lot of cities in the US and Canada may be going bankrupt because of this.
