I've got an SX4. It's a bit higher than say a Spirit of the era but looks fine honestly. I'd love to slam it down but the front won't let me do it.
Two things I want to correct you on, First the Cadillac Cimarron, you showed the engine of a 2.8 which was a 6 cylinder and not a 4 cylinder. Secondly you showed a 1982 Pontiac Firebird, and stated that it came with a 4 cylinder which is also wrong, the smallest engine in this car was that same GM 2.8l 6 cylinder engine.
I can see arguments for most of these (not that I necessarily agree) but the Firebird being on this list is just plain wrong. There are also some factual errors in here, like showing the Datsun 210 when talking about the F10, which was completely different. You also mostly talked about the Eagle wagon but showed more of the hatchback.

A buddy took a new Yugo for a test drive since it was inexpensive, and we were in the US military, and couldn't afford much. He thumbed his nose up at my 12-year-old used Pontiac Lemans which got me around for many years problem free. On his test drive, the passenger side mirror fell off as he pulled out of the dealership and something from under the dash [Part of the heater] fell out on his foot. He tried to reverse back into the dealership, but it wouldn't go into reverse. He parked it on the street and returned the keys. We left and he never thumbed his nose at my car again.

The car in the thumbnail is actually kind of sexy for its size. Not saying I'd want to drive it today. It's not very stylish by today's standards. Given the cars of that era, it's not bad looking.
1n 1982 I bought a very basic Renault Alliance, it got 53 mpg , ok I needed to be Fred Flintstone on the hills. It had all the basics two windows that cranked up and down, no A/C. It was Dark blue so the pleather seats got very hot in the summer. BUT, it only cost a little over $8,000. My choice was a used car with someone else's problems or a new car. It wasn't a sports car, but it was my first new car.😊
Your no. 1 were complete different cars, inbetween B-210 and B-310 line up. Even these cars are technical complete different. Some are even from the Seventies. The car you talk about seems to be the B-210 from 1980, aka. Sunny. The pics. you shown are mostly from older seventies models, even the B-310, aka,. Cherry F-II and Pulsar-models. Even the Pulsar was here in Europe a Cherry variant. A mixture of cars they are even different in size and technical features.
It barely meets the criteria because 1980 was it's last production year, but the Ferrari Dino 308 GT4 2+2 was even worse than the Mondial. I never thought of the Mondial as ugly, but for a Ferrari... yeah, pretty lackluster. Plus they badged it a Dino, and the original Dino 246 GT was a proper sports car and one of the best looking classic Ferraris out there. It's like when they brought back the Chevrolet Nova as an econo-box, which also happened in the 80s. I think the Subaru XT's biggest problem was the Honda Prelude. I'm biased because I had an 88 Prelude, but it was one of the best looking cars of the 80s. I think the Subaru looked too much like an uninspiring attempt at a Prelude that went in poorly conceived directions to try and differentiate it. It's like they started with the nose of the Honda, then just drew a bunch of straight lines with a ruler to finish it off and called it good. I had a friend that worked at a Subaru dealership that carried new Yugos for no more than a couple months. He said they had to cannibalize half the cars that came in just to get the other half to work. He said about 1 in 4 came without the pipe that links the gas tank to the filler cap. He ruined a good pair of shoes finding that out the hard way. The cars ended up being a money sink on warranty repairs and the dealership dropped them because they were costing more money than they made off them. I don't remember why a Subaru dealership was selling Yugos, but it had to have hit their reputation. The Reliant Robin wasn't sold in the United States, but that would be my pick for the ugliest car of the 80s. It's another stretch because most of it's production was in the 70s, but they were produced in 1980 and 81. You don't need a degree in Newtonian Physics to see how unstable a 3 wheeled car with one front wheel would be. Top Gear mercilessly mocked it even decades later. You can find the episode on TH-cam. Jeremy Clarkson spends about half the video trying to roll it back on it's wheels multiple times.
The idea of the K car was the same that Chrysler employed in the mid 40s thru '53, the 3 box design. Maximum room for its size, maximum serviceability, lowest cost possible. Still, it's amazing how many different cars they managed to spin off that original platform.
I had a multi color Datsun 210 wagon, rattle can primer and a set of slots borrowed from a mustang 2 wrapped up in some white letter Cooper Cobras and it literally got more attention than my 64 chevelle
NYC cops actually used K cars as 'Police Patrollers' for about 4 yrs. Can you imagine a cop with all his gear wedged into that thing? Nevermind trying to get a perp into the back seat. When I worked for the DOE, there were a couple K's still being used for 'security detail'...

I have a black '83 Firebird T/A H.O. and it's one of my favorite sports cars of it's time, there's nothing wrong about the third gen firebird except for it's first year. now '82 was a very terrible year for the Trans Am, they were trying to fix some things for the '83 model year Firebird T/A such as having a more fuel efficient 305 V8, The '84 model year Firebird T/A was or is by far the most successful year for the third gen Firebird T/A, my dad had a white '84 T/A a long time ago before my brother trade it in for a crappy gray unreliable and ugly '92 Mitsubishi Montero that ran for 15 minutes.
They had their own. Ahem. Style. I personally don't knock any of them. It's amazing how a two door eagle draws a bigger crowd than any corvette. It's different and that goes a long way.
You said snail but you didn't allude the name S-Cargo sounding just like Escargot. I thought the idea behind the Eagle was awesome; a Subaru before it's time? American Motors was never exactly known for aesthetics.
Thanks for catching the wordplay with "snail" and "Escargot"! The Eagle was definitely ahead of its time, and American Motors had its own unique style for sure.
I never trust a channel who's thumbnail does not represent its content. Why is there such an obviously beautiful car on your thumbnail? And then to top my annoyance you include the Datsun F10. Now I agree about the saloon version. The rear end of that was just WRONG! I agree totally about the saloon, but my second car was the coupe version. I thought it was one of the most beautifull streamlined little cars on the market. Hatchbacks were relatively new in those days, it was so practical, and another thing it had which many cars of the day did not have in the UK, it had cosiness. You felt so comfortable and protected inside, and even though it was a very small car the seating position made the bonnet look long. I do miss seeing a bonnet up front on modern cars. Also, you show photos of other cars during that section on the F10. You show the gorgeous B210 and others.
How can you state a Pontiac Firebird was ugly? Not even. A few of these cars are ugly. But most are not. Who ever made these decisions needs to stop smokin' weed or stop drinking!!! Oh yea..just a clickbait title.

The Chrysler K car was a successful failure 2 reasons 1 it brought America to 6 passenger front wheel drive sedan's because GM s Citation was a problem from start and Ford wouldn't have a front wheel drive sedan until the Taurus in 1986. I agree with you that the K car were horrible car's. The car of many firsts. 2 without the K Car chassis there's no minivan today In the 1980s Chrysler couldn't build a minivan from scratch so they took a K Car chassis and built up. Hence the minivan was born Baby boomer generation didn't want to drive station wagons like their parents did So they bought the minivan in drogues That is what saved Chrysler in those days and they paid back the government loan earlier than anticipated. The Merkur was a rebadged Ford Sierra from Europe. They couldn't bring the Sierra to the states because of the import tax so they built one and called it the Merkur and sold next to the Mercury Grand Marquis. Guess what people bought more!!! And not to mention the chevette was uglier then the Pontiac Firebird. The 1980s Firebird is the most sought after car today. You insulted loyal Pontiac enthusiast.

@@DecadesOfDrivingTV Just so you know The Chevrolet Lumina Was supposed to come out in 1987 the answer to the Ford Taurus/ Mercury Sable. The production was delayed until 1990 By the time the Chevy lumina came out the design was very late. GM never caught up to the Taurus and Sable GM got Disney World to pedal the Lumina Car and the dusbuster Lumina Van. GM and Ford couldn't ever catch up to Chrysler with the minivan. GM dusbuster vans didn't come close And the Windstar didn't either.
I had to stop at 1:22 into the video because you have no idea what you are talking about. You don't know anything about cars. Yet, there was a station wagon version, but was only one of the various styles you could get. Skimming through the video, when you talk about the Datsun F-10 you show models from the 1970's.
Appreciate your detailed insights and personal experiences with these cars. It's cool to hear stories from someone who's been in the automotive scene!
1982 Pontiac Firebird, Pontiacs 2+2 corvette
Thanks for watching! Have you seen our newest video about the Firebird?
I like pull up of the eagle to me it looks good. The Cimarron on the other hand was embarrassing
Thank you for sharing your thoughts on the pull up of the eagle and the Cimarron. It's always interesting to hear different perspectives!
Concept of the K car is a good idea, but styling is woeful
Thanks for watching!
The idea of the K car was the same that Chrysler employed in the mid 40s thru '53, the 3 box design. Maximum room for its size, maximum serviceability, lowest cost possible. Still, it's amazing how many different cars they managed to spin off that original platform.
Get rid of the obnoxious background noise and equally obnoxious narrator.
I had a multi color Datsun 210 wagon, rattle can primer and a set of slots borrowed from a mustang 2 wrapped up in some white letter Cooper Cobras and it literally got more attention than my 64 chevelle
Thanks for sharing your experience! It's always fun to see unique cars getting the attention they deserve.
my home town of Gig harbor Washington used Chevy Citation for police cars in the 1980's
Gig Harbor using Chevy Citations for police cars in the 1980s? That's pretty cool!
NYC cops actually used K cars as 'Police Patrollers' for about 4 yrs. Can you imagine a cop with all his gear wedged into that thing? Nevermind trying to get a perp into the back seat. When I worked for the DOE, there were a couple K's still being used for 'security detail'...

The alliance is a perfect example to a good European design and try to Americanise it, was never going to work
I appreciate your perspective on the topic.
Not defending the Cimmaron but it came with a 2.8l 6, not a four as stated in the video
Disagree with some of your views
Nissan is a homage to the C2V - one of the most loved cars in the world.
TR 7 - n interesting design - esp as a roadster that has aged well
SVO was a ground breaking vehicle and the hood scoop was where it neeed to be!
Thanks for watching! Feel free to share your picks for the ugliest cars
Interesting but with some obvious mistakes regarding European and British cars......Oh well can't get it right all the time I guess....
Most of these are too bland to call ugly.

Mustang SVO a brilliant idea, but probably would've worked better internationally, where European styling was appreciated
Hey, thanks for sharing your thoughts on the Mustang SVO!
Man a gremlin is ugly or and Opel but half of these weren't ugly
I appreciate your thoughts on the appearance of gremlins and Opels!
The SD1 and Rover 800 were a different car all together - not just an "update"
Thank you for pointing out the distinct differences between the two models, it's always great to hear different perspectives on car evolution.
@@DecadesOfDrivingTV Its not a different perspective - its a fact. The Rover 800 was based on the Honda Legend
Sorry only good thing about the GM X body was the V6
Yeah, the V6 in the GM X body was a real game-changer!
Datsun F10 '70's/80's fusion that didn't work

'81 Cadillac Seville has to be my absolute favourite Cadillac model, pity about the underdeveloped motor
I kind of like it too, the Seville, but I just don't know why
@@sparsparkster the '81 Cadillac Seville bustle back, reminds of 1940 Bentley
It's such a classic design, isn't it?

Who knew a Cadillac could give off Bentley vibes?
Rover 825 good idea don't think it works
Thanks for sharing your thoughts on the Rover 825!
Nissan S-Cargo I like it quirky and interesting

Subaru XT, wedgy shape love it, not so sure about the dash

Like the Chrysler TC, but at it's price point read high probably should have been badged Imperial
The Chrysler TC definitely had an interesting identity crisis in terms of branding!
I actually agree with most of this ugly list but always liked the AMC wagon. Fox body sucked.
Thanks for watching and agreeing with us :)
They had their own. Ahem. Style. I personally don't knock any of them. It's amazing how a two door eagle draws a bigger crowd than any corvette. It's different and that goes a long way.
Embracing individuality is what makes the car community so diverse and interesting!
Cadillac cimarron great idea, just 10 years too soon
Thanks for sharing your thoughts on the Cimarron!
If you look at what Caddy sells now days, 99% are indeed rebadged Chevies or GM of Europe.
The first car is so ugly
I actually like these
Thank you for enjoying the content!
I think the Yugo had FIAT engine, chassis and other parts
That's correct! The Yugo was indeed manufactured using various FIAT components.
all these cars look good?
It's the land of the free and you are welcome to have an individual opinion. If you know an uglier car, glad to hear it from you! Thank you :)
AMC eagle. Not ugly
Your subjective opinion is only valid to you, nobody shares your views.
I LIKED THE AMC EAGLE. AHEAD OF IT'S TIME. GREAT 4X4.😊
Ford America took a brilliant ford Europe car and butcher it for the US
who knew what happened there.
See same styling shared in modern cars and sadans
This list is useless.

@@DecadesOfDrivingTVoh before I forget and get too judgy, the tr7 had reliability issues yet they had a v8 tr7
The Chrysler K car was a successful failure 2 reasons
1 it brought America to 6 passenger front wheel drive sedan's because GM s Citation was a problem from start and Ford wouldn't have a front wheel drive sedan until the Taurus in 1986.
I agree with you that the K car were horrible car's.
The car of many firsts.
2 without the K Car chassis there's no minivan today
In the 1980s Chrysler couldn't build a minivan from scratch so they took a K Car chassis and built up. Hence the minivan was born
Baby boomer generation didn't want to drive station wagons like their parents did
So they bought the minivan in drogues
That is what saved Chrysler in those days and they paid back the government loan earlier than anticipated.

Just so you know
The Chevrolet Lumina
Was supposed to come out in 1987 the answer to the Ford Taurus/ Mercury Sable.
The production was delayed until 1990
By the time the Chevy lumina came out the design was very late.
GM never caught up to the Taurus and Sable
GM got Disney World to pedal the Lumina Car and the dusbuster Lumina Van.
GM and Ford couldn't ever catch up to Chrysler with the minivan.
GM dusbuster vans didn't come close
And the Windstar didn't either.
What is this? Ugly cars or under performing cars?
Ferrari mondial a bit of a limbo model
Agree
I had to stop at 1:22 into the video because you have no idea what you are talking about. You don't know anything about cars. You keep saying the AMC Eagle had the body of a station wagon when the images you show had ZERO features of a station wagon. Yet, there was a station wagon version, but was only one of the various styles you could get. Skimming through the video, when you talk about the Datsun F-10 you show models from the 1970's. The car in your thumbnail is a 1970's body style of a car that never existed. First lesson in doing a video about anything......HAVE A CLUE OF WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT.
