Pretty much everyone did westerns, but I think it was Roddenberry's "The Lieutenant" that most of them were in. Nimoy and Shatner did a Man From Uncle together.
Find and watch DeForrest Kelly in an episode of Perry Mason. Actors back then often did several different shows before hitting on the one that made them famous.
For many yrs of this show, the introduction showed Matt in a showdown with a gunslinger. They actually drew about the same, but it would appear the gunslinger missed and Matt didn't. That showdown actually may have been on an episode....I don't remember my trivia.
Gunsmoke Trek Episodes Spock: “A Man a Day,” “The Search,” “I Call Him Wonder,” and “Treasure of John Walking Fox.” Kirk: “Quaker Girl.” McCoy : “Indian Scout.” Scotty : “Quint Asper Comes Home.”
Is Deforest Kelly one of the five (in the Magnificent Seven) who try to stop the burial early in the film? Only one of the five louts speaks (the one on the extreme right) and the two on the right have their guns shot away by Brynner and McQueen. The one I think is Mr Kelly has his Stetson shading his face, but I do think it is him. In a non speaking role he would not be credited.
The character DeForest Kelly played in this 1956 episode of Gunsmoke, really hated Native Americans. But, I suppose that was a very common attitude back in those days.
Deforest Kelly was such a great actor. He was the best actor on Star Trek without a doubt.
"Dammit Matt. I'm a DOCTOR. Not a gunfighter."
Before getting his star role as doc McCoy on Star Trek, Kelley often played those in hopeless situations. Good actor.
From Tocoa Ga in real life. Just as Bones is/will be from Ga in the Trek universe.
@@flyaway7636 and being the Doctor on the Enterprise wasn't a hopeless situation?
Good job.
This clip is incredibly clear. I wish all the Gunsmoke clips on TH-cam were as easy to see as this.
I never get enough of Gunsmoke💖
Wow! De was one mighty fine actor.
William Shatner, Leonard Nimoy, Deforest Kelly and James Doohan were in Gunsmoke before Star Trek.
Deforest is not a common name. I've never met or heard of another person named Deforest.
Lee Jordan Shatner was on Gunsmoke I think just after he first played Kirk.
@@MTPromises666 Humphrey Bogart's middle name is DeForest.
far out
@@MTPromises666 When he was in the woods, you couldn't see Deforest for the trees...
Bones looking like a cross between Wolverine & Walt Whitman ...

Bones with a beard look a like Abe Lincoln, holy smoke!
Yeah!
I'm a doctor, not a prospector.
damm it Jim i look like a hidious klingon with this beard.
He had a beard in the beginning of "ST:MP". Shaved it off though.
I'm a doctor, not a gunfighter!
"He's dead, Sheriff."
"Well, as long as it isn't Ben Cartwright. You's have to go up to Tahoe to do that . . . ."
I miss Deforest Kelly 😢

I love this show
Learning all those lines.😊❤
wow! DeForest! Great find... Did all the TOS Star Trek guys start in Gunsmoke?
Looks like a conclusion of "Spectre of the gun".
Mr. Victor W. Quebec No of course. Walter Koenig did not do Gunsmoke!
Wolverine's dad.
Holy, De would have made a great Wolverine if he was Hugh Jackman's age when they made the X-movies.
It’s still hard to imagine “bones” in any other role than bones on Star Trek
Geez, De with facial hair. The only time I've seen De with facial hair was Star Trek: The Motion Picture.

That "intro" gunslinger was actually the firearms expert who taught Arness how to do the fast draw.
@@starsiegeplayer Wow...great bit of trivia! The way I see it, the gunslinger drew first but missed.
The Stand Ins sure stood around....

Sulu ?
Green Berets ...
He has a hatred for the greenblood tribe
Damn it Marshal, I'm a doctor, not a bounty hunter..
Damn it Marshal ... I'm a doctor not an Indian hunter
Dr McCoy as Abe Lincoln...!
Sounds like Amos Cartwirght was a pointed eared hobgoblin.
Dammit sheriff! I'm a DOCTOR! Not an Amish injun fighter🪶!🤓😎✌🏻
damm it Jim i'm doctor not amish!
Yes Bones, I realize that but you'll have to do. I'm dating an Amish woman looking for two Mennonite.
Reading Kelly’s biography FRON SAWDUST TO STARDUST brought me here.
Quite the crooked adhesive beard on old doc.

See him on "Wanted: Dead or Alive" with Steve McQueen.
sweet
Arness counselled Leonard Ninoy to do Star Trek.
Dr. McCoy from Startrek in his early years..
Didn't even recognize him until two minutes in.
"its too risky jim!"
Kelly was probably in 40 or 50 westerns before
I wonder if the lopsided beard was natural or makeup? Bigger sideburn on the left.
Holy shit it's Keiren Duffy.
I'm a doctor, dammit!
guys looks like logan/wolverine
Racism, but Marshall Dillon wasn't having it.
m
That fake beard is horrible ...
Doc McCoy looks like Ronnie Van Zant...
Next time he has that many whiskers will be Star Trek TMP. 😂😂😂😂
