Great video. I did the same thing when I got my Oled Steam Deck last year. Without booting up my new Oled SD, I removed the 2TB SSD from my original SD and swapped the SSDs, and everything worked like nothing ever happened. The entire process took me 5-10 minutes. Then, I gave the old SD to my nephew.
@@nophacetech He was like, WFT is a Steam Deck. I said open your steam, and I'll show you, and now you can play on the go.😁 He went crazy when I showed him he could jump into desktop mode.
I upgraded my OG deck 64gb to a 2tb ssd from ali express and it worked flawlessly. Only suggestion I have for you tutorial is to store your screws on a white background or lighter one. Putting them on the black cover is risking not seeing them. I used two white bowls. Also for anyone else the magnetic screwdriver is helpful since the screws are small and can fall down to the carpet monster without the magneto power. Great tutorial.
If anyone had the same issue as me where the drive doesn’t show up, go to game mode, then storage setting, and there it should pop up and then format it there for it to show up in desktop
i think it was answered sorry for the delay! Yes everything turns back on with absolutely nothing different you just have more storage if you clone and upgrade like this its amazing haha.
It's great that the ssd isn't soldered to the motherboard. looking over against Nintendo and the switch where the LCD model only have 32 GB and OLED have 64 GB
i did the same for the old 64gb version but when i change the ssd it wont boot. And there isnt a boot option for the new ssd. I dont know why... under linux i see that it shows the ssd and the data i copied but i dont know why it whont boot from the new ssd... Does anyone have any suggestions?

It's so great that they are interchangeable like nothing has happened! Gave it to your nephew, best relative ever! 😍 he must have been pumped
