Alma Awakened is easily the hardest boss I have ever faced thus far, and I think it will stay that way. She didn't take the most attempts compared to bosses in other games, but I have absolutely no consistency against her. It's an RNG f*ckfest with the flying swallow, and her fireball barrage is actual BS. Can't reliably dodge it.
Interestingly, I also found the Dabi clone the easiest. Never had trouble dodging his attacks. Meanwhile, the Kitetsu clone's damage was completely broken, even with full HP upgrades for when you encounter him. I am speaking from a NGB perspective though, as I never played NGMNC.

Awakened Alma is the pinnacle of NG1's bullshit, where despite your large moveset only one move "consistently" works and even then randomly the ai can just say "NO" before proceeding to hit you with a frame 1 insta kill grab
if you want to consistently beat awakened Alma i recommend getting good alternating the direction of your roll jumps because it's the best way to dodge her projectiles, getting good at managing your space and timing to hit her with a enhance technique when she tries to charge you and abuse rank 2 inazuma to kill her adds and knock her ass down. it has a lingering hitbox that can catch her pretty consistently.

After Alma Awakened, the rest of the game was a piece of cake. She is the hardest boss in video game history. I literally quit playing the game for 4 months before going back and finally beating her. I literally jumped up and yelled Yeeeeeeessssssssss Once I beat her. I stand on that to this day bro. I only beat her once. After completing the game I never played it again.

Just beat all the collection games, it was wild. I played NG1 ages ago on og Xbox and Sigma 2 on PS3 but I didn't own them and never got far. I think Razor's Edge was easily the worst and it had the most annoying boss (final boss sucks)
I would say that Fiend Murai is the most bullshit of the bosses just in that you can't attack him safely without the him parrying you in recovery. Luckily cause he's the last, and the Vigoor Emperor is so easy, you can kinda just item through the fight. However, if you were treat him as just a boss outside of the context of having endgame equipment and stats, he's definitely up there imo. I wish people would make a mod tool to design mission mode encounters ((
Personally I find normal Alma harder than her awakened form
Alma is easy cus you can cheese her use the art of ice storm or whatever it's called and btw you can cheese her when you stun her
