    The knife that was better than anticipated was the TRM Atom, the biggest let down was the Benchmade Bugout. Most treasured knife was a Puma Cub my son and I gave my Dad and he gave it back to me shortly before he passed away.
    As for Clint Eastwood obviously he's carrying a Buck 110 . Thank's for all you guy's do I really look forward to these videos.

    E/R/E, nice job again. First, the Rockstead gets my nod this week for a fantastic, sentimental gift. Riley is 'spot on' about liner locks vs. back locks or shark lock. Knife that 'started it all': Kabar 1236 hunter with leather sheath (gift from dad used mostly as a fillet knife). Most disappointing: an "off"brand Boy Scout pocket knife (blades broke during the first skill award camp weekend). Most sentimental: a Spartan Difensa tactical fixed blade I bought for my oldest son (CSAR pilot).

    Clint Eastwood would carry a fixed blade for sure. Has to be a classic clip point Bowie tho. My sentimental knife is an inexpensive Herbertz back lock folder that my dad brought me as a kid when he took a business trip to Germany. Had it for over 40 years, and keep it in a cherished spot in my collection. There's nothing special about it other than a great childhood memory.

    Got a proper in my pocket with custom walnut scales that I made. The Benchmade mini griptilian/pika got them at the same time. Those were the knives that made me an enthusiast. Couple saks before that got me on my way. Everything before that was a cheap hardware store knife. I read an interview that stated Clint Eastwood was carrying a sak during the interview. But I feel he has a Bowie knife or large buck fixed blade. The most surprised in a good way I’ve been is the ceo flipper and the buck sprint. Knives that are better than I thought for the price.

    DBK did spine wack the Bugout, batonning it, and it surprisingly survived perfectly ! The comp.lock is way more resistant when cut with force, it resists upward pressure really well.

    I think Clint Eastwood would be carrying a Bowie. A Buck or Bark River perhaps. I'm basing this on his old spaghetti westerns.
    The knife that changed the game for me was the mini grip. I realized the higher quality compared to the Walmart/ gas station knives.
    When I was about 14 my father gave me a custom Bowie knife that he brought from Jalisco MX. It's made from a leaf spring from an old truck. That knife means more to me than my entire collection. I'm 40 now and I still have it. 🤙

    The knife that let me down was the spyderco drunken. Sick ass knife with the polished blade all the milling but for some reason i had a hard time spydie flicking it. So sold it to help fund my koenig!!!

    Clint would definitely rock a Bowie fixed blade that he could shave with. Knife that was better than anticipated was the spyderco lil native. Besides it's length it can handle anything, small footprint, and is my biggest user. The turning point knife for me was the biblio... the first time I owned an M390 blade. It was then I discovered edge retention and all I had to do was strop it once a week. The rest is history...

    I’d always been the guy who had a random knife in my bag/car/desk but never anything nicer than CRKT or SAK. Back in January I found a Benchmade Crooked River mini and decided that would be my celebratory gift for a new job and I fell down the rabbit hole! As for wanted to like but ended up dissatisfied, probably a sheep’s foot full size Griptilian with AWT scales. I love the shape so much more with the alu scales, but it’s too slick and scuffs if you look at it sideways. Going the other way, I bought a delica 4 for a screaming deal thinking it’d be my beater fishing/outside knife and holy crap is that thing great! Only thing I’d change is I wish the lanyard hole wasn’t integrated into the clip, gets in the way of the deep carry clip I swapped on. That’s a solid discussion topic, too, lanyards/beads or no? I love them with a deep carry clip so it’s easier to fish out of the pocket. Anyhow, thanks for another great episode!! You three are getting more and more comfortable and the content is fantastic. Have an awesome week, see y’all next Friday!

    Clint Eastwood knife = a new Hinderer Field Tac , but he would go with a leather sheath instead of the supplied kydex. My first real knife was a Spyderco Manix 2 in BD1 about 6 years ago. Then my son wanted one around two years ago and I fell down the rabbit hole with Spyderco n Benchmade and TH-cam reviews. A knife that let me down was the Strider AR70. It was so cool, but when I got it I could hardly open and close it, it was soooo stiff. I tried for two days to break it but all I did was bruise my thumbs lol. So that was the only knife I ever returned to the dealer. I’d still get one, but I would have to handle it first. A game changer for me was the Protech Malibu. I knew as soon as I held that Malibu, I knew I had to have one, and had to check out Protech as a brand. Compression locks suck for me as a lefty, so yeah I don’t even have one right now. And I totally agree about the Subvert - too thick and NO detente!

    My biggest let down was my ZT0452cf horrible lock failure and crap heat treat. My 0095bw however is an incredible knife i will never let go of.

    Definitely the original Spyderco Endura with the built in pocket clip. I broke the clip on a seat belt and the knife went into a box. I'm still looking for it. Next one, the Benchmade Mini-griptillian in 440C. Great little knife that I still carry. Carrying the TRM shadow today. Clint was carry Kabar USMC fighter!

    I got a Kershaw 1987 RJ Martin one year for Christmas and carried that for about four years before I finally realized there’s got to be better quality knives out there (boy was I right!) so I started doing research and it snowballed from there.

  • @GBall_Vision
    @GBall_Vision 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Clint Eastwood is like a lot of us I bet. He'd probably carry a case folder as a secondary and a fixed blade like a Buck. The knife that truly started it for me was the Benchmade bugout CF S90V, I had about 10-15 pocket knives before that but they were swiss army knife Gerber's Sogs then on to Bucks and I wanted something a little more premium so I went with a bugout now I have well over 50 knives. I'm more of a gun collector then a knife collector but I'm heading towards both lol 🤣 some of my favorite knives now is the Mordax, Malibu, Atom Newtron and lately Kizer has been killing it. I've been getting in to a lot of Wharncliffe and sheepsfoot type blades. You guys rock keep up the good work 🔥🔥🔥

  • @jogabonito360
    @jogabonito360 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I have to highlight the cold steel ad15 lite (because I’m cheap). That one opened me up to bigger knives. Different locking mechanisms were really driving me early on but that one was much bigger than any knife I had handle previously. I get it, almost take a finger off in the first 30 minutes, am so close to boxing it back up but then I take a breathe. Within an hour, I’ve got it singing, opened and closed (still one of my favorite knives to fidget with).

  • @Frenchy28
    @Frenchy28 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I feel like Clint would rock Hinderer. Maybe a half-track for EDC and if he’s out being a cowboy it’s gotta be a fixed blade - Ranch Bowie.
    The knife that surprised me the most was my gateway knife, the ZT0562 ti. Went gas station to kershaw to benchmade/spyderco over many years and never ventured beyond that til I pulled the trigger on the 0562 and that action hooked me and changed my preference to bigger knives. I expected it to be good, and I had nice Benchmade/Spyderco stuff but that first time handling the 0562 was so far better than I thought. It had me hooked and have been continuing to chase that perfect action since in a much larger collection now.
    The most disappointing knife was a Kizer Mikkel Willumsen Barbosa. Bought it at a stupidly good price (now I see why) and every bad thing I had read about it was spot on… I figured people were just being winey but the gimping/landing zone is so aggressively bad/sharp I never EDC’d it. Material wise it’s a fine enough knife and I paid so little for it I just have it in my hunting bag/belt to use if I’m wearing gloves and need something I don’t care if I lose or break… but that thing disappointed me. I also get disappointed every time i see a knife I could like but has an Emerson wave. I know some love them but that is my knife thing that could go away forever and I wouldn’t care.

    The knife that got me hooked was the Tenacious. That day i started researching knives and knew i had to have more and better. My 16 year old daughter still carries that tenacious to this day. My proudest dad moment was when she brought it to me and told me it had lost its bite. I had never even taught her what bite was.

    In an effort to get collect 3 knives from all the major brands, I ran into trouble with CRKT . Particularly with the M-16 . This model has let me down, variant after variant, none able to function smoothly. The flat head pivot can be turned with a fingernail . Once the pivot is turned left enough to ALMOST successfully open with a flip, the pivot is sticking up a good 1/4 inch over handle surface. Still won’t flip. I hate to say it , but since knives evolved to operate beyond a sharp piece of metal that folds , the M16 no longer makes the cut. I’ve given up on finding 3 collectable CRKT blades , the latest Pilar and Piet just don’t have the mechanical gumption I’m looking for . I say Eastwood would carry a buck 110 , lifted off a dead man , stained with tobacco spit . Thank you guys , lots of fun once again

    My turning point was a Case trapper. I had a Benchmade Grizzly Ridge for about two years and carried everywhere. Then I wanted something I could carry in my pocket, by itself or in a sheath from the western store. Biggest let down? Knives I can't get, like Spyderco exclusives in exotic steels that I can't manage to get shipped to France...
    And in actually owned knife : the Real Steel G5 Metamorph Mk.II. Action was terrible I had to do tons of work on it, and even then the 14C28N they use seems to have a spotty heat treat at best. I can't seem to get that knife actually really sharp (not like civivi's 14c28n), and I sharpen s110v, Maxamet and ZDP often...

    I’m kind of bored with flippers… I don’t mind them if there’s another deployment method, but on their own I get bored.

    The benchmade 940 or Southern Grind Spider Monkey, would be my most disappointing knives.

    I had a microtech ultratech, and 2 gerber06 autos, and a hogue exa01 fail and break
    Microtech knives are absolute bullshit they are for a fidget toy and not cutting at all!

    Trend to hopefully soon be in the past "full dress everything" terrible designed knives that people think automatically make it a 1000 dollar knife and worthwhile just by putting damascus and timascus on it

    Koenig Mini Goblin
    Skiff Drifter
    My two biggest disappointments
    Edit: Has the kid actually ever done anything with a knife where he needs an 800lb lockup?
