Aww...I am happy for her success. I am half Korean and I can relate to some of her stories especially about how most people (usually non Asian) back in the day used to frown upon Korean food or anything not European with the exception of Chinese food. Korean food is fantastic.
It's not cheap, but it isn't going to destroy your bank account either. I'd say for an entree, cocktail, and an appetizer plus tax and tip for one it'd run around $50-ish
I'm a Pakistani. And there is such a clear divide between our local cuisine and the cuisines of other countries. It was just inspirational to see how you have fused the different styles in your restaurant.
Honestly sushi and bibimbap is Michelin quality dishes. Each single bite is very well balanced and compliment each other. But only because it's so common and not rare. It is overlooked in michelin star taste ratings who don't want to cheapen their image by giving awards to a relatively affordable and traditional mainsteam dish every year
I just looked up Parachute today and their menu is completely different now and way more recognizable Korean food instead of this fusion stuff. Still want to try it.
Kenneth Ho he isnt lying when he said its the best single bread starter you could ever conceive. Its cruncy bread with a fully loaded baked potato inside pretty much.
Does anyone know what process would have been used to make the soft-boiled egg she opens at 1:23. It is remarkable. I soft-boil eggs all the time, but she has soft-boiled an egg in a way that she could still open it with one hand AND the white didn't rip to expose the soft yolk as it tumbled out of the shell into the bowl...soft-boiled. I've never seen that. Any clues would be appreciated. Thanks!
I didn't know this place existed and I always go to Chicago since it's 40 minutes away from where I live! I really want to try it. Never had Korean food.
I live in Indiana, so about a 30 minute drive from Chicago, but have never made my way to KTown! Definitely need to go visit soon!! What other spots do you recommend? 😁
Try Joong Boo Market, too. It's a Korean grocery store with a dumpling shop outside and a small restaurant inside. It's a lot of fun, but packed on the weekend.
I've been there actually! Haha I haven't eaten there yet but I live buying all my ingredients when I'm cooking Korean food at home 😁 and the soju is cheap! Lmao
Jason Rodriguez I agree, I think she got a lot of crap.. but I remember when she served raw sliced peppers with ssamjang for one of the quickfires.. and I was like... what? It's the Korean version of carrot sticks and ranch. Smh.
U wont see any koreans in that restaurant though. But what i like about this kind of food is that it introduces americans to korean culture. Gateway food.
@3:21: If they wanted it *to be more Korean* , I guess *they could've called it "byeong"* : otherwise, calling it *"bing"* would *make it Chinese* , and calling it *"bánh"* would *make it Vietnamese.*
You know a lot of people don't like america when it comes to racism, government, justice, and so on but one thing I love about america is the blend of culture and the food that was born from those cultures mixing and blending together. Like we would have texmex tacos, burritos, our current pizza, orange chicken, and so on if this never took place.
Especially that dumpling, Korean Mandoo never deep-fried(It's Chinese Tradition), and never use plum and pig's blood for dumpling paste, shapes of dumpling also far away from that. So ingredient, the way of cooking, styling, all of the recipe is different with Korean Mandoo, so how that is Korean food?
:42 Homegirl almost said “and I have my white friends.” 😂😂😂
Glad to see Beverly doing her thing. Loved her on Top Chef and was sorry to see her go home so early in the contest.
Didn't she almost make the finals?
@@LeviSalt7 She got far but no
@@LeviSalt7 She got knocked out, won last chance kitchen and she was brought back to the finals.

This place is around the corner from me, and it truly is incredible.
BnaBreaker what are the prices like?

Bibimbap is one of my favorite dishes, if not the favorite. Such a great balance of flavors and nutrients.
just look at that cryspy rice ... whoaaa delicious
I wouldn't say a great balance of nutrients, but the flavours are indeed great!

wow..she is so passionate about her food. I hope one day I'm lucky enough to eat there
So awesome that you went to Parachute. One of the best places in Chicago!
Good to see Matt is back. 👍
Good host and good series... Makes me want to try more Korean food...
This is your best episode yet. Great looking food, thoughtfully reviewed. Well done.
I miss this place.. that bing bread is LIFE
this is right down the street from me. gotta try it out
I just looked up Parachute today and their menu is completely different now and way more recognizable Korean food instead of this fusion stuff. Still want to try it.
May have to visit Chicago just to visit this place
that bread looks hella good
Kenneth Ho he isnt lying when he said its the best single bread starter you could ever conceive. Its cruncy bread with a fully loaded baked potato inside pretty much.

That dumplings looked so awesome. Im goint to copy that, with Spanish blood sausage
Thank you for spotlighting this place. Will definitely add to list of places to try. Especially since Han Bun in Westmont will be closing
As always, great job Matt!
So excited!!!! I’m relocating to Chicago as we speak!!!

I love these videos keep up the good work!!
Oh yes indeed, more K-Town thanks.
I loved Beverly on Top Chef. That girl can cook. Last Chance Kitchen WINNER, y’all! 👏
Love K-Town, more more more!
Really enjoy your show.
I wish I could love anything as much as Matthew loves Korean food.
I've driven and drive by this place so often and never knew what it sold, great to know 🙂
I forgot to say thank you. Thank you, Matthew!
Love Parachute! One of my favorite restaurants!
Their roast cat is amazing.
these look really good. but i think the bing bread is a bit of a stretch saying its similar to korean pancake. but the other stuff. wow. good stuff
I remember eating this kind of bread when I was in germany. It was in a restaurant called Brauhaus Spandau.
Chicago!!! Finally.
I didn't know this place existed and I always go to Chicago since it's 40 minutes away from where I live! I really want to try it. Never had Korean food.
Veyra Diaz It is not traditional Korean ways but I really want to try that Bibibbob too.
Time to move to Chicago.
Yes... Tons of good foods there
o wow! road trip to chicago.
Love this introduction!
great video...well done...
The best part of this video is how she cracked a poached egg into a bowl of rice with one hand without damaging the egg.
Do not see the egg jjim on their online menu...is it a special request item or did you do the off the cuff menu when you were there?
I love how he's "mmmm'ing" as the spoon _barely_ touches his lips. *Must* be legit.
I remember seeing her on Top chef. I'm surprised she didn't cry for her hubby in this interview.
yae! u r finally in chicago!

Wasn't she in Top Chef?
Yeah I think Top chef season 9.
yea. i remember feeling like she was bullied by the other contestants on that season.
Jason Rodriguez no, she just cried a lot. If it was sunny, she cried, windy, cry.
Jason Rodriguez I agree, I think she got a lot of crap.. but I remember when she served raw sliced peppers with ssamjang for one of the quickfires.. and I was like... what? It's the Korean version of carrot sticks and ranch. Smh.
leo ll LOL
great video
Ya know it's good when the host eats all of it
Need to have a Korean Burrito! Put spicy Korean Kimchi in a burrito, you will make millions!
Hey Eater, this video isn't linked to the other K-Town vids. Is this the start of season 2 or is it episode 41?
Good job eater
Wow! She is good!
4:29 Does anyone know the song? shazam didnt help
more in chicago plz!
Does anyone know the name of the song playing in the background when they show the dumplings being cooked?

i don't think you can improve on old traditional dol sot bibimbap. that ggo chu jang is magic sauce
Was she in Master Chef?? What's the cost point there? I just know of Korean BBQ !
Bing bread could be lithuanian, sorry but I’m stealing that.
So she makes Seoul food?
Fire!!!!
Oh shit it’s Bev Kim from Top Chef!
Bibimbap bop to the top
Sundae is actually made with Korean glass noodles (dangmyeon) and not vermicelli noodles.
i went to the same church FKUMC
Close your eyes and you are listening to Andy Bernard reviewing a Korean restaurant
holly crap? holly craft? hahaha
Mmmmmm moew moew looks good.
You know its good if all you can say is mmmmmmmmmmm
mmm that looks like a POKE bowl and a bibibap...love the ideas....totallly stealing them.
It's not poke if the fish is being cooked. Please learn the difference.
It's worse if it's being cooked ...
Where's the kimchi and banchan?
Much love to Bev, but got damn. $9 for pickles? And ~$30 for an entree course? You trippin'.
Ron Park should be like a 10 dollar meal, when you add Michelin star, and hipsters, price goes up.
Hipsters take pride in overpaying
Which was hot favorite dish
Digging the mustache!!
I wasn't sure if that was a moustache or if he accidentally sneezed in an ashtray.
As a young Asian man I also get this. It’s when I don’t shave for about a week
This place is so expensive :(
cool beard
이해가되지 아나. Michelin star 비빔밥? Its like Michelin star Taco. Or Michelin star Cereal.
Anyone else bothered by the repeating clips of food while they were talking?
Truffle bread Korean!
