I wish they would have updated it with roller bearing caps.

The 2 biggest locomotives ever made are from Union Pacific. Big boy 4014 and DDA40X 6936.

The beacon is supposed to work. Mine does. F6 should turn it on.

the beacon light was working early on in your vid but very slow and not very bright (when you was running thru functions)

I can't wait to operate my 6936!!!! George from Soundtraxx told me there is only one decoder in this unit.

Maybe Scaletrains will do a DDA40X museum quality

I’m surprised they did a 6936 in ho scale! I have a Bachmann DD40X and man it’s unreal how big they are even in a model form!

tested mine on my layout with 2.7% grade and 6927 can pull about 35 mixed freight cars before stalling (just kept adding cars till it could not get up the hill....great fun) I have 6901 on order in ready to weather scheme....still waiting for it to turn up at my local Athearn dealer here in Oz

I just received a DDA40X 6910 with Sound today and it is a lot bigger than my Dutch trains. Packaging was very good and protective and fortunately no imperfections nor damage.
I have no layout so I hope to make a video soon how it runs and sounds. It says "Tsunami-2" on the box. Yes, I am certainly happy with it together with my TRIX BigBoy.
The only thing that is a bit odd is why those trucks are painted in silver but I guess the prototype was like that. The nicest color for trucks is black or dark-grey in my opinion.

This is a spectacular example of a dda40x model, I do adore this locomotive type & I wish that I could afford this model, but my personal financial situation is not what I want it to be currently.

About the crawl speed: I find that with new locos straight out of the box, first running them in at medium speed for 30 mins in each direction helps a lot with smoothly running at low speeds

    Wish someone would do a DD35 A & B unit!

    • @mixxer8880
      @mixxer8880 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Overland Models Brass produced
DD35A and B units in HO scale over the years. If I'm not mistaken, I think Athearn made some DD35As in HO scale in the late 70s, sometime in the 80s, maybe 90s as well.

I have a question for James. I had a dealer at a train show recently, tell me that I should not store Athearn Genesis locomotives in the box, unless the boxes are sideways. He said that they will leak lube oil, out of trucks. He claimed, Athearn has sleeves now telling us this. None of my purchases have had a sleeve from shows or stores. I noticed at the beginning of this video, your engine appears to have one. Can you share some info on this? Thanks!

Do u mind recording your loco with sound off? I cant tell if mine loco motor is just plain loud when sound is off or not.
Compared to my other loco, these motors are loud.
    Thank u

Genesis motors are loud, they always make a clicking noise for me. But the RTR ones make no noise at all. Extremely annoying

They are double motored, and for the DCC ones, double decoders too. Or the old ones were two decoders, rumor is that may be different on this run

5 is dynamic break. Presses 5 and we hear dynamic brake noise WHILE THE LOCO IS STATIONARY!!!!
How many years have sound decoders been manufactured now?
And they still can't get basic crap like this right.
