  • Create yourself a tool to help make easy pleats in your fabric. Making a pleated skirt or dress? Spend a little time making a pleating board and you'll save hours pleating that endless fabric.
This is a video of me making the pleating board in under 40 minutes. All you need is lining paper, strong spray adhesive, a long ruler, scissors and an iron. Good luck!

Wanted one of these for a long time, just didn't want to spend the money. Your tutorial was great. Very easy to follow. I'm gonna make mine with very small pleats for my smocking projects. I'm going to allow myself to make it over a couple days so all the lines and scoring wont drive me insane. Thanks again! I LOVE IT!

OMFREAKIN-G!! Better than pleating individually by hand, far-FAR cheaper than buying a machine (or tool). Genius. I can't believe how diy still manages to astound me.

Absolutely loved it. I am going to make my own. Thanks so much for this. I've been looking for a pleater that was longer than the 11" or 22" offered and now I can customize my own! Great job.It will be worth it to create my own.

Yeah I'd say poster board is slightly too think, you want the edges to be as crisp as possible. You can get lining paper from a DIY store in the wallpaper section. Really cheap and loads of it on a roll incase it takes a couple of goes to get right. Good luck!
