that's cause it WAS an adventure. They were protecting the town together, but then when Danny gave up his powers, they lost that, and the adventures they went on did have lasting effects on the charaters. Especially with how Danny grew as a character after the Spectra incident and became more confident in himself

I could kind of understand Jazz being upset, since she usually wasn't directly involved. Sam and Tucker have no excuse, they saw how stressing it was for Danny. Instead of being respectful and caring, they leave him in the dirt. Some friends you have, Danny... You know, I do think it could've been better for the show to simply ditch these two and replace them with Dani.

Why didn't Danny ask for help from the ghosts he's actually friends with? The Yeti ghosts, the female dragon ghost, Pandora, that werewolf ghost, and a lot more that I can't remember right now.
This bothered me also when I first watched the finale years ago. During the scene towards the end when Danny was getting many ghost together to bring back to the human world, it would be a very fulfilling moment if the ghost that Danny befriended joined him by his side, which in turn encouraged the rest of the ghost zone to join his side.

I always found her kinda irritating but still kinda cute. She is one of the many secondary female teenage characters that the producers arbitrarily decided needed to be goth for no reason. Seriously, why cant they ever make a character a goth and actually have her act liem a girl instead of just stealing the fashion?
She has a design that I can ONLY see as her having a massive widow's peak that reaches between her eyebrows. That alone makes her unattractive, but she's also kind of unlikable so that on top of the weird hair... yeah.
Far worse than a cliffhanger ending is definitely a rushed ending. With a cliffhanger you can at least hope and dream how it will end, but a rushed ending, makes you feel dissatisfied.
The fact that its also the canonical ending of the show really blows. At least with some rushed or cliffhanger ones; they can pull a different/potential timeline thing When the official ending just sucks is the worst. Cause all of that really happened and can’t ever be undone. Even with a continuation or even a reboot.

I heard Steve Marmel was fired was because he wanted a change in tone for the show by making everything darker and more mature while creator Butch Hartman wanted things to stay light-hearted and humorous. Unofficially it was over shipping. Steve wanted Danny to end up with Valerie while Butch demanded the final girl be his waifu Sam. It's weird but as strange as that sounds, I believe it.
Wouldn't be a surprise if that is true because Butch Hartman is an greedy egotistical hack that takes credit for being what made his shows good. He probably hates taking risks and the only risks he takes is continuing to ruin his legacy.
What about the other shit Sam did, I mean she changed the entire lunch menu just to fit her wants and food preferences, she blackmailed him and Tucker with an embarrassing photo just to keep them quite, she entered a beauty pageant just to mock those who enjoy them and she stocked Danny and Valerie and didn't even comfort him when Valerie rejected him.

The Masters' Blasters could detect Danny's ghost essence, and it has been established before that it could be detected even without him turning into a ghost. So, honesty, it's not a plothole.
Easy solution: Blasters- "This radar says there's a ghost right in front of us." Danny- "I'm not a ghost." Blasters- "But the radar...." Danny- "It must be wrong, I'm clearly a human." Danny's parents- "Yeah, it's true, if he was a ghost we'd know it." Danny- "Maybe your super experimental technology based around supernatural concepts that haven't been properly researched isn't 100% fool-proof and there's a small chance that it's just straight-up wrong. Or maybe because my parents have all this ghost BS and a giant ghost portal to the ghost world, maybe that just sort-of spreads ghost energy around or something? It's not like there's any prescient at all for a ghost-shifter to even exist." Blasters- "Makes sense, sorry for the trouble." And then Vlad wouldn't be able to prove Danny wrong without revealing that he's a ghost as well because he's the only other ghost-shifter in the universe.
I belive ghost powers work by the ghost changing a objects phisycal properties by aplying and charging the object with the correct frequency and amount of ghost energie for that particular change. I also belive that the reason why the ectoranium can't be changed is because this element either rejects ghost energie or has a neutralizing high enegy exotermical reaction (thus the sparks and impossibility to touch by ghosts) as soon as ghost energy is aplied. Ghosts constantly realece a a small amount of energy (thus the aura and ectosignature), that way they will always react when touching ectoranium. But intangible objects simply have their physical status altered and do not release ghost energy. At least that is how I make sence of it.

Spiderman 2's problem was more psychological than physical. His own mind was working against him. When Mary Jane gets kidnapped, all those mental blocks are removed as Peter finally "allows" himself to be Spiderman again. Its surprisingly deep.

Steve Marmel’s absence is so deeply felt in this season. The worst thing about this season is just how forgettable it is. Same with this final episode. If you ask any Danny Phantom fan what their favorite episode or Ghost or character is, it will not be from this season. This season just aggravates me because it completely ignores everything that made Danny Phantom work before and it ultimately just feels like Butch with this season said “who cares?” Who cares that the majority of the season is just ghosts we don’t know or won’t remember and only have knock off episodes of that are nowhere near as fun or entertaining as previous episodes? Who cares that Valerie never finds out Danny’s secret and that we don’t have an emotionally impactful resolution to either their rivalry or the aftermath of their feelings for one another? Who cares that Dan Phantom, the best villain in the entire show doesn’t come back for a fiery vengeance and challenge Danny again? Who cares that Sam and Tucker, Danny’s most solid support system are completely out of character this season and act like complete assholes to Danny? Who cares that Tucker becoming the Mayor is even more stupid than Vlad being it? Who cares that Dani Phantom shows up only at the end of the season? Who cares that Valerie who finds out Vlad’s identity never has any episodes this season about her hunting him and getting revenge on being tricked? Who cares that she is barely in this season and that at the final episode she doesn’t care that Danny is a ghost? Who cares about how forced and unnatural Danny and Sam getting together feels this season? Who cares about the deal Fright Knight made with Vlad and the implications behind it? Who cares that we never see anything come from that partnership? And of course, who cares that Pariah Dark, who was locked away forever in Reign Storm, somehow helps Danny save the earth and no one notices? Just who cares about anything that made the show interesting? Not Butch this season. That’s for sure.
That Iron Giant Missile Launch was hilarious. Reminds me of YTPs, but a little disappointed that you didn't end it with a explosion from pressing the button too many times.
Danny Phantom was a great animated series that went out in a terrible way, especially when the final episode can't seem to come up with a clear direction for where it wants to go. You have basically jerkass superheroes taking Danny's place, Danny losing his powers, capturing all the ghosts and convincing them to help him, and an asteroid made out of Kryptonite that just comes out of nowhere and can basically kill ghosts... I mean, they could have made the finale the return of the evil Danny Phantom from the future, but this is what they went with instead... this was an embarrassing way to go out.
The sad part is they *were* going to bring Dan Phantom back. But after the shift in writing staff between Season 2 and Season 3, that never came to fruition.
Completely freaking agree. Danny's friends were so freaking unsupportive of his decision to have a normal life. I was really wondering how they just couldn't be happy for him, like they only liked him because he was a superhero, and then it's framed as if Danny were the selfish one. Also, I never felt Danny and Sam made a compelling couple. It felt like it was there because they were both male and female leads and that's it.
I 2nd that motion. I don't Understand why lots of people ship Danny and sam. Especially after the final episode of the series, granted that its canon. I personally saw valerie as a better suitor if they ave her a chance and redeemeed character arc. My point. I ship and love Danny × Valerie

This finale made me remember why I hated Sam. Also the fact that Valerie and Danny had more development time than Danny and Sam, so the plausible ship is dead for the "hurr durr childhood friend romance" one.

Heck, they're called "ghosts" for Pete's sake. I know when I was growing up, characters couldn't say "kill" or "fart". I don't know if this is the case today, though. If you read between the lines, you can figure out how the ghosts died.

Of all the things Pan has reviewed for his Worst Cartoons Ever series, this is definitely the least bad. This one is at least watchable. It's biggest problem is that it's just rushed. The Masters Blasters, Danny giving up his powers a la Spider-Man 2 and the Disasteroid should have all been for their own episodes instead of conglomerated into one movie.
The writers are weird for that one. I know its been a theoretical debate in existentialism but to basically put in a kids tv show “that if you are without the thing that makes you unique/special then you are less of a human being, less meaningful” is kind of weird, fucked up, and just a wrong message for children lol
Define dark. Because the last thing we need is it turned into Batman with ghost powers. I think if it does return, it needs to keep a similar tone to the first two seasons, but add more creepiness and more dead people returning as ghost.
And only if it has vlad in it as well and no one remembers him in phantom planet and he actually acts like himself instead of being all stupid and wanting power like he does in season 3. He was sooo much better before butch hartman ruined him.
Man, I wish they didn't make the finale like this, I mean, seriously, the show is amazing! They shouldn't have made such a un-danny phantom ending, like, it didn't suit the show at all. Since when would Danny just want to get rid of his powers anyway? The ending with Valerie finding out about masters was ten times better, and it wasn't even the finale.
Just the beginning shows such horrible mischaracterization. Danny doesn’t save the town to be famous. He saves the town because he wants people to be safe.

Imagine something like this, just imagine it: Danny's parents discover Danny's secret. They have a fight. Danny accidentally hurt his parents. He runs away. Danny's parents think for a while of how good of parents they are. The Clock ghost accidentally lost the termo and Dan escapes. He kills Danny, and got to cause trouble again. Clock go to the past, and make the past Danny to reveal his secret to his parents earlier. Danny realizes that the world now is victim of Dan Phantom, again. The whole Fenton Family, and some of the ghosts decide to help. The Fenton family unite their forces and ends forever with Dan. Danny's parents acept him. Everybody is happy. At the end, a scene of Danny in the future, already outaged him evil persona. And I know it sucks. If you wanna, detail it more.
I blame Sam's toxic personality rubbing off on Jazz and Tucker. I mean I can wholeheartedly say that if Sam wasn't in the picture I doubt that neither Jazz nor Tucker would have acted like that

I know that this is a super hero cartoon, but I always find it so stupid when civilians can't tell a super hero's identity when their alter ego is just either a pallet swap, or only has a slight change in the design. "Wow, whose the charismatic flying guy with no mask, no helmet, and very distinct facial features that remind me of someone I see everyday who always seem to disappear when there's an obligatory villain attack and come back right after they're defeated?" Five minutes later... "Hey Clark Kent, the guy who works at the Daily Planet who somehow resembles Super Man, but clearly isn't him... Where'd you go just now?" His response: " Oh, I just went for a brisk walk".
To be fair Superman doesn't have distinct facial features and lives in a huge city also at least Clark slouches and and pads out his shirt to make himself look overweight.

Butch said that ectoplasm is only compatible with specific DNA, which has only included Fenton and Masters DNA so far. Anyone else would have gotten fried in the portal...for some reason. This was only addressed outside of the show, which also makes no sense, because those plot holes still exist to an ordinary viewer.

The only reason it worked for Danny again is because of either shitty writing (which probably explains why his powers were STRIPPED instead of the portal doing nothing to him or enhancing his powers and giving him more) or because his DNA was still altered

I can honestly say this is a trope I've always hated in works of fiction: The hero decides to give up his/her powers and go back to leading a normal life...and suddenly EVERYBODY treats them like dirt for it, completely forgetting all the hero has gone through on their behalf. Who cares about all the good you've done in the past? This one act of selfishness, which isn't even THAT selfish, somehow makes you an irredeemable monster, and they only stop when the hero takes up the mantle again and the status quo is back in place. This is a horrible lesson, in my eyes, as it's the equivalent of saying "You have no right to pursue your own happiness, and if you try, that makes you selfish and worthy of ridicule. You gotta be what WE want you to be and serve the whims of those around you for life. Don't like it? Deal with it!" I don't blame Danny for doing what he did, as it showed at the end of the day, despite his powers, he's still human, and he has doubts, frustrations and desires like the rest of us. Also, Sam and Tucker had nothing to lose in this situation while Danny had EVERYTHING to lose! His family, his friends, everything. Like other people been saying, the way his so-called "friends" handled the situation, especially their lack of sympathy, was wrong on so many levels. They're not the ones constantly putting their lives at risk in life-or-death battles, or having their grades suffer, or being hunted down by everybody and everything. Yes, he's not always the best-behaved at using his powers, but I'd bet money Sam and Tucker wouldn't be using them HALF as responsibly as Danny has yet for some reason they get to tell him how he should live his life. I'm reminded of an old quote by somebody of how you "know who your real friends are when you're down on your luck" or something along those lines. I swear, poor kid's gonna need so much therapy when he gets older. Would be nice to read a fic where and Sam and Tucker get called out on the horrid way they treated Danny. If anybody knows of one, I'd appreciate it.
At the very least, Tucker said he was happy for Danny. Albeit in a very sad and guilt-trippy kind of way but he at least said it. Sam and even Danny’s sister Jazz just made it about themselves.
Oh, Tucker Phantom and King Tuck perfectly show that Tucker IS NOT even remotely as responsible as Danny if he is given power (which makes me ask why the series decided to make him mayor in this finale).
I remember watching this finale as a kid. I believe I was 10 years old at the time, and I often remember not having fond memories of this. I hated how cliche and un-creative the ending was. Even as a kid I thought of way better ideas on how to end the finale. Here's two that I can recall from the top of my head. 1. Have Danny throughout the finale struggle to confess his feeling towards Sam. Instead of this dumb plot with the master blasters that not too many people care about, let's focus on what was already established throughout the show's history. Though I personally never shipped Sam and Danny, it would have been nice to explore why the two end up with each other. This method would have allowed the audience to see their relationship as something tangible, rather than what's to be expected for a kid show back in the 2000s. More importantly, this gives the audience a chance to relate to Danny since his romance would've allowed us to see a new more interesting side of him. It also helps with my 2nd idea. 2. We can still have the plot with the meteor, but in my vision I would've let Danny destroy the meteor in some way and let the meteor's destruction be the catalyst for why he loses his powers, not all, but most. As the TV movie continues he realizes that he can't get all of his powers back from the ghost portal. He tries fight ghost with less than half of his powers and soon realizes how dangerous his job has become and wonders whether he should continue crime fighting. While all this drama is going on, Danny is living as a normal boy. He's trying to explore this side of his life more, and wants to get into a relationship with Sam. By the end of the movie he somehow get's his powers back involving a plot with Vlad. Please note that this isn't me trying to pull a cop out. I'm doing my best to remember what I thought up as a kid. Back to the point at hand. If we were to combine these two ideas I just gave, we would've ended up with a much more interesting narrative. Looking back at this finale 10 years later as an adult it's a lot more stupid and offensive than I remembered. I hate all the moments of Danny's friends and family bashing him for making a personal decision on wanting to be a ghost hunter. Did none of the writer not see how bad that was, honestly?
See, they easily could have had the plot of Danny's friends missing his super powers while also making them not seem like assholes. Simply have them be happy he's normal but feel sad that its the end of an era, then show how shitty things are with the Master Blasters to really illustrate how much better of a protector Danny was so when they want him to be Danny Phantom again it isn't because "Waahh, you not cool super hero anymore!" it is instead "With you gone, we are left in the hands of greedy jerks." which is a reasonable thing to be mad at. Also, instead of just saying "Work even harder!" for the dumb plan at the start, they could have just went "Capture the ghost faster than the Master Blasters, your ghost sense will track them faster than any tech the Master Blasters have so you have an edge over them". In this way, it doesn't sound like an idiotic plan but an intelligent one that uses established powers to benefit and progress the story instead of "Just work harder".

I hope you review Wishology, or The Fairly Odd Parents Saga as it's known in Latin America, where they create a shit ton of lore just for an epic science fantasy story that seems like a series finale while making tired parodies and references to movies like Matrix or LotR, only to be non-canon at the end. I never watched the whole thing, but I would like to see your thoughts on it.
To be honest Wishology being one giant reference-fest completely with uncaring desire to just fuckin roll with it through all three parts absolutely sold the fucking thing for me. Plus a lot of the characters we saw often plus Timmy's allies had an actual role to play as the protagonist. Plus Brandon Fraser.

She had two small cameos: 1. She was the "amateur-ghost hunter" Vlad talked about, that was blasted and fell into a garbage truck (way to treat a fan-favorite character, folks...) 2. She was part of the control team on the North pole and was briefly seen in the crowd when Danny revealed himself to be Danny Phantom. (And she cheered... for some reason. If I discovered that the person I like and the person I hate are the same being I would probably have a mental breakdown)
Well, no-where to be HEARD then...because having Danny's archnemesis/love interest being a major player during the season finale wouldn't be smart at aaaaaaaaaall! ALSO-I always felt she and Danny made more sense than Danny and Sam. Hell I honestly thought Tucker and Sam made more sense.
I agree. Sam being Danny's love interest was an awful decision. They barely had any romantic chemistry and Sam and Tucker at least had a rivalry that could've developed into a romance over time (I think they chose against it because Trixie and Spud from American Dragon: Jake Long had a similar plotline and they didn't want to be accused of ripping each other off. Just a theory.)
Probably, BUT-they took the easy route and went with the "Childhood love" bullcrap we've been subjected to for eons. I have seen that work only ONCE in Kim Possible, and that was because for the first two seasons Kim and Ron DIDN'T pine for each other, and grew new feelings over time. Sam's pining for Danny was just more of the same, and if they wanted to be creative they could've had it so that Sam got over Danny(and vice-versa) and have them both try something new.
I feel as if Butch Hartman tries way too hard to be hip and cool and pushing for Danny Phantoms return. He's like that grandpa who tries hard to relate with their grandkids. Still, you have to admire and respect him for trying it. But I feel as if he's making it really clear that he has no interest in his newer shows and wants to do Danny Phantom again. Like, every other video of his has something to do with Danny Phantom. Also, he blocked me for telling him Doogle sucks, so there's that.
Like most of the comments below addressed, I felt extremely miffed with how Danny's friends reacted to Danny losing his powers, *especially* Sam, like we know you guys love adventures and all but god forbid Danny to be allowed to have a normal life with no powers amongst his family and friends AWAY FROM DANGER FOR ALL OF THEM MIGHT I ADD.If Danny's so called "friends" are so desperate for adventure they can all go look for a way to try to be ghost instead ? And Sam saying he is not the Danny she knows, she is freaking implying that he is simply nothing without his ghost powers, like girl before all this mess with ghost powers happening HE WAS STILL YOUR FRIEND, HE WAS AND IS STILL DANNY , and he clearly stated multiple times its for her and the others protection, she could have at least appreciated that instead of being selfish, and if she truly did love him she should have accepted him the way he is, for gods sake let the guy enjoy being normal without guilt tripping him for something he doesn't deserve. Honestly I don't know what the writers were thinking turning Danny's friends into selfish jerks, the writing for the episode was kind of a mess but the characters ooc is the biggest thing that bugged me and didn't help me enjoy the episode as much, the finale just cemented to me that in conclusion Danny deserves much better friends...
I AGREE 1000%! I hate how people justify Sam's behavior in this episode. But she's mistreating him for something he wanted for ages: to be a normal kid again. Yet all she cares about is him being """"special"""". Like alright, I see where your priorities lie. People are blind if they don't see that it's an unhealthy friendship (and relationship) in the beginning.
The worst part is this episode could fix Sam already flawed character and make they getting together logical if she was on Danny's side (everyone else feels on character since Jazz got closer to him cause his powers and tucker was always kind of childish) they just needed to make Sam understand Danny's reasons to forsake his powers and being supportive of his decisions (maybe saying that she'll be there for him no matter what) and that will fox her character a lot then they could have Danny realizing on his own or maybe with Clockwork's help that his family and friends are more in danger with Vlad's rule and that quiting being hero isn't the answer and there you have it a good ending

This movie and the last few episodes of the series made me hate that Danny and Sam got together, honestly, at first it seemed like they'd make an okay couple, but after how selfish Sam seemed to be after a while, it gave me flashbacks to certain relationships I've had to deal with. Seriously, this has the makings for a toxic relationship. Guilt tripping into getting what she wants, being selfish and ungrateful for what Danny gave her and did for her, knowing full-well that Danny has been having problems juggling all these aspects of his life and STILL guilt-tripping him for taking a break or retiring when the city seems to be protected? (not to mention shoving her views down everyone's throats every five minutes.) it's just ringing so many alarm bells for me. Even when I was a kid watching this I knew something was wrong.

Eye for an Eye he starts acting childishly immature towards Danny; Vlad get's 2 different cats both named Maddie & we never know what happened to the 1st one; Vortex the dead Weatherman ghost bests Vlad by inadvertently giving Danny weather-controlling abilities; that blasted Livin' Large buntcake scene; and then Phantom Planet!

Honestly what ruined Danny Phantom wasn't just Phantom Planet or the entire third season, it was focusing more screen time on Sam goddamn Manson, aka the most toxic and worst charectar Butch Hartman has ever created, aka the goth equivalent to Paulina.
Wow. I'm glad I never saw this episode when it ran. The last episode in the Danny Phantom universe and a good portion of the run time is devoted to Danny's sister and closest friends all turning into selfish dicks and guilt-tripping him for making a really serious, hard decision that he honestly thought would be the best for everyone, not just himself. He's making a really mature decision, compromising his own goals and aspirations in favor of doing what's best for the people he cares about, but they're like, "Well you're not special anymore, so fuck you, I guess." Then they turn the whole thing around on him and act like HE'S the one being a selfish asshole. Like, no. That's not how real friends act. True friends support each other's decisions. It's poor writing. It throws out everything we know about the characters from 3 seasons worth of development, just for the sake of a really bad plot contrivance. It may sound like I'm over reacting, but it kind of poisons their whole characters for me. I mean I guess I shouldn't be surprised considering the entire plot of this "finale" is composed of contrivances and out-of-nowhere plot devices, but still. You're taking characters we as an audience have gotten to know, making them into complete jerks for no reason, and then wrapping it all up at the end like none of it ever happened. And that's your big send off? Yeah, worst cartoon finale ever. 100% agreed.
I wouldn’t mind if the entirety of Season 3 were remade but with Steve Marmel at the helm as the main showrunner over Butch. While I still enjoy the season as mindless entertainment for me, story wise and characterization wise, it’s fucking dreadful.

Its kinda portrayed in the last season that Danny is the Chosen One. Other than that, the only unique power Danny had was the Ghostly Wail. Even the ice powers are portrayed to also be in Vlad's as it stems from his Ghost Sense, he just was never sick to develop it.
I can't believe how Sam, Tucker and Jazz were acting when Danny got rid of his powers. They act like he's a complete nobody because he no longer has his abilities. Like the only reason they stuck around was because he had these powers. That really breaks down the foundation of the friendship Danny had with Sam and Tucker and the relationship he had with his sister.
I remember overhearing a conversation between some of my friends that their personal headcanon was that the "Ultimate Enemy" story was the true ending of the story -- the one where Danny accidentally murders everyone he cares about, gets his ghost parts mixed with Vlad's ghost parts, and becomes evil -- and Phantom Planet was a complete fabrication from Danny's shattered psyche.
Wait - If that meteor was like kryptonite for ghost wouldn't that mean that when meteor was touching ghostly-earth he will be able to erase ghost materia (Destroying most of the world in the process) or just canceled that "ghost aura" making that all thing pointless and destroying the planet anyway?

Guess I never really actively analyzed the story and just went with it. Dont get me wrong Pan's definently got a point with most of the problems he listed. They just didn't bother me as much. But hey, at least it did tie a lot of the sub plots up. Dannys parents now know his hero persona, danny and sam got together, tucker got recognition for his intelligence (even if it was really dumb what with him somehow becoming mayor), Vlad finally got outed for his douchebaggery both as a human and a ghost including Jack realizing it to, etc.
NeutralGuyDoubleZero - Yeah, I really liked the scene where Jack is with Vlad in the space shuttle and he's astonished and hurt by Vlad holding the entire world hostage and how Vlad harbored such resentment towards him. Then when Vlad fails to stop the meteor and Vlad begs Jack, insisting "You wouldn't leave an old friend behind, right?" To which Jack says coldly: "An old friend? No. You? Yes." It was so satisfying to see Jack, the oblivious goofball always sucking up to Vlad, finally see Vlad for who he is and reject him. I always felt deep sympathy for Vlad, but he chose his path.

At least in American Dragon, Trixie was just Jake's friend, and they did not try to pair them by force. I wish Valerie would not have tried to kill Danny, so they would have finished together.
I really wish they had brought back the Ghost King for the finale. He could have outed Vlad by forcing him to transform to defend himself, kicked his butt, and forced him to change back in public. Given that Vlad's biggest weakness is that he needs to keep his ghost-half secret just as much if not more than Danny, ruining his reputation would have been good revenge.

They did cover that much at least, it was said that Vlad's satellite exploding is what pushed the asteroid off course. It's something he would have never built in that timeline
As a kid I hated Sam, Tucker, and Jazz’s attitude when Danny switched. They were all so out of character and selfish. I was so confused at their bitterness, that when I first watched I thought they were evil clones or that it was some sort of alternate reality/dream sequence where Danny’s support system is full of assholes and there’s a ghost meteor fsr. Then when the series just ended with no explanation to all that nonsense child me was extra confused. Tbh I’m 21 now and still confused.

I heard Steve Marmel was fired was because he wanted a change in tone for the show by making everything darker and more mature while creator Butch Hartman wanted things to stay light-hearted and humorous. Unofficially it was over shipping. Steve wanted Danny to end up with Valerie while Butch demanded the final girl be his waifu Sam. It's weird but as strange as that sounds, I believe it.
Wouldn't be a surprise if that is true because Butch Hartman is an greedy egotistical hack that takes credit for being what made his shows good. He probably hates taking risks and the only risks he takes is continuing to ruin his legacy.

I belive ghost powers work by the ghost changing a objects phisycal properties by aplying and charging the object with the correct frequency and amount of ghost energie for that particular change. I also belive that the reason why the ectoranium can't be changed is because this element either rejects ghost energie or has a neutralizing high enegy exotermical reaction (thus the sparks and impossibility to touch by ghosts) as soon as ghost energy is aplied.
Ghosts constantly realece a a small amount of energy (thus the aura and ectosignature), that way they will always react when touching ectoranium.
But intangible objects simply have their physical status altered and do not release ghost energy.
At least that is how I make sence of it.

The worst thing about this season is just how forgettable it is. Same with this final episode. If you ask any Danny Phantom fan what their favorite episode or Ghost or character is, it will not be from this season.
This season just aggravates me because it completely ignores everything that made Danny Phantom work before and it ultimately just feels like Butch with this season said “who cares?”
Who cares that the majority of the season is just ghosts we don’t know or won’t remember and only have knock off episodes of that are nowhere near as fun or entertaining as previous episodes?
Who cares that Valerie never finds out Danny’s secret and that we don’t have an emotionally impactful resolution to either their rivalry or the aftermath of their feelings for one another?
Who cares that Dan Phantom, the best villain in the entire show doesn’t come back for a fiery vengeance and challenge Danny again?
Who cares that Sam and Tucker, Danny’s most solid support system are completely out of character this season and act like complete assholes to Danny?
Who cares that Tucker becoming the Mayor is even more stupid than Vlad being it?
Who cares that Dani Phantom shows up only at the end of the season?
Who cares that Valerie who finds out Vlad’s identity never has any episodes this season about her hunting him and getting revenge on being tricked? Who cares that she is barely in this season and that at the final episode she doesn’t care that Danny is a ghost?
Who cares about how forced and unnatural Danny and Sam getting together feels this season?
Who cares about the deal Fright Knight made with Vlad and the implications behind it? Who cares that we never see anything come from that partnership?
And of course, who cares that Pariah Dark, who was locked away forever in Reign Storm, somehow helps Danny save the earth and no one notices?
Just who cares about anything that made the show interesting? Not Butch this season. That’s for sure.

Danny Phantom was a great animated series that went out in a terrible way, especially when the final episode can't seem to come up with a clear direction for where it wants to go. You have basically jerkass superheroes taking Danny's place, Danny losing his powers, capturing all the ghosts and convincing them to help him, and an asteroid made out of Kryptonite that just comes out of nowhere and can basically kill ghosts...
I mean, they could have made the finale the return of the evil Danny Phantom from the future, but this is what they went with instead... this was an embarrassing way to go out.

Completely freaking agree. Danny's friends were so freaking unsupportive of his decision to have a normal life. I was really wondering how they just couldn't be happy for him, like they only liked him because he was a superhero, and then it's framed as if Danny were the selfish one.
Also, I never felt Danny and Sam made a compelling couple. It felt like it was there because they were both male and female leads and that's it.

Of all the things Pan has reviewed for his Worst Cartoons Ever series, this is definitely the least bad. This one is at least watchable. It's biggest problem is that it's just rushed. The Masters Blasters, Danny giving up his powers a la Spider-Man 2 and the Disasteroid should have all been for their own episodes instead of conglomerated into one movie.
The writers are weird for that one. I know its been a theoretical debate in existentialism but to basically put in a kids tv show “that if you are without the thing that makes you unique/special then you are less of a human being, less meaningful” is kind of weird, fucked up, and just a wrong message for children lol

Imagine something like this, just imagine it:
Danny's parents discover Danny's secret. They have a fight. Danny accidentally hurt his parents. He runs away.
Danny's parents think for a while of how good of parents they are.
The Clock ghost accidentally lost the termo and Dan escapes. He kills Danny, and got to cause trouble again.
Clock go to the past, and make the past Danny to reveal his secret to his parents earlier. Danny realizes that the world now is victim of Dan Phantom, again.
The whole Fenton Family, and some of the ghosts decide to help. The Fenton family unite their forces and ends forever with Dan.
Danny's parents acept him. Everybody is happy.
At the end, a scene of Danny in the future, already outaged him evil persona.
And I know it sucks. If you wanna, detail it more.
He deserves his own standalone again.

I know that this is a super hero cartoon, but I always find it so stupid when civilians can't tell a super hero's identity when their alter ego is just either a pallet swap, or only has a slight change in the design. "Wow, whose the charismatic flying guy with no mask, no helmet, and very distinct facial features that remind me of someone I see everyday who always seem to disappear when there's an obligatory villain attack and come back right after they're defeated?" Five minutes later... "Hey Clark Kent, the guy who works at the Daily Planet who somehow resembles Super Man, but clearly isn't him... Where'd you go just now?" His response: " Oh, I just went for a brisk walk".
To be fair Superman doesn't have distinct facial features and lives in a huge city also at least Clark slouches and and pads out his shirt to make himself look overweight.

Butch said that ectoplasm is only compatible with specific DNA, which has only included Fenton and Masters DNA so far. Anyone else would have gotten fried in the portal...for some reason. This was only addressed outside of the show, which also makes no sense, because those plot holes still exist to an ordinary viewer.

The only reason it worked for Danny again is because of either shitty writing (which probably explains why his powers were STRIPPED instead of the portal doing nothing to him or enhancing his powers and giving him more) or because his DNA was still altered

I can honestly say this is a trope I've always hated in works of fiction: The hero decides to give up his/her powers and go back to leading a normal life...and suddenly EVERYBODY treats them like dirt for it, completely forgetting all the hero has gone through on their behalf. Who cares about all the good you've done in the past? This one act of selfishness, which isn't even THAT selfish, somehow makes you an irredeemable monster, and they only stop when the hero takes up the mantle again and the status quo is back in place.
This is a horrible lesson, in my eyes, as it's the equivalent of saying "You have no right to pursue your own happiness, and if you try, that makes you selfish and worthy of ridicule. You gotta be what WE want you to be and serve the whims of those around you for life. Don't like it? Deal with it!"
I don't blame Danny for doing what he did, as it showed at the end of the day, despite his powers, he's still human, and he has doubts, frustrations and desires like the rest of us. Also, Sam and Tucker had nothing to lose in this situation while Danny had EVERYTHING to lose! His family, his friends, everything. Like other people been saying, the way his so-called "friends" handled the situation, especially their lack of sympathy, was wrong on so many levels.
They're not the ones constantly putting their lives at risk in life-or-death battles, or having their grades suffer, or being hunted down by everybody and everything. Yes, he's not always the best-behaved at using his powers, but I'd bet money Sam and Tucker wouldn't be using them HALF as responsibly as Danny has yet for some reason they get to tell him how he should live his life. I'm reminded of an old quote by somebody of how you "know who your real friends are when you're down on your luck" or something along those lines. I swear, poor kid's gonna need so much therapy when he gets older.
Would be nice to read a fic where and Sam and Tucker get called out on the horrid way they treated Danny. If anybody knows of one, I'd appreciate it.

At the very least, Tucker said he was happy for Danny. Albeit in a very sad and guilt-trippy kind of way but he at least said it. Sam and even Danny’s sister Jazz just made it about themselves.

Oh, Tucker Phantom and King Tuck perfectly show that Tucker IS NOT even remotely as responsible as Danny if he is given power (which makes me ask why the series decided to make him mayor in this finale).
I remember watching this finale as a kid. I believe I was 10 years old at the time, and I often remember not having fond memories of this. I hated how cliche and un-creative the ending was. Even as a kid I thought of way better ideas on how to end the finale. Here's two that I can recall from the top of my head.
1. Have Danny throughout the finale struggle to confess his feeling towards Sam. Instead of this dumb plot with the master blasters that not too many people care about, let's focus on what was already established throughout the show's history. Though I personally never shipped Sam and Danny, it would have been nice to explore why the two end up with each other. This method would have allowed the audience to see their relationship as something tangible, rather than what's to be expected for a kid show back in the 2000s. More importantly, this gives the audience a chance to relate to Danny since his romance would've allowed us to see a new more interesting side of him. It also helps with my 2nd idea.
2. We can still have the plot with the meteor, but in my vision I would've let Danny destroy the meteor in some way and let the meteor's destruction be the catalyst for why he loses his powers, not all, but most. As the TV movie continues he realizes that he can't get all of his powers back from the ghost portal. He tries fight ghost with less than half of his powers and soon realizes how dangerous his job has become and wonders whether he should continue crime fighting. While all this drama is going on, Danny is living as a normal boy. He's trying to explore this side of his life more, and wants to get into a relationship with Sam. By the end of the movie he somehow get's his powers back involving a plot with Vlad. Please note that this isn't me trying to pull a cop out. I'm doing my best to remember what I thought up as a kid. Back to the point at hand. If we were to combine these two ideas I just gave, we would've ended up with a much more interesting narrative.
Looking back at this finale 10 years later as an adult it's a lot more stupid and offensive than I remembered. I hate all the moments of Danny's friends and family bashing him for making a personal decision on wanting to be a ghost hunter. Did none of the writer not see how bad that was, honestly?

See, they easily could have had the plot of Danny's friends missing his super powers while also making them not seem like assholes. Simply have them be happy he's normal but feel sad that its the end of an era, then show how shitty things are with the Master Blasters to really illustrate how much better of a protector Danny was so when they want him to be Danny Phantom again it isn't because "Waahh, you not cool super hero anymore!" it is instead "With you gone, we are left in the hands of greedy jerks." which is a reasonable thing to be mad at. Also, instead of just saying "Work even harder!" for the dumb plan at the start, they could have just went "Capture the ghost faster than the Master Blasters, your ghost sense will track them faster than any tech the Master Blasters have so you have an edge over them". In this way, it doesn't sound like an idiotic plan but an intelligent one that uses established powers to benefit and progress the story instead of "Just work harder".
"Tucker the Black Nerd Comedy". That was great. I hope you review Wishology, or The Fairly Odd Parents Saga as it's known in Latin America, where they create a shit ton of lore just for an epic science fantasy story that seems like a series finale while making tired parodies and references to movies like Matrix or LotR, only to be non-canon at the end. I never watched the whole thing, but I would like to see your thoughts on it.

She had two small cameos:
1. She was the "amateur-ghost hunter" Vlad talked about, that was blasted and fell into a garbage truck (way to treat a fan-favorite character, folks...)
2. She was part of the control team on the North pole and was briefly seen in the crowd when Danny revealed himself to be Danny Phantom. (And she cheered... for some reason. If I discovered that the person I like and the person I hate are the same being I would probably have a mental breakdown)
Well, no-where to be HEARD then...because having Danny's archnemesis/love interest being a major player during the season finale wouldn't be smart at aaaaaaaaaall! ALSO-I always felt she and Danny made more sense than Danny and Sam. Hell I honestly thought Tucker and Sam made more sense.

They barely had any romantic chemistry and Sam and Tucker at least had a rivalry that could've developed into a romance over time (I think they chose against it because Trixie and Spud from American Dragon: Jake Long had a similar plotline and they didn't want to be accused of ripping each other off. Just a theory.)
Probably, BUT-they took the easy route and went with the "Childhood love" bullcrap we've been subjected to for eons. I have seen that work only ONCE in Kim Possible, and that was because for the first two seasons Kim and Ron DIDN'T pine for each other, and grew new feelings over time. Sam's pining for Danny was just more of the same, and if they wanted to be creative they could've had it so that Sam got over Danny(and vice-versa) and have them both try something new.
Honestly, Danny and Valerie should've been the final couple and Sam should've gone back to Gregor.

Like most of the comments below addressed, I felt extremely miffed with how Danny's friends reacted to Danny losing his powers, *especially* Sam, like we know you guys love adventures and all but god forbid Danny to be allowed to have a normal life with no powers amongst his family and friends AWAY FROM DANGER FOR ALL OF THEM MIGHT I ADD.If Danny's so called "friends" are so desperate for adventure they can all go look for a way to try to be ghost instead ? And Sam saying he is not the Danny she knows, she is freaking implying that he is simply nothing without his ghost powers, like girl before all this mess with ghost powers happening HE WAS STILL YOUR FRIEND, HE WAS AND IS STILL DANNY , and he clearly stated multiple times its for her and the others protection, she could have at least appreciated that instead of being selfish, and if she truly did love him she should have accepted him the way he is, for gods sake let the guy enjoy being normal without guilt tripping him for something he doesn't deserve. Honestly I don't know what the writers were thinking turning Danny's friends into selfish jerks, the writing for the episode was kind of a mess but the characters ooc is the biggest thing that bugged me and didn't help me enjoy the episode as much, the finale just cemented to me that in conclusion Danny deserves much better friends...
I AGREE 1000%! I hate how people justify Sam's behavior in this episode. But she's mistreating him for something he wanted for ages: to be a normal kid again. Yet all she cares about is him being """"special"""". Like alright, I see where your priorities lie. People are blind if they don't see that it's an unhealthy friendship (and relationship) in the beginning.

The worst part is this episode could fix Sam already flawed character and make they getting together logical if she was on Danny's side (everyone else feels on character since Jazz got closer to him cause his powers and tucker was always kind of childish) they just needed to make Sam understand Danny's reasons to forsake his powers and being supportive of his decisions (maybe saying that she'll be there for him no matter what) and that will fox her character a lot then they could have Danny realizing on his own or maybe with Clockwork's help that his family and friends are more in danger with Vlad's rule and that quiting being hero isn't the answer and there you have it a good ending

This movie and the last few episodes of the series made me hate that Danny and Sam got together, honestly, at first it seemed like they'd make an okay couple, but after how selfish Sam seemed to be after a while, it gave me flashbacks to certain relationships I've had to deal with. Seriously, this has the makings for a toxic relationship.
Guilt tripping into getting what she wants, being selfish and ungrateful for what Danny gave her and did for her, knowing full-well that Danny has been having problems juggling all these aspects of his life and STILL guilt-tripping him for taking a break or retiring when the city seems to be protected? (not to mention shoving her views down everyone's throats every five minutes.) it's just ringing so many alarm bells for me. Even when I was a kid watching this I knew something was wrong.

Honestly what ruined Danny Phantom wasn't just Phantom Planet or the entire third season, it was focusing more screen time on Sam goddamn Manson, aka the most toxic and worst charectar Butch Hartman has ever created, aka the goth equivalent to Paulina.
Wow. I'm glad I never saw this episode when it ran. The last episode in the Danny Phantom universe and a good portion of the run time is devoted to Danny's sister and closest friends all turning into selfish dicks and guilt-tripping him for making a really serious, hard decision that he honestly thought would be the best for everyone, not just himself. He's making a really mature decision, compromising his own goals and aspirations in favor of doing what's best for the people he cares about, but they're like, "Well you're not special anymore, so fuck you, I guess." Then they turn the whole thing around on him and act like HE'S the one being a selfish asshole. Like, no. That's not how real friends act. True friends support each other's decisions.
It's poor writing. It throws out everything we know about the characters from 3 seasons worth of development, just for the sake of a really bad plot contrivance. It may sound like I'm over reacting, but it kind of poisons their whole characters for me. I mean I guess I shouldn't be surprised considering the entire plot of this "finale" is composed of contrivances and out-of-nowhere plot devices, but still. You're taking characters we as an audience have gotten to know, making them into complete jerks for no reason, and then wrapping it all up at the end like none of it ever happened. And that's your big send off?

It made no sense. Vlad is Danny’s rival and an antagonist but he wasn’t exactly a real evil villain. Vlad fought with Danny alot but he never hated Danny and he did secretly care for him. Making vlad power hungry was stupid cause he’s already rich and the mayor why would he wanna rule the world? Vlad wouldn’t bother with that. It’s really annoying. And why is vlad suddenly weaker than Danny? I like vlad always being stronger. Vlad has had his powers for 20 years Danny has had his for less than 1 year. He can’t just suddenly become stronger or close in the same amount of strength as vlad. It was better when the way Danny beat vlad was through tricking him or making a truce with him than ever being able to really beat vlad physically or without some sort of special weapon

Von Steiner I have a feeling that Nickelodeon might be the one to blame; since this is the series finale(which is strange since Butch Hartman had more ideas for this show to continue, and it didn't suffer low ratings) they probably forced the creative team to rush through this episode so that they can pull the plug on this show.

Most ghosts have unique powers in-universe.
Some ghost probably have powers that reflect their souls personality. But Danny is half ghost. So maybe half his soul is ghostafied? Idk, its a cartoon superhero movie. Its basically a better version of Gohan at school
Its kinda portrayed in the last season that Danny is the Chosen One.
Other than that, the only unique power Danny had was the Ghostly Wail. Even the ice powers are portrayed to also be in Vlad's as it stems from his Ghost Sense, he just was never sick to develop it.

I can't believe how Sam, Tucker and Jazz were acting when Danny got rid of his powers. They act like he's a complete nobody because he no longer has his abilities. Like the only reason they stuck around was because he had these powers. That really breaks down the foundation of the friendship Danny had with Sam and Tucker and the relationship he had with his sister.
I remember overhearing a conversation between some of my friends that their personal headcanon was that the "Ultimate Enemy" story was the true ending of the story -- the one where Danny accidentally murders everyone he cares about, gets his ghost parts mixed with Vlad's ghost parts, and becomes evil -- and Phantom Planet was a complete fabrication from Danny's shattered psyche.
Wait - If that meteor was like kryptonite for ghost wouldn't that mean that when meteor was touching ghostly-earth he will be able to erase ghost materia (Destroying most of the world in the process) or just canceled that "ghost aura" making that all thing pointless and destroying the planet anyway?
I hope he reviews Scooby Doo and the Witch's Ghost some day. I want to see his reaction to the Hex Girls.

+Chill Player 123 I thought it was, at least when you take the flaws pan pointed out into account. I guess I currently classify it as mediocre since I always liked the finale before I saw his video. Guess I never really actively analyzed the story and just went with it. Dont get me wrong Pan's definently got a point with most of the problems he listed. They just didn't bother me as much.
But hey, at least it did tie a lot of the sub plots up. Dannys parents now know his hero persona, danny and sam got together, tucker got recognition for his intelligence (even if it was really dumb what with him somehow becoming mayor), Vlad finally got outed for his douchebaggery both as a human and a ghost including Jack realizing it to, etc.
NeutralGuyDoubleZero - Yeah, I really liked the scene where Jack is with Vlad in the space shuttle and he's astonished and hurt by Vlad holding the entire world hostage and how Vlad harbored such resentment towards him. Then when Vlad fails to stop the meteor and Vlad begs Jack, insisting "You wouldn't leave an old friend behind, right?" To which Jack says coldly: "An old friend? No. You? Yes."
It was so satisfying to see Jack, the oblivious goofball always sucking up to Vlad, finally see Vlad for who he is and reject him.
I always felt deep sympathy for Vlad, but he chose his path.

I really wish they had brought back the Ghost King for the finale. He could have outed Vlad by forcing him to transform to defend himself, kicked his butt, and forced him to change back in public. Given that Vlad's biggest weakness is that he needs to keep his ghost-half secret just as much if not more than Danny, ruining his reputation would have been good revenge.

That's because Steve Marmell had the good sense to flesh him out a bit and give him a bit of humanity... WAIT A MINUTE! I also realized that, speaking of The Ultimate Enemy, the alternate timeline took place years after the Ectoranium meteor would have destroyed Earth, and I highly doubt even the OP evil Danny Phantom would have made the Earth intangible on his own. This TV movie has a plot hole!
They did cover that much at least, it was said that Vlad's satellite exploding is what pushed the asteroid off course. It's something he would have never built in that timeline
As a kid I hated Sam, Tucker, and Jazz’s attitude when Danny switched. They were all so out of character and selfish. I was so confused at their bitterness, that when I first watched I thought they were evil clones or that it was some sort of alternate reality/dream sequence where Danny’s support system is full of assholes and there’s a ghost meteor fsr. Then when the series just ended with no explanation to all that nonsense child me was extra confused. Tbh I’m 21 now and still confused.
