its better that way sometimes, it makes the hero's life that more impactful, like a martyr, also its more realistic cuz in the real world the bad guys win most of the time

I really liked how they went out of their way to show that wacky gang antics montage in episode 4, making it seem like the world revolves around Maine's crew for that short moment, only to immediately take you out of it by Pilar unceremoniously getting blown into a pile of meat
I like how Adam smasher isn't even main villain at the story and yet he came in like a boss and completely slaughter everyone
In a fun way, that's almost a reference to the tabletop RPG, where Adam Smasher is sorta treated as a boss that you can just drop in to give your players a reality check when they get too cocky.

Yeah, you don't see that victory much in anime so Edgerunner probably was a shock for a lot of anime watchers, but could have a little more fighting but his voice in the western dub is amazing
I really liked that the anime didn't leave for a cliche ending, Adam really is a legend and he beat David, the unhappy ending was already expected, but I cried a lot watching this last episode, Cyberpunk will certainly be marked in my memory.

I mean it was heroic tho, she could have fled and lived but she chose to get david to his girl at arasaka despite knowing its absolute suicide and she still went out blasting literally, so yeah that's pretty heroic if u ask me
Rebecca was obviously in love with David, so getting Lucy back together with him denies her any chance of hooking up. She's the ultimate ride or die bitch and she's going nowhere. She made sure David and Lucy got as close as possible to their Happily Ever After, at the cost of her own life. That's heroic asf
I mean, she was killed by Adam Smasher. That's a pretty great way to go. To die from a legend and not some random cyberpsycho pissing into a metal barrel or being betrayed by a two bit fixer.
It's funny how the male groups all look like they've been soul-sucked by this ending.

man, english dub really did a great job, in the last episode they perfectly show the emotions, for me, its in the same level of quality than the japanese one
Yeah, same with Chainsaw Man - the VA was top for them both and was bouncing between Cyberpunk Japanese and Western.

Wasted this episode yesterday and that was my reaction too. I expected David to die since episode 1 for the nature of the story but I really had hope for Rebecca T_T

This was a masterpiece story with a masterful ending. Not sure I’ve ever seen anything this emotional, brutal and real.

they did Rebecca dirty too, that was quite the death... she was a nice character.
Honestly I would rather hope for a rosy cozy heaven to go to with the team rather than staying in that crappy cyber world... so maybe dying wasn't that bad of an end to them, I'd just rather believe that they will have a nice reunion in a better place...

This is the problem with how video games render "big bads" vs how T.V. can render them. Edgerunner's Adam Smasher is the definition of "not giving a flying F about your feeling's" type of villain.
I really do love how CyberPunk Edge runner was basically like a DnD Campaign with the last quest always being the hardest and the most devastating, usually ends with everyone dying and Adam Smasher is the perfect Grim Reaper
Night city is more like a warzone than a city but oh well bad guys usually prevail almost everytime
If you play the game, then V has something to say to that.

Edgerunners was much like Game of Thrones, where you get to know some characters, you think they are the main ones, so you would never think they die and then, BOOM next episode a knife in the hearth or something :D

This just puts into perspective how incredibly god like V is. Most mercs can’t handle a few robots with full auto masamune yet V can use basically unlimited sandevistan, kill most of arasaka tower and kill Adam Smasher in a 1v1. If only David had met V but the anime events happened a year before Vs story.
Now I want to know how V fought Adam smasher Lore wise

V can quickhack Adam smasher or alternatively basically perpetually exist in "Sandevistan-time" if you have the right cyberware equipped. Both of these are unheard of in the verse so the only explaination i can think of is that Alt Cunningham/Jonny boosted the processing power of Vs implants at least during this fight.
Throw in V being basically 75% borg himself without cyberpsychosis and some help from Rogue/Takamura/Panam+Saul and he has a reasonable chance.
