Hey all!!! My 96 exactly the same, just figured something out: After cleaning/greasing I played around with tension on that main spring there. I installed a stronger spring and the that right side spring anchor mechanism didn't get stuck in the upward position anymore, but the opening and shutting (slamming) forces were too high. Started to think about what was keeping that mechanism up instead of snapping back down when it is supposed to. Decided it felt exactly like geometry, i.e. the part pivoted a little too far upward and the spring didn’t have enough advantage. One might call it over centering. I always resist experimenting in a way that can’t be easily reversed so I fashioned a spacer (maybe 1/8”) that clips on to the sheet metal above where the pivoting spring anchor part stops. That is, I didn’t let it pivot up as far. Bingo. Now just have to decide what a permanent fix looks like…
Freeze your video at 13 seconds and you can see the spring has come out of your interior release lever. Put it back in place, and clean up your engine bay latch parts and things will most likely be fine.

@LoboAzul56 Yes I noticed that. I will see if I can put it back but I do not believe the spring has enough strength to do anything up front.
