i think these things will help you quite a bit while learning how to drift: 1. Hide the driver arms in VR. Its kinda confusing because the hands arent doing what they would irl. 2. select a way easier track at the beginning. like the drift track that comes with ac and mess around there. 3. get in the bmw m3 e30 drift car. Perfect for a beginner. enough but not to much power so you feel what you did wrong 4. steer with your throttle not with your wheel. (find the sweetspot of the throttle to hold the drift without spinning and only make really smal adjustments on your wheel) in the best case you pull the ebrake or clutchkick into a turn and let the steeringwheel do 1 full 360° rotation an catch it there. hold the angle with your throttle and turn the wheel 45° left and right to do corrections. that should be enough to hold the drift for the turn. 5. try to stay relaxed. to harsh steering imputs will break the balance of your car. 6. let the car do the work.
Jimmy Broadbent btw a tip for those cars. Dont be afraid to upshift, its better and easier to drive with more angle and if ure close to the max speed of the gear ull be close to snapping back so a small mistake makes u go around rather than just lifting a bit

The understeer you're talking about is because of the massive amounts of steering angle/knuckle that drift cars have - beyond a certain point the wheels aren't really aligned for going forwards so the fronts just start sliding - at that level of steering input the wheels are more aligned to be countersteering than actually turning the car
I can see some places you should improve with. You want to let the wheel slide through your hands. Catch it when you have enough angle. Steer with the throttle. Want more angle? More throttle. Less angle? Less throttle. Want to transition? Come off the throttle.
You should do another one of these videos Jimmy, would love to see your progress, especially because you've had some experience drifting your scuffed supra now lol
The stock drift cars are the best drift cars in assetto Corsa. The mods are usually half assed POS there are only one or two I can think of as being good. The dw pack and the noriyaro by ziptie. Stay away from dtp. Anywho my suggestion is grab the drift e30 and get on the stock drift track and go from there.
That was quick progress! Just 2 suggestions, 1. Change the course to something flows better like tamada 2. SP mod is pretty dated, try the gothic cars, you'll find the same car in the gothic car pack too!
The sp mod is a dated drift pack with incorrect suspension geometry, although there are few cars with realistic geometry there is an abundance of mods for touge and drifting on acdriftingpro's website. There is one car I personally helped create the "perfect feel" for but is currently removed from all known sites, if you would be interested in it just shoot me a message and I can upload it somewhere or get you the download through google docs.
Its so hard to drive corner to corner and keep it going on assetto corsa. Its very diffrent from a real car because you dont get the feeling of weight transfer grip and what the cars doing its weird.
Main Mistake you make is not letting the wheel flow through your hands. When you do it, it more looks like a truck driver. Throw the wheel or let it flow through your hands. This way you could get a better angle and better driving in general.
if your wheel settings are correct like force feedback. you should kind of be able to let the car steer itself with some minor adjustments you kind of have to let go of the wheel a bit it is weird at the start but if you watch like pro drifters in real life they kind of do the same thing hope this helps a bit love the vids

If you ever decide to try out drifting again, there are a couple of other mod packs that are more realistic compared to irl drift cars, dcgp is one of those that we've used in the Norwegian community. And those handle quite like the real thing

Hey Jimmy! Imo the SP mod is not good for drifting, it is very outdated with the current Kunos tire physics. For next time you should try Noriyaro's r32 mod or the Drift Workshop mod. They are much more easy and realistic. You will enjoy drifting a lot more with those mods. Also if you want you can try with one of my tracks, Setonaikai circuit or Meihan sportland, very popular tracks for drifting!
drifting actually isn't slower if you do it properly (the people who came up with this most likely yank the handbrake expecting to go fast but obviously yanking your handbrake just slows you down)
You should try the S15 mod out of my last drift video, that was for me the best car for drifting in AC. The mod contains 3 version, stock, slightly tuned and heavily tuned, I used the middle one.

You have to get used to letting go of the wheel. I never used to do it but it really helps with flowing through transitions
Needs more caster angle for the steering wheel to autocenter itself when you let go between transitions.

The kunos e30 drift is actually really nice, it practically slides itself. If you want more of a challenge, try the tuned 1m or e92 drift

The car I have most fun with for drifting is the e30 m3 90's tires. Very controllable especially. Had no luck with sp mods cars.
90's tyres are garbage and are so slow. Use Street as a minimum and Semi's for faster tracks.

you gotta left foot brake more and set the brakebias to 45-50%. Use the handbrake after you connected the whole course.
