Parliament Session: During the Budget debate, BJP leader Anurag Thakur quoted Congress MP Shashi Tharoor’s book, which used a Mahabharata metaphor to describe the 1989 political climate, to counter Rahul Gandhi’s recent Mahabharata analogy against the BJP. Thakur's reference aimed to highlight the Congress’s own historical use of similar narratives. In response, Shashi Tharoor defended his literary metaphor, emphasizing that the book was published in 1989 and currently "we are in 2004".
The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.

Shashi Tharoor has not denied the references from his book shared by Anurag Thakur. There is no rule that prevents a member from quoting a book written 35 years ago. So, there is no point in the point of order raised by Tharoor. In fact, he deserves to be congratulated for what he has written.
With respect sir , a write up 35 years ago has no relevance today as at that time the context was different. But Bidla ji and the treasury doesn't know this they just beat about the bush।

Shashi Tharoor, tactically, doesn't seem to understand the difference between satire and spoof. His novel , in question, was a spoof and those who read it thought so too and had a good laugh like when you see Mel Brook movies. Tharoor may try to wriggle out of the embarrassment, appearing to be erudite as usual. Congress leadership is livid ; most of them semi literate , would only now buy the novel and try to read it on the sly. Tharoor can look forward to a windfall income and should thank Anurag Thakur for it. Maybe , as a follow up act , he will write another spoof on BJP leadership based on Ramayan.
