What you demonstrated,is called Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment (EVSE) - it’s a box that communicates with the EV and allows the right current to go through. AC power comes into the car via the EVSE and the onboard charger (more of a converter) converts it to DC and into the battery - when fast charging the AC power gets converted outside of the car in the charger and goes straight into the cars battery - faster.

I dont think that the mall allows us to charge. we did that at chinatown point and the security guard unplugged the charger and he lock the plug
