    I've made cellophane wings before, and they were so fragile and hard to work with especially with the heat gun trying not to ruin them, so I wanted to look into sheer fabric wings to make for my wedding this month. And this is just gorgeous! I'm using this as inspiration, even tho mine will be quite different in style. Thank you for all these ideas and techniques! Blessed be dear!

    By far the most beautiful fairy wings I’ve seen being made! Not only was I glad to find some not being made from cellophane but also without the back to go in a corset as I won’t be wearing one. I’m so pleased that I found your channel & wonderful video, with such clear instructions so thank you so much. I have subscribed ❤❤

    I love these wings, just beautiful! I'm creating a pair of wings for my daughter to wear to the Renaissance Faire and this gave me so many great ideas. Thank you. My daughter is going to be a Woodland Fairy, so we will be using more leaves etc. But I wasn't sure how to construct the base so it would sit on her back. This video helped me a ton. Thank you again, looking forward to more great tutorials!

    Beautiful!!! I have started a painting series of faeries (love the Old English spelling!). I now have 3 videos on TH-cam of my little ones. Love your style! So lovely!!!

    • @LadyofFaewood
      @LadyofFaewood  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh awesome! I love anything to do with faeries 😊 being a massive Brian Froud fan I always use that spelling - I also think of fairy as super sweet child like creatures and the fae or faerie as a more mysterious darker adult version of fairy 😘

    • @susan1870
      @susan1870 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mine are based more on Will-o’-the -wisps. Nighttime faeries, sprites, also called ghost lights! So my paintings aren’t brightly colored but more like how we see colors at night- faded. Except the faeries are the nightlight! So they illuminate the area just a little.
      I absolutely love your wings! The flowers are such a lovely touch!! 😍

    • @susan1870
      @susan1870 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Please! If you have a chance I’d love it if you checked out my art and left a comment! The Poppy Faerie is a progression video of the painting from beginning to end and the other two are slideshow tutorials. Still new to the video making 🤣

    You are so , well,....crafty. I would almost never think of how to construct such a thing as a pair of wings. Where did you get a large amount of organza? What made you not choose black for the antennae? All the embellishments are lovely. The finished wings are wonderful. You should have been a costume designer in a movie studio. Thanks for sharing!!!

    • @renlish
      @renlish 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can buy bolts of organza from any place where they sell dress-making material. :)

    • @LadyofFaewood
      @LadyofFaewood  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I got my organza from Ebay, and was quite cheap considering I could make a few pairs of wings - was $20aud for 10 metres. The antennae design was based on Brian Froud's sketches which has them as almost part of the wings which I love. So I made them the same colour and design. I was pretty happy with the result, but honestly was unsure at one stage how well they would come out. But I got a lot of compliments at the mythical markets :)

      You know, one thing I wondered is, what would you think about make it where you're not using elastic but maybe rather cutting an oval out of wire and attaching it to the circle in the middle so you can seamlessly fit it under your bra? I love doing it this way since I found about it.

    LOVE.... trying to muster the courage to make some fairy wings for my granddaughter and I. We'll be attending our local fairy festival for the third yr. and this yr. I wanted to add a really nice pair of wings to her costume. One question, where would I be able to purchase the type of lace you used, loved the small pieces you used along the veins. Thanks for sharing your wonderful techniques.

      Awesome :) thanks so much! I got the lace from Ebay but many places sell lace appliques. If you want to dye them you can make the lace damp and use a brush to apply dye and it blends really nicely. Good luck with the wings :)

      @@LadyofFaewood Thanks for the quick reply! I'll definitely let you know, I'm actually working on it now. Just to check, is using solely 14 gage wire for the circle and wing veins adequate? I also have 9-gage but it's very difficult to shape.

      14 should be fine I would think, for heavy wings like the dragon ones I did you'd want the thicker 12 or 10 even but cello isn't heavy. Good luck with it 😀

      @@LadyofFaewood The cello i have did not work at all, so I'm thinking of using organza like you did (glad I had a tester!). I have a low-temp glue gun, will that work for the organza? Or do I need a higher temperature?

      Oh what a shame! But you never know until you try. My hot glue isn't heat controlled - it's a cheapy from Ebay. It worked fine for me and in the tutorial I mention using the glue on top of organza because it was thin enough for glue to go through. If it's not just do a bit at a time so the glue doesn't set before you can stick down the organza

    What wire did you use?

    • @LadyofFaewood
      @LadyofFaewood  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's a fence wire 2mm, you want a hard thick wire so hardware stores are a great place to look 😊

    Vraiment dommage que vous ne répondez jamais aux messages.... et que vous ne donnez jamais les dimensions dans vos tutoriels... je lâche l'affaire

    Your wings are stunning but the music overlay drowned you out and was horribly distracting. It was like having the radio playing while watching tv. 🤯
