- Hi everyone and welcome to Faewood! I am so excited about this project, I love these fairy wings and it was a really fun project. If you need some new inpiration for fairy wings and you have a sewing machine, you might want to try out using water soluble fabric for your next pair of wings.
You can honestly use any range of threads and fabrics to create different versions of these wings, so dont feel you need to follow exactly what I have done. This is a perfect project for using up offcuts of trim, lace and other fibres.
I am super happy with the outcome of these wings and I hope it inspires you xxx

If you cant get hold of fence wire, you can use wire coathangers or any other high tensile sturdy wire
Then use any threads, wool, trim, ribbon etc for the decoration!

This technique would make the most incredible set of dragon wings 😍 these fairly wings are absolutely gorgeous. I've designed my own wings and ordered the fabric, they will look completely different to this pair but after seeing these I might just ahve to make another set 😍
how does one display/strore multiple sets of wings? 😂 I'm also making a mini set of wings for my daughter AND a set or two of itty bitty wings for her dolls (dinkum dolls). Wall mounted? 😅😂 wings everywhere i guess!

I can't speak for anyone else, obviously, but personally, I would love to see some dragon wings with blues, greens, and silvers using this method or something similar to this method to give a sort of ragged, random, chaos, leathery vibe to it. That would be cool :)

What about incorporating ribbon or other free-flowing materials?
I love love love these wings!!!! I'm currently trying to come up with costume ideas for my husband and I for Halloween. He's agreed to wear wings as long as I make them more beetle like. I've made the frames but honestly, I'm kinda stuck trying to come up with what we're supposed to be. Any ideas are welcome.
Oh beetle wings would be a fun project! Maybe ill have to give those a go myself 😊 I always think of scarab beetles when thinking about beetle type costumes 😊
