Love the videos brother! I am currently using your patch in my Helix at church every week. Our sound techs still cant believe its coming from a modeler! I am about to get an HX Stomp to put on my board because I miss my Strymon pedals! So glad you updated this patch!

This sounds amazing. I bought an HX Stomp after this to be able to practice silently with much better tone. I'd love to hear a comparison between the Kempers and the HX Stomp preset and hear your insights. I'm sure the Kempers are better, but it'd be great to hear "how they are better and by how much".

Love the tones David! ...I don't have a Helix or stomp but I use the videos as reference to dial in my Pod hd500x tones as close as possible to your sound. Thanks for the Inspiration!

You've never had any issues running delay and reverb into the front of the "amp"? I guess not, since it sounded amazing on this video lol. Just thought you should always use an fx loop to keep reverb and delays clear, but I guess I was wrong!

I just read your instructions on the Hx stomp preset and it says if we run mono , you recommend using one of the mono amps instead of the stereo one .. to be honest both mono that I got sounds bad , yesyterday i tried the stereo and it sounds amazingly good and very clean , reacts amazing to extern od , that made come here to see which other presets you might have - I see you have an updated one . So .... I will go home check again the L or R amp - mono . See what’s all about . Otherwise , great sounds ! The best I amps /patches I tried

2 questions:
1: where do you normally set the volume knob on the top of the hx stomp when you play live?
2: Is the clean mode reverb setting adjustable or was that coming from your pedalboard? In other words, is there a way to make the clean sound a little bit drier?

1. I usually max the volume out. It doesn’t matter too much, as long as your interface or mixer you send to is getting a healthy signal without clipping. You can adjust the main volume of the patch on the Main L R output if needed. Set to -20dB by default.
2. All effects besides the tremolo are coming from my pedalboard. There is a description on the product page of my website that goes over everything in this patch in even more detail - check that out.

If you have my helix patch, use a clean ambient setting and add the vibrato block in place of the chorus. :)

I would like to use the Stomp for modulations as well as amps (in between my drives and wet effects). Do you have a recommendation on whether I should use the stomp’s effects loop in that case? Would you recommend the AMPS or ALL IN bundle for that situation? Thanks

Yes! Now that the stomp can run 8 blocks it’s much more doable, so I am working on an “all in” patch now.
don't you find the heavy delay/reverbs make your live sound a bit washed out? sounds ok for recorded mixes.
David, I downloaded some of the purchased patches for my Stomp, and they did not work. I updated the stomp as instructed but no luck.

I want your presets + one of the helix/hx but nothing else. What do you recommend? Could I get away with just using the pod go or should I go for the helix lt (trying to save money)
Hey David. Love the patch. I would however like to assign my footswitches to things other than gain, high cut, and boost (for example like octave or vibrato) while still keeping the amp ir because I like the tone I'm getting without even pressing any of the switches. Is that possible?

It’s a stock EJ strat from ‘06-08 ish

You said the compressor at the end acts as a glue but is it also meant to replace the amps sag parameter ? You have the amp sag set so low. 🤔🤔 Love the tone though.
It’s not meant to replace the sag parameter. I set the sag where I thought it sounded and felt the best in this context.

Fender prosonic interesting choice. Different style fender. Versatile amp, the eq is interesting. You can dime the amp and turn down all the eqs. The amp will break up but the volume will be manageable. Kind of odd overdrive sound but interesting

I seen you run your kilts volume at 1 o’clock so I tried that and it sounds amazing when hitting the amps that hard but the volume jump is almost to much when compared to the clean tone. Is that normal?
Yes that is normal. The idea behind it is that you are boosting volume and pushing the amp to break up more along with adding some gain. A little compression at FOH / Streaming / monitors usually will offset any volume that is too loud. A little step in volume is usually nice and good for band dynamics,
My Sound guy doesn’t like that big of a volume jump lol I ended up dragging the boost to the end of the chain and using that for my clean tones. I still kept it so that my kilt was a little bit louder tho. 👍🏼 but man do these presets sound good! i have a hand wired ac30 and I just can’t get the treble to be present without the harsh ear piercing high end.
Hello david! Love your content! I have a question, i recently purchased the bethel amps patch and when i started playing it was so quiet i had to max out my amp, is there something i didn’t do right. I had the hx output volume at like 3 o’clock. Im also brand new to the hx stomp. Just trying to rock it like you brother!
Hey man, thanks for checking it out! All you need to do is import the patch and import the IRs and load them into the IR blocks. To adjust the volume of the patch to taste without changing the tone, you can adjust the volume at the output block (the last thing in the signal chain).

Thanks for checking it out! In this video, I ran my full pedalboard (delays and verbs included) into the front of the Stomp. I didn’t use the fx loop. That’s how I like to run it.

Hi david, hope you see this msg..just wondering if you can also show how you plug in hx stomp with your pedalboard. Do you still have your compressor turned on on your pedalboard or is it off since you already have a compressor inside hx stomp?
Hey, I did use my compressor on my board. The compressor in the preset is just to tailor the amp tone to compress like real amps do when pushed. It is optional.

Hey David, what is the signal chain here? Are going from your last pedal in your pedal board into the stomp? Or is modulation post amp? I’m also wanting to remove the trem and add like a chorus or POG to it. Can I do that?
My full pedalboard is in front of the stomp here. No Fx loop. You can customize the preset to your liking - but one thing to be aware of is I think the pitch block uses a lot more DSP than the tremolo, so you may have to modify the patch further to accommodate that (like removing the post amp compressor, etc).

@@danielbiddinger4467 off of the top of my head (and I don't have my stomp in front of me to check), I don't remember what FX were avalible with the leftover DSP in the stereo patch. I know there weren't many options and luckily tremolo used very little DSP which was great because that is what I wanted to use anyways. I would expect to need to modify the stereo patch if you want to alter the FX. Also included are single amp/IR patches of each amp that have more DSP for effects (includes two post amp verbs and the trem).
Do you use every block of the 8? Because I want to use your preset but also replace some effects with the stomp.So I need about 2 or 3 free blocks.
Yes, all 8 blocks are used but you could always modify it as you wish.

Using your patches on HX Stomp right now (in fact I have 2). Just got the invite to buy FM9. Do you feel the FM9 is better?
The FM9 sounds great and will offer more options and flexibility over the stomp due to its larger size and more DSP. It’s more comparable to the Helix than the stomp.
@@DavidHislop Thanks. Right now I'm using 2 HX Stomps in my rig - one for amps only, one for a catch all FX. I have some other really nice pedals (UA, Kingtone). I know the control options will go way up with the FM9...just wondering if the core tones are good enough to justify the change.

Thanks! It's a stock Eric Johnson strat from '07 or '08. 12" radius. I love it!
Do you have anything for pod go users? I would imagine we could be able to have something really close to what’s modeled in the stomp, right?
I do have a Pod Go patch! It is closer to my helix patch than this patch, meaning it’s designed to be an “all in” patch not replace amps at the end of a pedalboard.

Nope. Pretty much the same.
Is it there a anyway I can put the riverb to fswitch 2 and I need a second riverb to fswitch 3 is tha possible? I need the amps and riverb from the stomp
Yes, you can customize the patch and footswitch assignments however you like! The stereo amps preset uses too much DSP to add a reverb, but the two mono amp patches that are included have two reverbs included in those patches.

In his setup, the HX stomp is just amps and an added Tremolo, everything else is his everyday pedalboard in front of the HX stomp, including delay and verb. On the HX stomp, two amps and two IR cabs + EQ take up almost all of the DSP available..

The brilliant/top boost. Higher gain input (the one closest to the back of the amp).
will there be an update 3.01 for the helix patch?
My helix patches are currently up to date and work on the latest firmware without any issues. I was looking at adding the new 3.0 "poly" effects to them, but they take up so much DSP I had to delete almost half of my patch to load them, so they are basically unusable. I will continue to update the patches as needed and as new features that improve the patch are made available.
Is there a update for helix floor?
Not at this time - all my helix patches are up to date and work on the latest firmware. I will update them as needed and as new features are released that I want to incorporate into them.
