That awkward moment when you realise you've been playing it wrong for months...
Hahahah. It’s my fault - I was suppose to film these like a year ago... ooops.
😂
P.S. by "all my gain stages on" for the riff, I mean my Kilt V1 & the boost ON. I don't really stack my drives.
Boost set pre or post gain?
@@Jesse_Johnson Post - pushing the amps harder.
@@Jesse_Johnson you guys are doing well
hahah the timing of your pedal work is impeccable.
Literally a skill on its own 😂
More tutorials on the way! Check out my presets and IR's here: www.davidhislop.co/store
Ain't no grave tutorial please!!
@Aaron Bray Facts
And Egypt!!🙏
@@DavidHislop Thanks for the quick reply, I reloaded your preset and it works perfectly. I managed to mess it up somehow. I deleted my comment about it. Thanks again!
Thank you David. Are you muting the notes a little during the opening riff?
SUPER great. Im really into the format of this. The detail you go into for not only describing the parts but also the effects is much appreciated. As someone who already figured out the song beforehand, i still fully benefit from this even just to geek out on the guitar stuff. I think i speak for everyone when i say the community loves this stuff
These videos feel like private lessons. Such an incredible resource for players. Thank you so much David for all your hard work and dedication. You are making the church are better place for worship teams everywhere.
i love how it feels like your actually having a conversation with me. i feel like in a lot of tutorials, the on camera talent almost feels robotic and tense. the little things. super dope bro!
Thanks for the feedback - that’s the goal!
@@DavidHislop you're doing a fantastic job! excited to see the future vids!
Glad I'm not the only one who got this vibe
@@DavidHislop yeah so good
This is just a tier above it all. Just ridiculous tone, David. Thanks for worshipping God with your talents. It gives me the goosey pimples.
This riff is so awesome. Thanks for the walkthrough!
Hey David Do you have these patches for HX Stomp? Or something similar that I can use? great material by the way Congrats!
this video literally made me feel bad for my bigsky. i need to use more on my bigsky and not just cloud hall and plate😂
It’s such a good versatile pedal, there’s a reason it’s still on my board!
Great tutorial David! Can’t wait for all the other ones! If you had to pick one pedal to use, would you use the Iridium or the Hx Stomp in place of your amps?
I bought the helix patches for DH’s bethel, Egypt, and We Praise You. Best money I’ve spent on patches. Minimal to no tweaking and sit in the mix perfectly. When you play them isolated you think uhhhhh, but trust me in the mix will sound completely different. If you need a solid P&W sound or just want that “Bethel” sound....buy them! Love the vid too, DH
Thanks Jamie! Glad they are helpful!
Such a great tone, thank you my Brother !!
ill bought everything you got for the helix. Ive tried everyone else's Bethel presets and nothing comes close to yours.
Muito bom David Hislop!!! Salve de BRASIL ✌️
Ahh!! The magneto verb is what has been stumping me on this song! Gonna go lock that into my big sky now 😁
YES! I love this song! I love the parts you wrote and love playing them. Thanks Dude!
6:01 Pogchamp
(sorry, had to do it)
One of the coolest riffs I’ve played since joining our pDub team. Thank you for the walk though. Massively helpful!
I just joined my church's praise team and this is the first song on the first Sunday I play in a couple weeks so this being uploaded in the past few days is great hahaha
Awesome! Crush it 💪🏻
@@DavidHislop You're making it easy to with tutorials like this. Elevations Fullness tutorial is about 1 minute long and not helpful at all. Quick question, you said you had a dual delay going, what timing did you have those set to?
I forget off the top of my head - The timeline has some pre-set dual delay settings numbered “1 2 3” etc, so I forget off the top of my head exactly what subdivisions the delays are hitting at.
@@DavidHislop you're good man, thanks for the quick reply. I'll probably just end up loading the helix patch but I'm using Amplitube to practice and like to get the delay settings down in there too. Thanks again, looking forward to learning from more of your tutorials.
I keep talking myself out of getting a Kilt, because some of the demos out there are...not great. Then here you go, making it sound great. 😂
Random question: is there a reason you play an open A in the intro but not an open D in the second part of the intro?
Good question! I just preferred the tone of the open A and fretted D. Fretting the D at the 5th fret also allowed me to easily mute that root when playing the second part of the riff.
@@DavidHislop thank you so much!🍻🙏🏼
Hi David, Could you say what your delay times/divisions are set to?
Looking forward to seeing more of this type of content! It's fascinating hearing the tones in isolation, I'm actually surprised how dark and full of low mids the tone is!
Bro, I never comment on youtube videos (of any kind) but first of all I want to thank you because you have contributed a lot to my learning and because you motivate me to have a better tone and guitar technique. You should make content often, I think you have a lot of potential to be one of the best guitar tone channels / effects / pedalboards / recording studio. You are best, keep it up!
Greetings from mexico!
What kind of pick ups are you using there
What do ya'll do when you're asked to play this song in the key of C?
I do not hear main riff in studio version
Good to see you out there doing it, bro! I haven't played electric in a while, but I got it out for this. You've made it very accessible. Now I need to go listen to the song, because I haven't actually heard it yet. Thanks, and keep it coming!
Thanks Mike! Hope all is well!
It would be great if you had created Kemper performance packs for sale on Tone Factor for some of the most popular Bethel songs rather than just amp profiles.
Our new Tone Factor amp profiles include a performance but it’s not based on any song in particular.
Yes another post let’s gooo
I want to play this one so bad. But with me and the keyboard player sharing male vocals, I'd probably get picked to sing this one. I really better start practicing lol

You are amazing! 😭🙌❤
Lol the little jump cut at 10:08
Nice catch 😉 I forgot it was a double chorus at the end lol.
I'm trying a pog on the chorus instead of having to hit the octaves. Seems to be working. Edit, I just needed to practice it the right way enough. Its not easy nailing every change 100%
Amazing tone, the guitars of this song are fire, and also, is there a boba fett behind you??
😂 Yes there is. Circa 1997.
@@DavidHislop I knew it😂also I dm on ig about it😂
Thank you!
Hi David! reply enjoy and use your tutorials fully for Bethel's songs in our Church's repertoire. I got several of the Big Sky sets you have, but for delay I use a Boss DD-500, would you mind detailing the delays you have set? Thanks in advance!
Nice broth!!!
By dual delay what subdivisions are you using? Dotted 8th and 8th or 1/4? Thanks
Brother, thank you so much for such an instructive and helpful video. Really appreciate it. God bless.
SORRYYOU CAN PLAY WITH ACUSTIC GUITARWITH THE CHORDS, BECAUSE I LIKE PLAY IT WHEN I WILL BE IN FRONT OF GOD THANKS,
Exactly what we needed. You are the best David! Thanks for sharing with us the correct way of how it has to sound, btw what delay time are you using 1/4 or .8TH?
It would be a blessing if I could get another guitar because we lost it in the hurricane Ida in Louisiana I was playing in praise and worship team but we lost alot so please yall aways a help for me
David, how are you muting the other strings while playing the octave slides?
wish there was tabs, cant really follow along witr what youre playing. am i supposed to already know? sorry
😎😎😎😎😎🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳 David thanks for all that you do, love it and it helps more than you know!!
At high gain this is Metallica Seek and Destroy!!!!
Any videos on what the second guitar plays
What kind of guitar is that, it looks awesome!!!!!?
Wow Russian AMT pedal in the board!
When I started playing no TH-cam, no David Hislop, only my ears. God bless you for all you do!
Great stuff, man! Thanks for such a thorough video. For your dual delay, you running .8th and 1/4?
Do the Line 6 patches work for the Line 6 POD X3 Live?
Hello for bridge when you use the shape is the kilt overdrive ?
I'm happy to get the help with that guitar riff, right by watching.. thank you
Can’t get my dual delay to hit like yours. It’s driving me nuts. I use a Helix.
Amazing. We need more of these again also with Kenyon and Jonathan.
Great parts, dude. Thanks for sharing.
There wouldn't happen to be tabs for this would there?
Sick tutorial! Great tone! love it dude!
Thanks for this, man! I especially love the Play-through section. Being able to see exactly what you’re doing with your pedalboard is really helpful. You gotta get Jonathan Lee to add a board shot to his vids as well 😉😂😅
Dude so excited you're dropping fractal patches. Just got an FM3. Great tutorial and tone!
uuufffff just uuffff
love that tone so much !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
How did you put the delay reverb together really good at guitar
just for me to see later 1:48 and 6:50 to and 9:45
David, you're a blessing! We opened with this one this past Sunday and it had so much energy! I must confess, I somewhat struggle to get the octaves during the chorus sounding "neat" so I use a POG effect on my Helix and just play a single string to make life easier. Thanks so much for all that you do!
Did you just collect all this gear over time? You are a beast!
Clean 02:05
Drive 03:09
Play 06:53
Waiting for a new tutorials 🎉
Jesus loves you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Awesome video and tutorial! I'm guitar #2 in my worship band. What would you suggest playing in the chorus while the main guitar is playing the octave stuff? Thanks!
Hey man - check out Jonathan Lee's tutorial on youtube for his parts for this song.
Is there tabs to this at all anywhere?
Awesome video David🔥🎸 God bless you!!
David Hislop the best!!! thanks
Well I gotta learn this for church, so thanks for sharing. Not my cuppa tea but don't feel bad; I never liked Meant To Live by Switchfoot either :D
Hahaha. No offense taken. Have fun with it!
The chorus of this song, comes from your mobius?
Yep!
Watching you I thought "Man I want a Veritas" but though it seems like the main difference is the pickups and the bridge from a Fender-style... What's your opinion on PRS guitars tonally for Bethel-style worship?
I use an '08 PRS McCarty II for worship and find it outstanding. Another player uses a recent PRS hollow-body. Tough to go wrong with PRS. They're excellent.
Omg the chorus..... It hits my feeling
A great reminder that tone comes first and foremost from the fingers. Praise God for you!
Very incredible, i’m your fan 🇧🇷🔥🔥
Pretty tight, thank you.
Gracias por los tutorials!! And teaching it to us
Heck yeah I’ve been waiting for these!
Play through starts at 6:52
Great work mate! Keep rocking it!
He said, “Finessed” 🔥🔥🔥
Love these videos man, keep em coming! :)
Are from hillsong
Thanks
Yesss love it man 🔥
Great,great,great! What a tone!🤩🤩🤩👍👍👍
big fan of ua guitar tone
So good. Keep up the good work!
I thought that was a Van Halen logo pin for a second above his left jacket pocket at first till i looked closer
It is a VH pin. RIP 🖤
Sounds great!
Kind of off topic, but what in ears are you using?
64 A12t’s
Best tutorials.
Love the video! Thought this was going to be a shameless plug of some new HX presets lol
haha, that's my other video :) I wanted to use my real amps that I recorded with for these tutorial videos so you guys have a reference for how my real amps sound.
