    Absolutely beautiful car. I had a 2010 Transformers Edition SS that was my all time favorite car. I sold it two years later and I regret it every day. I just recently bought another Transformers Edition SS which is a 2012. It's nowhere near as nice as my 2010 was but I plan on changing that....

      I've played with the idea of selling mine a few times as well, but that's exactly what I am worried about. I know I would regret it. I have some much time, money, and effort into this I know I would have big regrets. Not to mention my kids would be devastated. They love the car.

      As of now I am running stock boost and made roughly 550 at the wheels. I am currently upgrading the fuel system and upping the boost just a bit. I am looking to push it to no more than 600 at the wheels. It has a stock bottom end so I don't want to blow the thing up. Not to mention I don't think I would want to explain to my wife why I need to take an additional 10 grand out of saving to fix my motor.

    Wheels, calibers, and brakes are fantastic. Nice upgrades. Hopefully you still have the car. It's beautiful. A guy in my subdivision had a bumble bee 5th gen he got rid of a couple yrs back and got a blue 6th gen. I can't help but wonder if he misses his older Camaro.

      Charlie Brown Photography Here's a good thread to follow on Camaro 5. You have different finishes to decide on. The finish I have is what they referred to as matte gunmetal. There are also optional offsets that you can go with. If you go through the post it will explain some of that.

    I was thinking about selling my gen 5 SS but now that I’ve seen this I would very much so love to do most of the things that you have done like the supercharger I’m from Michigan to so if you could point me in the direction of we’re you got the supercharger done I would really appreciate it thanks for this wonderful video and inspiration.

    • @newagemuscle2010ss
      @newagemuscle2010ss  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I ordered mine through RPM Race Proven Motorsports, but there are many vendors to choose from that sell Magnuson superchargers or similar equivalent blowers. As for the install, I did it myself. It came with a full color book that walked me through page by page. I had it custom tuned by Lideo over at Alternative Auto performance. They also will do the install if it something you want done. My car is fairly conservative making 575 to the wheels. I do have another pulley, but have not changed it yet. That one will put me over 600 rwhp. You won't regret it. It will drive like a new car. Just be prepared for some new sticky tires.

    Honestly I have always hated this bodystyle, the power wasn't there, the handling was like a truck and the little finishes on the cars felt cheap. However, when I see people who have done **QUALITY** builds all I can say is just Wow! You have fixed all the things i hated on these cars and more!! Obviously you fixed the power problem too!!!!This is such a great looking ls congrats man!! Definitely will be taking your video for inspiration on my c63.

      AMG or BUST Thank you. I appreciate your feedback. It has been a fun journey. The power issue is really not a problem with these cars to fix. Just bolt on a blower, supporting mods, and a good tune and you're all set. As for the rest it comes down to Cosmetics which differ for everyone. I tried to be tasteful and everything I have done to the car.

      +Elias “Skipper543” Dib Thanks man. I've done additional mods since the video. I am now running an Overdrive cog pully in the rear which has increased boost quite a bit from what it was. It now has an upgraded fuel system and bigger injectors. I also removed the hi-flow cats. I have not been on the dyno with it yet, but I am hoping to be somewhere around 630 on the dyno I normally use for tuning.

Personally I don't ever plan on buying one, but I think they are very nice and more refined then the fifth generation which you would expect from a newer model. I'm curious to see some of the performance numbers coming out of the new ZL1.

      Timothy Wheaton including the price of the vehicle I would say probably somewhere around 50,000. This was with me doing all the work. I got a really good deal on the super charger. I had it shipped to my house for $5,400. the car is making approximately 630 to the wheels now. So for the money it's a lot of car. I could have gone another route and purchased a ZL1 up front, however there was no ZL1 in 2010. Not to mention it has been a fun Journey for me.

    Did you ever get the separate clutch fluid reservoir? I’m assuming you probably know all about it. It’s a 04-06 Pontiac GTO clutch fluid reservoir, which companies like JDP and Gen5DIY make a custom mounting kit for.
    I find that with the Tremec manual transmissions, with the concentric slave cylinder/throwout bearing, you have an inevitable, chronic case of clutch dust contamination. I’m sure you’ve heard all about the ‘Ranger’ clutch care method, back in the day, where the guy went to go check his brake/clutch fluid analyzed in a lab, and found a ton of clutch dust particles contaminating his master cylinders, right after just one day at the track.
    It’s mainly really bad when you drive hard, since I believe the clutch dust and wind speed combined, force the clutch dust particles even more so up through the slave cylinder and into the clutch fluid (and brakes, if running the stock shared master cylinder reservoir). But even if you drive a lot, the clutch fluid is going to wind up getting dirty, just at a slower rate.
    I’ve been alternating in between nice and decent DOT 4 and DOT 5.1 brake fluids, as I don’t always drive my car hard; although I drive my car fairly often, with it being my current daily driver. I don’t think I’ve personally put any brake fluid with less than at least a 500+ F temp DRY boiling point.

    • @newagemuscle2010ss
      @newagemuscle2010ss  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      No, I never did the GTO fluid reservoir. It was on my to-do list. I still have it bookmarked on my computer. I wanted to do it at the same time I had the McLeod clutch put in. Maybe this summer I'll finally get around to it.

    I have a 2011 ss with the same shifter, Borla cat backs, air raid CAI, and a Diablo tuner, it puts out roughly 500 you need to get yours Dynoed I guarantee that it puts out more than 550, also I'm thinking about getting long tube Kooks, are they worth it?

    • @newagemuscle2010ss
      @newagemuscle2010ss  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      My car makes 550 to the wheels. That translates to about 630hp if you figure 15% drivetrain loss. You must be tthinking 550 flywheel. There is NO WAY a car with your mods will make 500 to the wheels on an accurate dyno. Bone stock my car made 370 on a Mustang brand dyno which are conservative. With my Rotofab CAI and a custom tune it made 385. Once I added longtubes and a fulll exhaust it made 410 to the wheels. I try not to get caught up in the numbers to much other than a measuring tool from where my car originally started.

      Daniel Grant Considering I did most of the work myself, I would say around $14,000. That's everything. I've had others ask why I just did not buy a ZL1, but I bought the car late 2009, so there was no option for me to get the ZL1. Not to mention this was a lot more fun to make it my own.

      Daniel Grant I'm running the 3.6 pulley up front which was not done in the video. I upgraded my fuel system for safety now. last time on the dyno it made 575 to the wheels. I also picked up the OD cog drive pulley which I have not installed yet. Once I get that on I should be around 620. I need to get bigger injectors before I change it out...that's what I'm waiting on.

      if you're going to the quad tips you will have to change the lower Valance. Give me a few minutes and I will find you the link to my write-up I did on Camaro 5. That will pretty much explain what is required. You have a couple of choices. You can either go with the ZL1 diffuser comma or you can go with the same diffuser that would come on the 1LE Camaro.

I know if you go through these guys you can have your emblems customized. I preferred the black over the Chrome and any of the distributors I delbt with would not offer that. If you go through these guys they will do whatever you want.

      I also don't really know much about engines yet, but does a supercharger harm your engine? I read somewhere that it can damage it in the long run. Just curious.

    • @newagemuscle2010ss
      @newagemuscle2010ss  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      A supercharger won't harm your engine if set up correctly. There are a lot of factors to look at, such as, the amount of boost your making, your fuel system, and having a good tuner. All these can be detrimental to your engine life if not monitored. I did not know much either in the beginning... and still have a lot to learn. Thanks to forums like Camaro5 I have gained tones of knowledge.

    I like the build you did. I was curious about the Sparks Restorations emblems you got. I checked their site but only see yellow/polished and not the yellow/satin or black like yours. Did you paint the edges of those emblems or did you order them like that from sparks?

This summer, after blowing the stock clutch, I installed the McLeod RXT clutch and fly wheel. I also picked up the OD Cog drive for more boost since I am bored with the power. It will be going on as soon as I get bigger injector. Also, Mickey Thompson DR's. I've kind of pushed it to the side over the past couple of years because I bought a cottage. Now I'm maintaining a boat, jet skis, sleds, quads, and my kids dirt bikes. Wish I had more time.

Considering I did all the work myself except the tuning I would have to believe somewhere in the area of 12 to $14,000. There are a few things that are not in the video that I have done since. I've upgraded the fuel system and probably a couple other things I can think of at the moment. If I would have paid someone to do all of it, it definitely would have been much higher. I just don't like anyone working on my vehicle except me. All and all it seems like a lot of money, but considering I got the vehicle for around $35,000 with my GM discount and putting the money I did into the mods, I now have a 700+ horsepower car for around $50,000. Next to a Hellcat, you're not going to get that type of power level for close to that price.
