When I saw this deathtrap of a van in your video I thought: "OMG that thing is just too far gone. Don't waste your time on it." But you actually really dared to resto... rebuild that thing (in a very reasonable manner) to make it road worthy again. Thats dedication you lads have body-shop-balls of steel. Subbed.
At one time ,here in Australia, hundreds of VW's and Nissan Urvans were made into Campers here. The roofs were cut off and the fiberglass topper fitted but no rust protection was used.They all leaked and the water would rust everything below the roof. My younger brother had a thing for campers and owned a VW and and a couple of Nissans which looked great but were absolutely rotten. That Transit is pretty typical of those I looked at .

I would have gone straight to the MOT station that passed it. I bought a car with a fresh Mot some years ago. On inspection the rear brakes were seized solid in the off position. I made the guy give me the money to replace all the parts or I was going to report the Mot station. He didn't hesitate, he paid up immediately.
I’d be very surprised if this is not the same vehicle. But if it is, a very good friend of mine bought this in 2021 just at the tail end of Covid. He bought it from a motor home dealer in Lincolnshire for something like £12K. It had a new MOT and when I saw it the alarm bells started ringing. On closer inspection I could see it was a bodged up death trap. He ended up losing £4K just getting them to take it back at his loss, this was after he’d carried out a lot of additional work internally. He got totally ripped off. Everything about it looks the same to me, even down to the filler in the wheel arches. Well done guys on commencing with repairing this van properly at last. Look forward to seeing the next video on it.
ive got a few flaresides like that colin well not quite lol but various states ! whats scary is people pay fortunes for them duettos without getting under before buying or taking to a garage to get a good look !

I knew of a guy who ran a test station,4 bays,one office with the windows papered over containing a guy doing 'over the phone test' all day long,for five and a half days a week. Even emissions compliance certification for retrofitted exhaust treatment systems for HGV's is apparently buyable. A dealer I worked for as a young lad in the 80's had a council test station he used,by the time we'd got out of the car the tester was already writing out a pass.I know of a few testers who's own cars,friends cars or families have never seen a ramp,I've seen plenty of stuff myself that's taken far more than the year since the last test to get to the state it's in.One particular case being where I had to tell a guy that the sprinter he'd just bought had no rear floor,which had been replaced by ply screwed into the floor rails. Upon digging a bit further, it transpired that the original owner had used it for shingle which wore the floor through.He sold it as spares or repairs 7 years previous but it had tests for those 7 years,at the same garage which by then had obviously just changed owners again😂😂
I remember my old transit it rusted out but the engine was perfect now the opposite is happening on my newer transit van the body is perfect and the engine is knackered.
"They don't make um like they used to" lol.. Good old fords, I would like to say "thats shocking" but being a Transit it's kinda standard at least around near me. Dono why people let them get so bad, little undersealing and cleaning every few years can prevent it cheaper than a repair. Oh and well-done Luis good job!
top repair, see the whole crew getting stuck in , the previous "repair" was a blue peter job, sticky back plastic and paint, but looks like they did not have a responsible adult with them when they did it!! bet if they took the van else were the cost of the repair would wright it off if they would even take it on , another one saved , thanks guys

Good to see car mechanics working to rectify some one else’s bodge, I looked at a fiat Motorhome at a dealer and the chassis failed twice for the MOT so I back out of the deal. I chose a Peugeot chassis model instead which was spotless, thing is there was 6 months between manufacture dates and they are made at the same factory as are fiat, Peugeot and Citroen.

It pays to take someone with you I got scammed on what appeared to be a tidy mazda 2 sport with only 32k on it some years ago. It was a Scottish death trap and I bought that from a so called reputable dealer. Rac and trading standards approved you couldn't make it up. Just pay a small amount and have the aa come out or a trusted local garage or main dealer and always pay by credit card

Maybe useful..Had a MK1 transit fitted a MK 3 front axle using existing spring hanger holes cut the cross member to fit in the engine when it was complete and time to weld in the front cross member i had removed it was 15 mm too short

I've been welding for 25 years and done loads of vehicles and seen some right bodges but this must be the worst I've ever seen it should of never passed a mot and its dangerous just think if the owner had a crash makes you think wat else is that bad with it you will have a massive job when you start digging away thats another reason why I don't do welding in my spare time because of people not wanting to pay for a good job as i can't bodge any i take pride in my work now i only help friends and family

Seen this type of work done on a Suzuki pining mot station had used there old paperwork too fibre glass over missing chassis. front ty bar had fallen off vosa wasn't interested because they held on too vehicle for 3 months after mot was issued before selling it at which point its outside of their jurisdiction
Its a good job you can weld and do the repairs yourself . I bet your local welder would charge you a fortune in labour and parts and thats just on the front of the van alone . God knows what the rest of the underneath is like i dread to think i hope its salvageable shame to scrap it
I don't know the percentage of people who don't wash the underside of their vehicles, but it must be high!!! Any Moho used in the winter (salt) must be consistently washed underneath. For example My 2015 Ducato has plastic front wheel arch covers which trap mud & salt right up against the bodywork at the top of the arches, if you don't flush that area out regularly there will be trouble ahead !!!!
The level of bodging is world class. Some people have no conscience. I have had 3 transits and they have all been rotters despite my best efforts. The best part of them is the 2.5Di engine. Ford do not deserve their reputation on transits. Good luck on saving this one.
When I saw the picture I thought this is a transit, I've a 13 plate and the cills and everything are rotten underneath, this is the second transit I have had and they have both rotted like hell, engines run or ever but the body work is made out of recycled metal that's why they rot so much.
Trouble is you can't prove it because it can go bad within a few months and mot testers aren't allowed to pull cars apart that is why you have cowboys in 2024
whoever passed that for mot should be put in prison for 10 years.. there is a little bit of rot and then there is out n out dangerous amount of rot and this family camper is terrible. nice to see a proper good job being done on it.
yea un effin this crap is more work than the fix that was needed in the first place. in my frontera i had both rocker panels covered with smeared aluminium panels... great work, ended up cutting everything out and refabricating.

dreadfull previous codges , not a proper MOT , excellent repair works , but hours of stripping , preperation , replacement panels , like the new piece of box section , in honesty , only really fit for the scrap yard , , lots more to do as well ,
If that still got a ticket on it then i would say the tester is still in spain as he could afford 6 month holiday after collecting all this £20 notes covering all that rot and filler Good effort on trying to help the customer after getting shafted

I never use filler on my vehicle repairs at Feastham. I always used premium quality concrete, to take anything that the weather can throw at it.

dreadfull previous codges , not a proper MOT , excellent repair works , but hours of stripping , preperation , replacement panels , like the new piece of box section , in honesty , only really fit for the scrap yard , , lots more to do as well ,
